  1. So they spent on average about 46,000 baht each? It actually doesn't seem that much.
  2. Oh we get all of that from some of the other guests that were cheered off the planes onto red carpets..... nothing new here except they cover all the bases in one,
  3. Fortunate indeed, I wish I did..... my Mrs seems to make up for me though and we really need a revolving door on the toilet for her. How did we get onto this topic?
  4. Let us hope so.......unusual on this forum for anyone to accredit good decisions to Thai authorities, unless it suits their own beliefs. The rest of the world (what is that 4 or 5 countries in your estimation?).... was subject to some desperate situations due to past errors....what they try to do now is a half hearted approach, unlikely to achieve much.
  5. No, a few more arrive on every plane.... to entrust so much monetary value to someone he likely hardly knew was beyond belief..... I don't even grasp what the 9 million up-front was, key money? Places can be had without key money, and I do not grasp how a place requires both a lease and a monthly rent. Expensive lesson.
  6. Ministry of spittoons, crowd control and elephant pajamas!
  7. It is some years since I had a break there in HH... IIRC it was near Xmas and the place was packed with Scandewegians. Not a chance of getting to sleep before 2am!
  8. I am pulling things out of the air but I guess I hear of such incidents in this area (Banglamung) at least once a year.. also include the odd one where someone has gone to sleep on the railway lines! There are quite a few crossings.. Makes me fearful of when we get the high speed trains up and running!
  9. Not surprising, have you seen the roads!
  10. If you happen to still be alive......
  11. No ranking involved... I exclusively use Big-CX, plenty of parking and quite easy to get to... especially if you go early. I back it up with a couple of supermarkets near the house and the Expat shops. The ones near the house just don't seem to stock the variety needed.
  12. Do you get the hoards of Thai visitors in HH for the New Year? I know my wife's brother and family went there. If not for traffic I always assumed it might be a better option than remaining in Pattaya which is just crazy busy ....
  13. They aren't overly keen on Westerners in many cases...since Chinese are helpless tourists and need guides and attractions, transport and be fed directly, I still contend they effectively are a major benefit to Thailand.. it is evident by how much attention they give to getting them back.
  14. There was certainly good money in it......
  15. Is it really just a few... or the many who will accommodate and feed them, take them on the tours, ferry them to an island, flog them an overpriced picture cling filmed to a cheap polystyrene food tray! There's money in numbers.
  16. If they (Ukrainians), could arrive here in many thousands with plenty spending money I expect they would be welcomed, anyhow there is no embargo against them. Instead they huddle round a candle in the cold and dark remnants of their homes... destroyed by missiles made by Russians, Russians who might well be enjoying the sun in Phuket!
  17. It is a facilitation! They see it as another's crime not theirs..... they are paying an agent and have no direct contact.
  18. Aren't other countries testing them pre-departure?
  19. Yeah, at least the pages don't get stuck together!
  20. It is, along with driving under the influence of it? Well I never......
  21. Refusal to be subject to a test there and then, be it a blood test or breath test is a crime in itself perhaps. I believe that is a right afforded to many citizens of other countries.... such refusal will produce similar reaction to a positive test.
