I tend to agree.. codeshare nonsense doesn't change the fact that I will be on a terrible short haul KLM flight if I go via AMS, a miserable, likely late, BA domestic if I go via LHR and heaven forbid the abysmal one via Helsinki. Where the transit occurs, and who the short haul carrier is impacts my decision a lot.

Thailand is pretty liberal wrt alcohol, and I do not see it inhibiting anyone, particularly Chinese... THB is cheaper than it was 5 years ago v USD. E Cigarettes are of concern to few. As has been stated before, the same visa requirements were in place pre-Covid and that did not prevent more than ample Chinese tourists, at the time there were many complaints about them and their numbers. If the security concerns that used to be there no longer are valid, that is one thing, so give them Visa exempt....if they still exist, to do so would be folly.
