    Why do these measures come up only for Songkran? Yes, Thai roads are worse during the holidays, but they suck year-round; why not work to reduce the carnage year-round?

    Why not test for alcohol on every serious accident, all the time?

    This has all the usual noise of being a "crackdown" which is essentially meaningless noise that passes in a day or two. Like a fart.

    Thailand- are you proud to have the most dangerous roads in the world? Do something!

    Well last year in our town,two 20 something girls obviously drunk,became amarous together and next thing were on the ground kissing and fondling each other,a group of young lads egging them on,shorts and panties off one girl came off,and the other was down on her,then the Police came and stopped them,i was most dissapointed,it was just harmless fun.

    If that is the case, this year I may make a Songkrahn excursion, rather than digging in at home with 4 large boxes of beer for 7 days

    my intelligent thai friend told me, in cases like this, to flee , so to avoid beatings and killings by the locals; told me to go to the police station for protection;  hmmmm; police,protection,local mobs;;

    not good

    On the other hand, it would be a great help in natural selection. The "idiot" gene might eventually disappear, and in 10,000 years or so, Thailand would have average road death statistics.

    Try Pattaya2U. They now have two shops - one (again) in Tukcom, I think it's 3rd floor, go straight to the back of the floor when coming off the escalator. The other is close to Tukcom parking - when you're standing in front of Tukcom parking, look 90° right, about 200 meters (corner shop).

    These guys are really good, no rip-offs, and when they tell you a HD is fried, you can believe them (they've got some pretty good tools).

    They repair Windows and Mac machines. Got a battery in a 3-year old MacBook air replaced (original parts!) at a dream price. And there's warranty on all they do. If they can't fix it, it's free. Highly recommended (disclaimer: I have no other connection to them aside from being a highly satisfied customer).

    That is where I have been going for last 10 years...... Like the corner shop, as easy to park near there

  5. I live close to the intersection and drive by virtually every day. There is a pedestrian bridge 50 m away, but most Russians there prefer to walk across the road. The great danger is that some look right, when they should be looking left, and late at night, vodka may be a factor. Even slowing down for pedestrians is dangerous (for them), I slow down but the car behind me overtakes and zaps them as they come out of his blindspot.... I usually hoot and  make it quite clear that I ain't stopping, for their own safety!!!!!!

    Premchai clearly has a lot of things to put in order, and then, there is all that packing to do, money to move around etc.

    However I am sure he will have it all completed prior to March 24.

    Sure he is 80% complete now.

    I hear he is in Myanmar already
