[i think some people are jumping the gun on this one a bit; of course condolences to those directly affected, but to immediately assume the accident is a result of poor driving standards is unfair - for all we know it could have been caused by some other reason like brake failure or swerving to avoid a dog. The driving standards are not good in Thailand, but that doesn't mean that every accident is down to them. Accidents happen unfortunately, and they happen everywhere.

Yes you are right , those stories usually end up by investigation " brake failure" ... I agree no need to jump in conclusion but we all know ,specially those living here ,that mini vans drivers , bus drivers ,pick up drivers rarely care about their passengers ,how many accidents everyday because of excessive speed and inadequate driving behavior ???????

RIP to those poor guys who asked nothing but to spend good time vacation and end up because of probably stupid driving behavior,over speed most probably and a total lack of driving knowledge by the drivers ...it happen all the time and will never end ,until the government act quickly. Drivers should get proper instruction ,its crazy in some countries you have to spend fortune in driving schools and here you just buy your license without knowing that a van , a car or a bus are weapons for those who dont know how to use them properly. nothing will ever change here and poor people will continue to die because of such incompetence.

Finally ............. they could extend to business class also .. I love babies but when you pay 3,000euro for a ticket ,you deserve some quiet time without some babies crying.... not their fault of course , we all have been babies but it can be really disturbing , specially when you have early meetings and need some sleep in the plane.

Well I guess our governments in western countries should do the same for Thais who enter usually as tourists and end up working in Asian restaurants or those who really want to work , after all there are no double pricing in Europe for Thais or Europeans ..they all pay the same , so for those work permits the law should be the same , in some countries after 10 years in the country you get 5 years residency, here every year its the same ,renewal of work permit ,visa etc ...and more money to be paid ! I think its time for the government here to tell if they still want to have foreigners or not. Be honest and kick us out if you dont want us .... Every time there is new papers needed etc ... BORING ... maybe justified but boring ...

At about 6:30am, the van was heading southbound on Thepkrasattri Road as normal when it was involved in a collision with a pickup truck laden with watermelons, durian and other fruit.

Those Mini vans usually drive TOO FAST , I see those vans every morning when I drive to my work ..speeding speeding speeding .... nothing else and no respects for their passengers. Also many time I have seen kids sitting on the front seat next to the driver and of course without safety belt .... A big change is needed in the mentality here , and also for the drivers who put in jeopardy the life of others .... Let see what will be the result of the investigation ....

Russians dont drink more than any body else , look at the drunken english in Patong area or Patpong ..... I know Russia very well and yes they might drink a bit more than others but I dont think that is the case here .. Probably the guy who rented a motorbike and who had the passport wanted more money for some scratches on the bike , same as jet ski ... I dont know ... You can be drunk but not want to kill yourself with gasoline ... My guess is this , he probably had to pay a huge amount of money to the motorcycle rental and those Russian coming in Thailand for holidays , are here on very low budget and dont have much money, the shame of asking to the family etc .... can be that reason. Another "fishy" story involving one more time tourists and operators ( motorcycle,jet ski etc ..) . Not the best place to come for quiet holidays anymore apparently .

In a country like Philippines where prostitution is current practice , what a strange thing that adultery is forbidden and bring you to jail.

I dont know why but I am not surprise at all .. More people would use the Express airport train if the price would be cheaper .... if you are 3 persons ,stick to taxi its better ... for a person traveling alone I would agree.

There are already in Pattaya some places exclusively made for Scandinavian , so I propose they stick to it , if they cannot accept that other people have different way of being on holidays ,they should stay home.

Russians can be noisy but they pay like any body else , dont forget that Russian only travel not long ago and they have to learn many things. Do you want to lock your tourists in some "ghettos" to have peace ? Ridiculous ..... I been in many hotels full of Russian tourists , they are not more noisy than some drunk English or Germans. And without those Russians , many hotels would have already closed in Thailand.

I dont like Chinese tourists , they have no manners at all , shall I ask the hotels to change their policy ?

Of course , farang create the most problems in all the country , they cheat other farang ,they bit farang , they steal them etc ..... I just had the impression this was Thailand no ?

Soon the heavy flood with the rainy season will also be the fault of farang. The bad weather , the education , the traffic jam ,the corruption , all this is because of the farang. :jap:

There is so many better destination than Phuket in the world .....Anyway , good that it concerns only a few Thais , the majority are nice ..specially in the north. Could be a good time to change a few things.
