I would say the Thai embassy in Ottawa or the official consulate in Vancouver are the only ones that can help you. They are the ones that need proof of your test 72 hours before your repatriation flight and the fit fly certificate.

I did talk to the consulate, she said they weren't looking at the forms at departure, it was the airline. She couldn't answer my question about being a few hours over the 72.

My covid 19 test had the collected time and the lab result time. The Korean air staff at JFK didn't check deeply into it they just looked at the "not detected" I didn't really see them count out the days or look at the time specifically it was a quick glance. At Bangkok it was an even quicker glance. What country are you located in? I got my test results the next day for covid 19, is there any quicker clinic that offers it near you?.

Was your test within the 72 hours though?

I am in Canada, everything goes through provincial labs. I got my first result back in 66 hours which wouldn't work if I went the shorter option.

  3. I am hoping to hear from people who have experienced providing covid tests results at the airport.

My problem is the 72-hour window.  My two choices are to show up at the airport with a test result that is 74 - 78 hours old, or 50 - 54 hours old.

The doctor is concerned the shorter time frame is not enough time to get a result (risky). And of course, my concern is the older test results will be refused as they are not in the window.

I want to hear from people who have been through the experience. Do they allow some leeway since planes leave at all times of the day, and labs label the test from the time they process it? making it  unlikely to have the full 72 hours.

My airline is All Nippon Air, I cannot get through their customer service to speak to actual person. So, any input will help me decide what to do. Consulate does not know either.

  4. I love living in Thailand, being stuck in Canada for the last 5 months has proven that to me. But when I see something done in a nonsensical, inefficient, or corrupt manner, I'm going to grumble because I am bothered by waste greed and laziness. In Thailand we do get to witness a lot of those things, and they are unfortunately predictable and a product of Thai culture. But grumbling about it is not racism. I would grumble about it in any country. I definitely grumble about it in my own country.

There are things that are typically Canadian that I am frustrated with. Does that make me racist against Canadians? So why would a similar thing make me racist against Thais?

We like what we like, and some cultures do things better. That's just reality.

My problem exactly! I am in Canada. Have a work permit and the rest of the documents required, however, it is virtually impossible to get Fit to Fly , Entry Certificate and book tickets all in 3 days! Why not just get the Fit to Fly once you know you have a ticket for a flight. This would certainly make sense as flights are hard to come by.

The consulate in Van seems to know that the requirements are not possible the way they are stated. They told me to wait until new instructions are received. Maybe today already. I am also trying to get to Thailand from Alberta, Let us know if you find the way to do get it done. Did you find out how to get a fit to fly certificate/paper?

  6. Here are some things I am unsure of for getting back.

The first problem is the order of completing the checklist. So, here is what I imagine the order is.

    The order of items required

    1.I Already have a visa

    2.Buy insurance

3.Apply for Certificate of Entry with all copies of ID/marriage asked for

    4.Book flight

    5.Book quarantine

    6.Get tested

    7.Fly to Thailand

    Is this correct?

    More questions

The duration of Insurance required to apply.

Will they accept any insurance company or is it only an approved from an approved list?

How do you find out what flight to take?

    Can you book any flight?

Can you book quarantine without knowing the date you arrive?

Who checks to see if you have the tests done and have insurance before you board?
