  1. The USA system is not regarded highly by outsiders coming from countries where we pay our workers at least minimum wage. Putting the onus onto customers is difficult to grasp and opens up situations of conflict between cheap people, and mean/greedy servers. I believe there is confusion over there with some areas introducing minimum wage for serving staff, and a really out of control tipping scene in places like Vegas.

I don't think you do, was it not this one.
  3. Yes I was a bit miffed to told 'I haven't got the balls', or I am a 'skint yobbo', when I simply feel I don't need my living arrangements to be condoned by others and certified by silly religious ceremonies..... it kept me away from difficult situations/decisions like sinsod too!
  4. He was not 'exiled'......far from it. Look the word up. Either the laws of the land are enacted and followed, under penalty of punishment, equally, or we are in some banana republic. Either quash his conviction, or enact it!
  5. Or some may take the view that he should be subject to the law of the land, and his conviction enacted. It might make Thailand look somewhat less corrupt and other political figures realize they are not above the laws, and integrity and responsibility is required of them. Sounds good, but nonsense with Mr T relaxing in a hospital waiting for his much reduced sentence to be shortened further.
  6. Nor does one include or obligate the other..... rather a negative attitude to suggest most female university students are bar workers. I will give her the benefit of the doubt.
  7. I quite like the guy. If you had any negative information or knowledge of his ambitions, I was intrigued and wanted to know a source to read more, and check it out. If you believe my asking for that, is me blindly accept anything someone opines about....perhaps I can suggest the opposite may be more accurate.
  8. Sure they were available many years ago, or was that sheeps' heads? My mother would ask them to leave the eyes in to see her through the week!
  9. I have noticed them throng the VAT tax rebate kiosk in departures too.
  10. I am presuming they will get 30 days of Visa exempt like most do, although I have not seen it stated yet. It is said it will be a temporary measure for the high season, although I would expect Chinese NY to be included. Not sure if putting that genie back in the bottle will be easy, but it was done for the post Covid measures.
  11. Her father and brother share a pickup and deliver for Shoppee.
  12. I am confused, pretty much all of Europe gets Visa Exempt entry to Thailand already. And it is hardly like they return the favour for Thai travelers to Europe.
  13. That's business.... maximize profits, ie charge what the market will bear. They aren't running a subsidized travel operation... well they did in the past and it didn't get them far..... Probably a lot of fat to be trimmed off Thai yet!
  14. Firstly the family are middle class and have a shipping company, as per the OP. A million baht is not that big an ask. It was said half of it would be given back to their daughter, presumably her groom could ask if he would see any of that? It also said she was a University student not a bar worker. There is a failure to grasp both the local culture and what was in the original post in your comments.
  15. And put them all in a ward, rather than private rooms, Mr T included, all handcuffed to their beds?
  16. Banking Apps is what concerns me a lot.
  17. If they feel it is cheap, it suggests they spend.... the tour groups are aways taken into a lot of shops, and Thais love to sell cheap junk!
  18. They do a better job or raising spoiled entitled brats than a Hollywood Diva!
  19. Some data going around that more modern Chinese visitors are independent travelers and spend quite a lot. You may be thinking of those being herded behind flags.
  20. Possibly, possibly more had he been from a wealthy family, and they would pay without qualms.
  21. Always scared whether I can get everything working again on a new item..as I get older technology scares me more.
