The OP question relates to a minibus in the Pattaya area to Bangkok... yet you choose to distract bringing up accidents in far flung countries. Even the OP is aware of that reputation.

They historically had a lot of foreign reserves to do that with..... I personally do not think it would be that weak... if anything it is the traditional strong countries whose nations are debt ridden and should be much weaker.

I do too... we have evidence of people trolling, and generally using the emojis to irritate others they have issue with. Now able to hide behind their anonymity. I also miss knowing who the positive posters and reactions are.

I wouldn't worry about that, the agents protect themselves.... and I suspect if the 800k was retained somehow, you would not be getting your passport back. I heard of 2 cases, one a pal, had to hand over ATM card and the PIN, he kept a near empty account for this purpose. He got an SMS of the money going in, and it being removed several minutes later. Another told me he never saw it happen and yet a bank letter appeared... he suspected they used their own account somehow. In some cases a senior IO can probably just sign off on there being no bank letter.

Been through a couple of police checks last 2 weeks on The Railway Line Rd, under the Hwy 7 flyover. Not stopping westerners, and they appeared to be searching both motorcycles and trucks....I wonder if that was part of their efforts.
