  1. The Thais that I have spoken to hate queue jumpers and would love to rant at them in public. Therefore, this encourages me to treat QJs with complete contempt, punctuating my verbal barrages with "ape", "monkey" etc

I have been told the same by my Thai friends. They tell me that Thais can't say anything to other Thais because the other Thai would react and cause a problem. However, a foreigner can say something becuse the Thai does not want a confrontation with a foreigner.

  2. I wouldn't even use the energy to press the remote to watchit as all wasted on me personally; just a bit kinky mostly normal. Can anyoneexplain why Gay gets so much attention? Only 5% of all folks are supposed to begay so how come they get so much publicity? Bothers me that there maybe aconversion attempt in the process especially towards younger ones.

'there maybe aconversion attempt in the process'...you must be joking. You actually believe that? This isn't religion...nobody is trying to convert anyone. You seem a little naive na....or just a little homophobic.

  3. What a bunch of moaning old farts you guys are.:bah:

Is it costing you anything now? No

Is it hurting you to have someone smile at you? No

Would it hurt you to smile back? No, unless you have just had an abdominal operation.

Can't you find enough trouble in the world to complain about, without inventing it?

Chill out and enjoy something ....just for a change.

I think it's a great idea.......have any of you flown Aeroflot lately? If not I think you should, join the other poe faces.

you obviously don't know much about the Land of Fake Smiles.....And.... There is a difference between complaining and stating the truth.

  4. Good news, as there are many criminals lurking around in the internet.

There are criminals walking on the streets of Thailand....should you stay in your house and never go out?

And if you don't like what is on the internet, you are not being forced to use it, right?

If you don't like what is on tv...change the channel or turn the tv off...you don't have to watch it....but some people want to watch the program. If you choose to be conservative ..that's your problem. Censorship is not the answer.

  5. No sorry mojo80, now i understand..all us that we follow the thai law we are stupid and you are smart because you dont follow the law, you save money and nothing happen to you.

    smart man :jap:

Thais don't even know what 'THE LAW' is. They break it everyday. ..... it's ok for a Thais to break the law but not a foreigner? More thai double standards.

  6. You "Follow the rules!" types must really hate Thai people, since most of them break the law whenever they can.

The fact is the they know the rules themselves are baloney-sandwich and making proclamations like "do the crime do the time!" and "just follow the law!" amounts to nothing more than an idiotic chanting - which is why no-one is listening to you.

Besides this appears to be just another poorly conceived proclamation by a government BigHat and this Pattaya One guy is tried to make a story out of it to sell his rag. Maybe he has more free time now that consular services like passports are processed in Hong Kong.

There's also the issue that Thailand needs a longer stay tourist visa. The US tourist visa is 10 year multiple entry, 6 months per entry and costs about 3,500 baht. The US doesn't even stamp you out of the country or fine you if you depart having overstayed let alone throw you in jail for a couple days.

If you law-mongers are still hel_l bent on making sure everyone in Thailand is following the laws only you hold so dear, go tell the red-shirts on Rachadamnoen rd they can't gather as a group larger than five, scream at the cops for driving on the sidewalk, shout at the food stands for settings up on a Monday, scold the mom and pop Thai shops for selling beer between 2 and 5 P.M, call up and berate school principles for employing foreign teachers without work permits, go wave your finger at every brothel in every city in the country, or just <deleted> and consider why of all of things happen and no-one cares.

Nice post. I totally agree with you. Everything you said is true here. And those "follow the rules" types...i wonder how many illegal DVD's or pirated software they have in their collection.

  7. Sounds like alot of back tracking on P1 part. also the fact they have started to criticize there reader base, i will certainly be avoiding there news at all cost not that i have even bothered to read anything bar what was said in tv about the overstay! I left bangkok last week with 6 months overstay and nothing was even said or done, when asking the officials they hadnt arrested anyone or new of a tighter policy change!

Really? Could you please post a copy of your airline ticket and overstay receipt? A redacted copy if necessary.

    Thanks.

    Greetings johnefallis,

I will look forward to reading your 'take' on TV in the near future of the posters speedily submitted evidence that, in my humble opinion, constitutes a very usual(UN) and, thus quite bizarre claim of total clemency by BKK Immigration.

Should said air-ticket and re-dacted visa stamp be unavailable, I will of course understand.

    rgdz from

    Brewsta

overstaying is a bad habit...you can be blacklisted by Immigration....and it does happen

Ripping off tourists and Expats is a bad habit,...that should get more attention. Overstayers aren't doing anything that affects anyone at all.

  8. A pretty thai girl is not pretty when she's just after your wallet. They're just scum. No beauty in that...at all. It just shows where some guy's brain is. That's why Pattaya is known as 'the toilet of thailand.'

Spreading clichées like this, I wonder if you have ever been to Thailand and to Pattaya? And if you have been, then I wonder why did you come? Who gave you the right to call working ladies in Thailand scum? It says a lot about you and I wish you would stay away. We don't need your "besserwisser" attitude and narrow mind here.

No apology on my side here. Just an opinion. It's what i've seen and many others here have seen and experienced in Thailand. No, maybe not ALL, what you call 'working ladies' are scum. However it's common knowledge that quite a few are very deceitful and NOT mama's good little girl.

  9. I always prefer to walk on the beach side of the Beach Road to avoid the really irritating Indian Tailors on the other side of the road.

I would much rather have a pretty Thai girl smile at me as I walk past, than some dirty scruffy Thai teenager whispering to me that he can sell me Marry-warna, coke or ice.

What is the real problem here?

For sure it ain't the girls and many visitors deliberately walk there to see what has become a Pattaya 'attraction'.

Without the girls - this city would be nothing - and broke !

A pretty thai girl is not pretty when she's just after your wallet. They're just scum. No beauty in that...at all. It just shows where some guy's brain is. That's why Pattaya is known as 'the toilet of thailand.'

  10. And you Yanks should get off your high horse. Weren't you the most recent owners of slaves in the western world?

what kind of comment is that? you're generalizing a group of people, who by the way were immigrants. Slavery is a past shame in the US. I was not alive when slavery was practiced and most people living now were not around at that time either. i don'r know one person who ever owned a slave or who would support slavery.

  11. It is not right that people should show no respect for the law. It cost me about 4000 bts to do my visa run,so I think the missed visa runs should be calculated and added to the 20,000 bts fine, say at 5,000 bts a run or maybe 10,000 to make people think twice. We all need to respect the law, without law what do we have.

it's not always right to respect the law. How can you respect something or someone that doesn't respect YOU?

  12. So anyone heard of any arrests of foreigners that showed up with 20k and a ticket at the airport?

    Anyone blacklisted...?

I paid the 20K as I was 9 months over but they let me stay in the country and accepted my application for a new non immigrant O without me having to leave the country. I'm by no means rich but earn more than 40000B a month so my visa was reissued. They're not all bad!

Shamefull. 9 months over your stay and just laughing at the face of the law, Hopefully this new law will put a stop to this.

i disagree. Not shameful at all. If you don't want to overstay that's your choice. This guy isn't you. Everyone is different and everyone breaks the law to some degree in every country. there is no shame in overstay. i'm here legally.... i just don't think if a person overstays, it's really nobody's business as long as he can support himself/herself. A girl's gotta do what she's gotta do. Look at all the gogo bars in Thailand and people selling fake items...but that doesn't seem to be illegal.

  13. 21 pages filled with (sorry to say) mostly careworn comments. You stay here then please do so accepting Thai laws. You don't like them... get out.

There are hundreds of other topics with pages over pages of complaints how Thai authorities fail to enforce the law.

And that pages hit the spot. I believe that the one thing Thailand really needs is the understanding that rule of law (and sticking to it regardless who you're dealing with, rich or poor, influential or not) is the key in turning this country away from it corrupt practices.

So,if it comes to immigration law... go with it and you won't have a problem while passing Suvarnabhumi. Stop ranting and safe your breath to get a visa renewal on time.

You don't like the laws... get out....hmmm....hows does an overstayer affect your life or the life of any Thai? Really? So it's a law.....who cares?! What do Thais lose by someone overstaying? I really don't see the problem having overstayers. They've never bothered me and i don't know of one single Thai who has ever had a problem with an overstayer.

  14. About time a country enforces it immigration laws. Hopefully the US Ambassador to Thailand will forward this information to Hillary and on to Obama and then down to Reid and Pelosi as an appropriate immigration policy.

    Borders make Nations!!

Thailand is showing the way. Are you listening US and Europe

Thailand is showing the way? You're kidding, right? It's ok for Thai police, government officials AND the general population to break the law......but an overstayer? OOOOHHHH They are dangerous farangs....look like ATM, too. ;)

  15. Crazy!

They need to Boost tourism rather than discourage those who want to stay a bit longer.

Why not charge fines for those who Understay their visa.

A two week detention order for attempted early departure.

Instead of a jail term the "runner" pays for a hotel of his own choice so there is no cost to the Thai taxpayer.

    Everybody Wins!! B)

Overstayers who can't be bothered with following things such as basic laws shouldn't be welcome.

why not? Really....Who are they hurting by overstaying?

When people buy pirated' CD's, DVD's and other miscellaneous fake items here in Thailand, should they not all be arrested along with the people selling such things? That would be the majority of Thais and foreigners now wouldn't it. THE LAW IS THE LAW

  16. Thailand is definitely moving forward but the self built road seems pretty bumpy in some places. Every country moves at it's own pace; some slow and some faster than others. But who is to determine what is really forward motion. What one person considers an improvement, chances are another person will not.

Thailand is not moving forward or backwards...it's just going in circles. A dog chasing it's tail.

  17. They love cleaning up ashes. To Thais stopping or preventing a fire doesnt fit their mental skill set!

BTW ashes and fire are a metaphor for any cause and affect situation .

I would think a good Buddhist country would be taught this. Thais must have been absent that day.

my wife is Thai and she isn't like you claim I guess you don't know all Thais ha......

I totally agree with the metaphor given here. It's absolutely true!!!! Most , (maybe not all) Thais lack this ability. I've had this discussion with quite a few well-educated Thais and some Thai friends they all agree with this also...THey are Thai. And ,yes, they did laughed a little when they said this because they were embarrassed to admit it. I just told them 'nobody's perfect'. mai pen rai

  18. Why do the Thai Police pity this self confessed murderer?

He has committed murder and should be treated the same as any Thai that commits the same crime at home. Using the intoxication and stress excuses really don't wash - he was ex military and as such should have known his own limits both physically (in terms of consumption, presumably having ample time to drink in the service) and mentally.

Some men do get violent when they are under extreme stress and drunk, but the smart ones know not to drink more than a few small bottles when this is the case.

I sincerely hope that this man does life, and suffers for what he has done. This man saw the bar girl as something less than he was, and the murder was a show of power - let the hand of justice now show its full power in return.

she may have provoked him. Many women(especially in thailand)think they can get away with murder and this time she got murdered. I'm not saying what the man did was ok but the woman may have just pushed him too far.It sounds like he was ready to snap.

  19. Go home Benny.

Please go home now as you can.

SOE can arrest you again, and this time, there may be no trial.

...and if he goes home...like he said "10 years for nothing". Thais need to learn they just can't f*** with foreigners and think they can get away with it. They think they can brush people off forever. WRONG!

I admire the guy for having the guts to stand up for himself. He's had a lot of time to think about this...maybe he has some legal tricks up his sleeve to give the authorities a run for their money.

  20. If the Reds want political reform they should go through the correct channels.

Please remove these red shirts so people can get back to their normal lives.

    "By any means necessary"

Have you heard the story about the black man sitting under the mango tree? Apparently not.

Just tell me, all of you blood thirsty western people; What would happen in your streets if your government removed all social benefits in your country. We all know. Greek would be a kindergarten in comparison. :)

why do you think westerners are bloodthirsty? We don't like violence either. ...but the Thai 'Rambos' who happen to be red-shirts need to prove they are 'men' or something. The red leaders are unreasonable, TOTALLY. They have had no plan on really negotiating like educated people. They only want THEIR way and THEIR way only by using intimidation and threats..and if that means people dying...well, THEY don't care ..THEY just wanna win, because if they don't, they will lose face. ..and we can't lose face now, can we? You must do anything, ANYTHING to not lose face here.

  21. reds are fighting for democracy. they ask for reelection. so the who support the gov are simply brainless nazi.

you are the brainless one here

following insane red leaders that sprout undemocratic violence.

the reds don't want democracy..they want a free ride.."give me money so I don't have to work"

Obviously, you have not been around Thailand very long. Who do you believe grows the local food and raw materials within Thailand? Who drives the taxis, buses, etc.? Who are the majority of the people in the military? Who are the majority of the people who work the low paid service industries in BKK and the tourist towns? They are rural people (non-BKK, Pattaya, Phuket) who, in general, side with the red shirts. Redshirts and their supporters are harder working people than most of the elites who sit in cozy desk chairs.

I have been traveling around LOS for the past 1 1/2 years shooting film footage of muay thai and wildlife/nature related activity. I have been all over the country and been in almost every province except a few in the deep south. I have had many different Thai film crew members on my staff during this time. Many speak English somewhat well. My Thai girlfriend travels with me approx. 70 % of the time. I talk with them and her and they relay information to me. I can tell you that the majority of Thais support the redshirts even though they might not support the long demonstrations in BKK. Many of these "reds" are extremely hard working people and without them Thai society would be in trouble. They are the producers in LOS. They are not pencil-pushing elites sitting in a cubicle in a highrise in BKK...not breaking a sweat. i

I suggest you travel throughout all of Thailand like I have and maybe you will learn something about LOS. I have been in LOS and the neighboring countries off and on for about nine years. It sounds like you are a newbie who hangs out in some tourist area or BKK. FYI...most Thais outside of BKK do not even consider BKK part of "Thailand". They consider it a corrupt, spoiled, foreign, non-Thai cultured enclave. If you are man enough I suggest you travel throughout LOS for a few years... into all the non-tourist towns and provinces and talk with the majority of the masses and enlighten yourself. Come to Cambodia with me. I will show you a thing or two.

    Khun Boran Khmer

You must have travelled around a different one that I did :) I see so many social problems thru the lack of the things you describe that it's no wonder the countrys at war with itself

You even use a Thai name(isn't that special). I agree with the responses to your 'travel thru Thailand' speech. You seem to have been brainwashed by you GF or something. Are you sure it was Thailand you traveled around?

  22. i'm sure there will be a lot of 'armchair general' farangs happy that the army are just shooting unarmed people!

Have a look at this picture. Can anybody see a just reason for killing this person??

if the person was in the war zone doing something they shouldn't be doing, sorry to say, but they asked for it. Everyone has been warned to stay away. I think killing innocent people is wrong, but the red-shirt leaders really asked for this. They are using terrorist tactics, therefore their people are terrorists...terrorists deserve what they get.
