  1. Yes I saw a recent post of pics that warned me to stay clear....
  2. Some raw item dishes are quite delicious, in the west we have steak tartar and pickled items.... I have been offered raw pork in Thailand and told it is safe as the pig was squealing it's head off moments earlier! I nevertheless avoid raw things and undercooked items as best I can...
  3. Lots of different attitudes to this so we will see both sides.... when I first came to Thailand I attended a village wedding and saw the old crones clucking over the tray of money and gold, and found the whole thing distasteful .... I later heard it was all for show and the couple would get the money back. My attitude has softened over the years. The other side of the coin is that women can be bought for plenty less in Thailand....if you get my drift. Beware an avaricious family is all I can think.....
  4. Perhaps not at all.... fish from the Mekong or some stagnant waters, or the seawaters off Pattaya .... anyhow, topic isn't about Japan....
  5. I am using Bolt in Pattaya (or from where I live just outside) to get cars and have never had a cancel, but I have cancelled a few at the Pattaya end myself as they don't seem to be even moving.
  6. Perhaps so, but raw fish, straight from the water can also come with plenty of parasites...I would think avoiding raw fish (and other meats) is a safer approach. I have also heard of negative comments relating to the much loved and eaten Som Tam, some versions of which contain small raw crabs.
  7. And where was that mentioned and what has it to do with the topic? Making a strawman... badly.
  8. Are we to have a free visa policy or a visa free one, quite different I believe?
  9. And why did you have to pay this particular cab in cash..... does the reason invalidate some of the prior comment you made? Some of these older WIN guys I would never expect them to accept other payment methods than cash, in fact I keep plenty change to avoid 'no hab change' scenarios. And my Bolt profile says my preferred payment is cash so I should stick to that.... I expect I will get into the QR code scan thing in time.
  10. Yes, he will be along shortly... rumour has it he has not been well.
  11. Sorry, I drive a 3L diesel truck... I want to get there!
  12. Doubtful..... other sick prisoners can likely rot and pass with little comment. Didn't we lose a Western prisoner not long ago.
  13. My Mrs keeps telling me of serious goings on relating to police here and many being removed and a few shot... involving quite senior members of the force. I haven't read much of it in English news.
  14. They have moved all the tills around again in BigCX..., I get a sense that the convenience lines for those with half a basket full are being covered less in preference for the big weekly shop. I let the elderly person with a single item pass me... soon that will be me!
  15. Tipping is another issue, I would like to see them paid a decent fixed income and not be dependent on mooching off customers.
  16. Or conversely, there may be complacency, that now private vehicles are not pumping out the pollutants, we can afford a bit more at the power station chimneys! Reducing that requires some focus and long term effort too..... along with public transport, goods transportation (HGVs and the like), trains, lawn mowers and many other sources, even rubbish disposal. I was in Bangkok recently, and despite the electric trains, I felt it unsafe to even breathe with the level of vehicle pollution.
  17. That surprises me a little, always thought it was not allowed, the big ones would be a chore to change that's for sure.
  18. It is putting it behind closed doors.... a more family friendly sight than say soi 6 at 8pm. Step in the right direction maybe.
  19. What triggered my comment, was when I went out to my vehicle yesterday. Walking through BigCX carpark, I passed quite a few cars/trucks with sidelights on, and engine running.
  20. How much of that current consumption could be attributed to EVs ATM.? You make a good point well though.
  21. At least they don't sit in their vehicles with the engine running in car parks!
