  1. Pheu Thai deputy leader Kanawat Wasinsungworn warned yesterday that the Democrats are reviving memories of the May 19 turbulence at their peril. "You know who killed protesters," he said, "but can the government prove the red shirts burned buildings?"

Really, some of us saw it with our own eyes, Guns and Fire. and more to the point the Leadership of the Reds was telling them to do it. What other proof do you need?

Everyone knows... :D We don't need to prove it was red shirts!

The single largest portion of the electorate believe that burning some buildings in retaliation for stealing their votes and shooting at them is a reasonable response.

Which is why the people of Thailand do not need their representation. Rational thought is necessary.

  2. I think the LAST thing you want to do is be near ANY Thai politicians in the next 3 weeks.

Except Chuan Leek Pai, No rally campaign in Lampang, he visited the local markets, spoke to everyone, listened to everyone (PTP voters included), No visible security protection. My wife told me that a Thaksin addicted family before will vote for Chuan Leek Pai.

Chaun was the best PM this country has seen in my 24 years here. I may be crazy, but I believe that he is an honest man.....

  3. Que Sera, Sera,

    Whatever will be, will be

The future's not ours, to see

    Que Sera, Sera

    What will be, will be.

    Farangs save your breath.

Just make sure you've stocked up on everything you need from Bkk for the next couple of months.

Thanks for the advice. But the only thing I need in Bangkok is a flight in or out of here.

  4. Scandalous, is anyone aware of any other democratic countries where the military head is so vociferous (I am talking about first world, not 3rd world banana republics).

He has said the army will remain neutral so why go against that with this press conference, I believe he said he was speaking in his position as a civilian (this was my understanding from television this morning) so why is he doing this in full military uniform, well to be fair, why is he doing this anyway? maybe he can see his job slipping away and maybe he can forsesse a full investigation into what happened last year under his command.

If anyone things the military do not run this country and thinks the army did not do a deal last year with the dems (even though abhisit admitted this last week that a deal was done) then they are sadly deluded.

    Cue the cheerleaders now.

How do you compare Thailand in your statement? Third world or other democratic countries? Personally I believe this is still the third world, so what are we to expect? Everybody grew a brain since last May, or the same old ****? The same old stuff it what I expect. Open eyes and take a look around.

  5. The invitation, coming less than a month before the polls, was deemed too late to prepare a full-scale EU election monitor team to come to Thailand, diplomatic sources said.

    ...

EU observation missions usually arrive in a country six months in advance of the polls, and can involve up to 120 people.

I believe new elections must be held within 45-60 days from the date of the dissolution of the House of Representatives. Therefore, it would be impossible to invite EU election monitors six months in advance.

But not too late for someone to request the team knowing that they could not complete the task 100% in the time involved. A little face saving perhaps.

  6. You know what a fence straddler has in common with a eunuch? No balls.

He said the coup was ordered to rid Thailand of a dictatorial government (controlled lock stock and barrel by Thaksin+family) it had to be to save Thailand---Ha Ha now he would be willing to join in the Yingluck government IF she followed government democratic action... with the family record DOES he trust them ??? or is he getting in on the act for WHAT.??

    For What? For More MONEY.

  7. What a crock, European tourists do not go to Pattaya to learn about the Thai culture they go for sex, if they arrive totally unaware that Pattaya is the biggest brothel in the world they pretty soon find out and have a disappointing holiday. I must add I admire the large expensive hotel chains that are moving in, but being a cynic I suspect they have their eye on the rich middle East guys rather than mum, dad, granny and the three kids from Birmingham.I must add this guy sounds a little crazy ( read a lot ) to suggest Mexico will be a rival to Thiland ref tourism, nobody dare go to Mexico because of the drug murders. I have Mexican relatives living in LA who are too afraid to cross the border to visit their own family. does this guy work for TOT //???????

Sorry but ur post is a crock. TUI is a package tour company that cosset their guests from the seedier side of Pattaya, they don't have planes full of sex tourists as the generally travel independently.

As for Mexico, Cancun is still a huge tourist destination regardless of the problems in the rest of the country.

Jeez, gotta love Thaivisa, old crones with no knowledge of the subject tapping away on their keyboards like the fountain of all knowledge. I heard a guy in a bar a few days ago tell another old crone 'you've got nothing to say, and you are saying too much of it'. Rather fitting don't you think....

I agree totally with your statement. I went to Cozumel last year to SCUBA dive with my brother who still lives in the states. Not one problem. Flew direct from Houston. And the plane was packed both ways. I am one of the old cronies, but I have lived in Pattaya for 24 years and except for the BIB which are everywhere I have had no problems. Loud Russians, of course. But the Brits, wow. Soccer hooligans delux. Loud cocky fighters with men or women. And they are everywhere you go. Not just Thailand.

  8. Two soldiers doing anti drug questionnaires? You do not use the military to do any questionnaires like some high street MORI poll.

Why not? The Thai army are involved in policing the drug industry. Therefore, they are involved in anti-drug questionnaires.

    Totally agree

  9. So what was the army doing in the district in the first place? Maybe if they wern't there, the villagers wouldn't have been intimidated. They say they are NOT involved in the politics so stay out of a "red zone" and try hanging out in a "yellow zone" for a change. Remember them? The ones who seized the airport bringing Thailand to a halt.

Why can't the country just go RAINBOW?????????????????????

  10. Yingluck better get a handle on thisph34r.gif

She scares the living daylights out of me. I can honestly say if she is Prime Minister and they absolve her brother of his crimes, even though convicted, I will move to another country.

Reds make the problems and Reds blame the whole country for the problems. They are never at fault. They remind me of earlier times in America and the problems with the Mafia. The Mafia was the law and they owned the police. Scary stuff

  11. Fresh face or not, well-liked or not, potential first female PM or not, breaking out in tears or not, she is a Shinawatra. Don't get fooled by your own sentiments and affections towards her pretty face. She WILL answer to her big brother. HE will pull all strings. There is no escape for her from the all-powerful ties of a Thai-Chinese family and the dominant figure within it. My opinion anyway. Honestly, I find the current euphoria about her rather unsettling, if not worrisome.

    I second that!

  12. Thaksin might have abused his position somewhat and "lined his own nest" ...

BUT AT LEAST HE HELPED THE "LITTLE" THAI PEOPLE !!!

The hard-working Thai people in the villages LOVE him !!

Not true, our nanny lives there and they don't like him. They are scared of what he can do to them. And they never liked him. It was the cash he spread around for the elections. He bought his post, and then stole billions of baht from the Thai people. Some have figured it out.

  13. I will be very happy to see him back.

This government has done nothing for us. I think that corruption is the number 1 problem here from small time street vendors right up to Government officials and Army allowing drugs to come into my country. When they let them in, they get richer. The way to stop or at least begin to stop corruptin in Thailand is to give good salaries and so people can live good life. This way there will be less chance of corruptions. When my childrens come from University they can only get low paying jobs. If children can finish University and get a good job that give them enough money to live a decent life then it will help their journy in life to take the middle path and go away from direction of corruption.

I am 50 year Thai and think government must start with:

    1. Education at International standards for ALL Thai. Not only rich. English language must be good.
    2. Good health care for ALL Thai people.
    3. Thailand MUST have good internet if we want to compete Internationally.
    4. Labor standards to be set so people can be to make good money for future
    5. Stop corruption in Thailand at the same time as raising salaries.
    6. Stop drugs here and even if people need to die. The drug dealers will know a law and if continue then they know have death penalty.
    7. Have better anf fast system set up to help victoms of disasters because it seems to happen more these days.
    8. Make peace with our neighbours even if it mean to give temple rights away in Cambodia and allow access for tourist.

I also have many foreign friend who complain about the visa rules etc so maybe if government can take the fee for visas and apply it direct to Education or war on drugs then the foreigner can feel good about where the visa money goes.

I know in the world all government have corruption but when Thaksin was our PM he did not hide it like many other governments. I can accept this. Maybe if Abhisit have more money and experience he could have done the good job but it is proved that he did not and he have his chance already.

It's good to see that 50-year-old Thais educated enough to have a perfect command of English are empassioned enough about Thai politics to conclusively put down their political thoughts on a first-ever Thavisa post along with a series of suggestions to fix Thailand's problems. Did you know that your bullet points are almost exactly Thaksin's own ideas, word for word? I can see why you would vote for him.

But, hang on, you're saying that corruption is bad, and then you're saying that Thaksin was nice and open about it. You want to get rid of corruption but want the most corrupt guy at the head of your country? That doesn't seem to make sense to me. You talk about drugs and corruption, referencing the army and government. But Thaksin oversaw this whole operation, and he didn't want to change it back then - he just wanted his share. Some might argue that he was kicked out because he wanted more than his share.

And I agree, drug dealers are the scum of the earth. They are all murderers, pimps and rapists and they all deserve to die; it's a myth that the network of drug dealing is full of victims of social circumstances. And those drug mules in particular should be subject to death by genital electrocution. But, hang on, the most recent investigation - you know, the one first shelved by Thaksin and then by the Samak administration - show that less than half of the people killed had any ties whatsoever with the drug industry. Would a collateral damage rate of 60%+ be acceptable to you in the next war on drugs?

You make a lot of interesting points in your post, much like the Quadrangled Prophet himself, but really no indication of how it's going to be executed.

Could it be that Khun Thaksin himself is posting?? he wouldnt, would he????????????

Some good points and some utterly insane, but I have to say with all do respect that I have trouble believing you are 100% Thai from your post. whistling.gif

Stop corruption????? He is the Father, teacher, and Leader of the corrupt.

  14. Thaksin said he felt sad for some police officers who bought their way to higher posts. "They want to climb [the ladder to promotion] so they seek loans, extort and do whatฌever they can to get money to give to people in Government House. If the Pheu Thai Party gets to form the government, the party will do away with this illpractice,'' he said.

He taught them how to steal professionally, before they were fewer and just thugs. Now the head thug wants to put an end to corruption. Does Taksin mean "Talk out of both sides of the mouth with lies in the Thai language? lol

  15. It was still inexcusable the hotel remained open after continuing deaths. Cheapo owners excuse to control poor house cleaning issues. And of course there will be no prosecution other than possibly the exterminators being taken down as the hotel owner is related to people 'in uniform'.

Our leaders and politicians and Police hard at work. They have to take the tea money offered by these businesses. And then allow more people to get sick, maybe die.

  16. the problem is not about rating ...

the lack of general education, wrong wealth (the current generation eats up the earnings of previous generations without contribute back)

leads to more and more peoples change lifestyle to the characters in soap operas like this.

the show is just reflecting the sad truth.

for me its quite funny to see tis shit ... but i know quite a number of thai peoples looking up to this characters and practice similar lifestyle(s).

its not a matter of censorship ! it's a education problem.

    WHAT EDUCATION?????

  17. I used to life guard as a summer job. We nearly got sued in the UK when a kid went under, His parents were shocked and wanted blood.

We were investigated and found not to be in the wrong. The child, a non swimmer had entered the pool without adult supervision and gone straight under, someone grabbed him and he ran back to his parent crying in shock.

His parents quoted that he'd been in a rubber ring but managed to be on the bottom for 5mins. The claim was not logical but shocked parents might do anything to divert the blame from the fact that even with lifeguards (who are there as a backup not an assurance) a non-swimming child should Always be accompanied by a swimming adult.

I'm assuming the 10year old was a non-swimmer here based on the fact that the report says 'who was swimming in a 1.2-metre pool at the amusement park and should not have been out of his depth'.....

RIP - It's tragic for parents learn a lesson this way, I hope all other parents take notice. There could be better water safety campaigning in Thailand.

I am sincerely sorry for the death of one so young. Most Thais don't know how to swim. Some can but not properly. While we are teaching math, could we teach swimming in the schools as well. This is a tragedy.

  18. I still question the 'execution' if that is in fact what did happen. Many people are still unconvinced 9/11 was not a controlled demolition and in fact had anything to do with Bin Laden and with doubt no plane ever hit the pentagon. After all OBL was trained by CIA and like the 9/11 demolition and the other so called covert weapons of mass destruction (WMA) theories by the US - the sudden 'execution' of OBL would seem the US would have gained more by interrogating him rather than an execution. So again - what is the US hiding? It is all a bit convenient. He may well be dead and dead men tell no tales... How convenient...

    Another conspiracy theory

  19. My GOD, What fool wrote all of the above crap and he had the hide to say that this came from experts?

But experts say the fighting could play into the hands of Thailand's military-backed elites who want to prevent the political allies of fugitive ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra taking power.

    Chris WHO?

Some fear the border clashes could even be used as a reason to put off the parliamentary polls.

"There is an undercurrent of attempts to create a crisis that could be used for delaying, or delaying permanently, an election," said Thailand-based scholar and author Chris Baker.

    And this from another EXPERT?

The dispute "gives the military an excellent opportunity to remain in the political limelight," said Pavin Chachavalpongpun, a Thailand expert at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore.

Give me a break, I have never heard so much crap in my life from a Journalist and they pay him for this. :annoyed:

I completely agree. But be careful; now, not only do they write dribble without knowledge they speak before they think. Even our ASSistant PM does not trust foreigners. We are looking to move to another country after that statement. But the scariest part is "They Live Amongst Us"

  20. Bribery is part of the problem but the laws/rules governing a start up business are ridiculous.

If a Farang wishes to start a business that will employ Thai people he 1) has to have a Thai partner or 2) Two Thai Directors.

In the case 1, The Thai partner, who may not have any money can run up debts etc and the Farang is legally responsible. While partnerships are simular in the west there are ways to control irresponsibility. This does not seem to be the same here.

Case 2. The Thai directors must have full access to the bank account.

While I trust everyone !! it makes the whole idea untenable, even if the partner is the wife.

What are the laws in the country you are from? In the US it is very strict for a foreigner to own land or work with out tonnes of paperwork and time delays and partnerships. Employee's must be from the US unless you can prove that the position requires an expat.
