visa required
Have to put money (800k) in the bank or pay an agent a lot...... (advantage might be to get a retirement extension to cover future years), If it is a one off trip I think Orchis idea of METV is best.... or a single+extension+border bounce)

Pheu Thai leader to nominate Pita as PM candidate on Thursday
Not sure.... cynically feel Thailand will keep going while Western countries work to catch up on that issue!

Public Urged to Prepare for Emergent ’Langya’ Virus
Nonsense.. applying terms like 'face diapers' and winging on about a few Thai folks wearing masks is the act of a cry baby who probably holds a grudge over having to wear masks some years ago in the bank. We all know some nationalities in particular have problems being required to comply. They should mind their own business, what some random Thai strangers choose to do in their own country is up to them. Hardly breaking news! Not wearing a helmet is also a choice..... Thais make it every day.

No government is safe in any way, shape or form
I think of it as an island State. City is not a correct term as it has independence of Governance, currency and many other attributes.

Thailand braces for 150,000 dengue fever cases
Well it doesn't go in a bedroom. I had a much cheaper one similar to what is shown there, but with a little couple of LEDs and fan.. powered with a USB connector, wasn't particularly effective. Me and mozzies have a long history.....bought one when I first came here with a 12 inch black light tube, and HV grid, looked like a bird cage.

I like the ones with a high voltage grid cage, that give a satisfying electrical ZAP when mozzies get sparked,

US$2.8Bn worth of Thai durian exported to China in four months
I had 2 bought for me this season.... but it is worrying that such a huge quantity were exported, especially if, as you say, many locals could not afford them this year.. If the Chinese want them, make them pay taxes.

Some banks do not support laptop banking, eg I believe SCB are getting rid of theirs.

Jomtien extension of visa currently
If it suits your schedule, in the last week, not sure there is a right answer. They sometimes send people away if they come too early and are feeling grumpy.
