  1. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra arrives at an eatery in Chiang Mai that sells noodle soup for Bt30 a bowl. Guards paid close attention after an uneven floor caused her to fall outside the shop

The graceful PM pirouetting out of her van at the food shop.

More money for public works is required in the rural areas and not just Bangkok. Welcome to how the other half live.

Well her families government have been in power at different times since 2001 for over 7 years. Why haven't they?

Isn't Chiang Mai Thailand's 2nd largest city. Hardly rural!

Sent from my XT1032 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Actually Nonthaburi is by far Thailands second largest city.... just a point.. wai2.gif

  2. "violently manhandling her"

The minuscule bruise must have been life-threatening.

    rolleyes.gif

Were the guards in the wrong?

    Yes

    Is the complainant grossly exaggerating?

    Yes

So if a gang of strangers chased you down and dragged you off against your will, you wouldn't be concerned for your safety. Personally I would be shitting myself and my heart would be beating overtime imagine how a woman would be feeling. No I don't think it is an over exaggeration.

She took the job, took the high salary...she ran the risk... she should have stayed away from the protests.. not a very smart lady..giggle.gif

  3. Ha, it's funny watching the endless squirming on Suthep and Dem's Thai far right when the world beyond their shores doesn't quite get their twisted version of reality.

Did you ever hear this quote.. very suitable here.. It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you an idiot, than to open it and provide the evidence. .. I think some countries ship their idiots to Thailand.. w00t.gifw00t.gif

  4. ^ How do you pronounce nineteen then? Should answer your question.

In my country 18 year old is an adult and one is fully responsible of his actions when 16 according to the law.

I call this murderer as a young man. Or are you feeling for him?

He is a teenager simply because of his age.... from thir"teen" until nine"teen"... all of this time a person is a teenager... not what I feel or you feel... its just language.

A very sad event for all involved.. RIP the deceased...

  5. I have just been to Ban Phu Nam Ron and found all the peoples there, including Immigration Officers, to be extremely friendly. The fee for the crossing is now 900 bahts but worth paying. Its an easy run from Hua Hin and our driver left at 7am and we were home by 3.30pm.. On the way back we stopped at a small "middle of nowhere " restuarant about 35Ks from the crossing. Its just passed a large building with two elephant statues on guard at the gates, so hard to miss. A very inexpensive stopping place with nice friendly female staff. Also has a small lake where you can fish for a wee while... All in all the best, quickest, and easiest border crossing to use. And only a small stamp in your passport page, which is an added bonus............ The transport was advertised in The Awol.

  6. Clearly she is the best premier the nation has ever had.

Just slightly edging out Thaksin for first place.

    Way to go babe.

    What an angel.

    Keep it up.

Clearly a post that needs professional help. Agreeing is one thing letting your daft out another.

The P.M. is continuing to do her duty. LIKE what ??? refusing to appear on charges, resting in safe areas. If her popularity was so overpowering she should without fear be able to tour freely around. PROBLEM the PTP in governing have made more enemies than friends.

Sure she need to continue her duty, who else would be governing the country.

She can't tour freely around because the stupid, armed and violent whistle blowers are out there.

The first one to not appear on charges was Suthep, and after 3 months he still did not !

Problem to the whole situation is Suthep.

He's the one who seized government offices so the government could not do their job anymore

He's the one who boycotted the elections so there is no new government ready.

He's the one making a lot of enemies.

YES, He is a Hero....... thank God he is there..

  7. Elected by who?

And why can the election of a people's parliament be completed but not a normal election?

Shannon, surely you know the answer to this question before you asked it.. Obviously you live "up country" and left your brain behind.. come back to civilisation and learn the truth about your beloved PTP... do you have just the slightest idea how much they have cheated and stolen from the Thai taxpayers.. But Oh yes... your wife told you..

  8. It is hard to imagine a situation most serious than this. A sitting cabinet minister attends a rally that calls for secession. It also calls for readiness for an armed rebellion. And it also admonishes the independent agencies. A sitting prime minister fails to show up to a commission that could lead to her impeachment and removal from office. She attacks the institution on facebook, clearly encouraging the UDD. The UDD cements the NACC from the world before they vow to go to the EC and the Civil Court. It is a horrible situation, and likely prays on Prayuth's mind continually. After all, he is sworn to protect the constitution. And so with these full-frontal assaults on the constitution's empowered institutions - like the independent agencies and the judicial system - the county has been placed in the most dangerous position that it's in. The constitutional process should see this through. It is working. But if the judicial process is impeded - then there is no more dangerous situation than that.

You are completely right in what you say.... He is sworn to protect... Bring in the soldiers now and crush the communists... Today..

  9. Over to you bully boy suthep !

If Suthep agrees then will Chalerm and Jatuporn have the authority to make binding statements / agreement that can lead to a lasting resolution during the debate - statements which YL and the rest of PTP will be obliged to stick to.

I'd beat my life that answer from within the ranks of the PTP would probably be hell no!! Which makes Surapongs idea rather pointless as it would just be a 'talking shop' rather than a negotiation on ending the political impasse.

I personally would love to see Suthep and Chalerm go head to head, especially with Chalerm taking binding decisions on PTP behalf. His track record is brilliant - Didn't he agree to be beheaded if Taksin wasn't back by the end of 2013?

The basic premise of this argument is false.

It suggests that binding agreements about Thailand's governance can be made in a forum outside Parliament, and ignoring the majority electorate who have allocated places in that Parliament.

Debating, arguing, negotiating or whatever one wants to call it, with the coup-monger leadership is no different than the speeches, pontifications, harangues and getting up on a soapbox which are part of an election campaign.

For the coup-monger leadership to think they can make progress outside Parliamentary and Electoral Democracy is not only an affront to an electoral majority, but reflective of their basic anti-democracy philosophy.

That said, one also does not acquiesce to a weakening opponent. Sparsely populated blocked streets by dwindling protesters as evidenced on Social Media last night, is at the roots of this sudden Suthep conversion to discussions. Trying to set the stage for such discussions with great bombast, is merely a bluff seeking to maintain a false aura of dealing from a position of strength.

When one cannot "force the issue any further", one quickly pivots to negotiations, before such a weakened position becomes apparent.

But as Ms. Y. stated, that will only occur within a constitutionally supported set of rules detailing Thailand's Democratic and Electoral democracy form of Govt...

Those things are non-negotiable....It implies that discussions and considering political alternatives in a binding sort of way, will only occur within a Parliamentary setting, not one within such discussion proposals envisioned by anti-democratic forces.

Should such an idea progress, I can imagine the electoral majority being up in arms, about how their votes are so diminished.

    Gee mate.... get a life...!

  10. Suthep may win this battle eventually, but the war hasn't even started.

1000 Suthep sponsored farmers on their way to Bangkok, but millions of farmers at home knowing exactly what is going on.

If Suthep gets his people council, it will mean civil war for Thailand.

The Army knows it and that's why they're not pushing Suthep over the finish line.

How do you know this..... words are cheap and this is obviously your wifes view... let her post her own words.. and I would think with your pick of nom de plume, that you have some celtic blood in you...shame on a fellow Celt...

  11. This is about much bigger things than politics, and the anti-democratic 'Yellow Shirts' have played their hand brilliantly as they tightened the noose around a democratically elected government. I just worry about the repercussions...

I just cannot believe for one minute that anyone with one single gram of brain-cell really believes that PTP were a "democratically" elected government. They bought bullied and conned their way into power.. now that is backfiring on them big time and the "farang" appologists amongst us farangs cannot see the truth.. Jesus,..... Frustration is the wet nurse of violence. Reap what you sow......wai2.gif

  12. I wonder if Tida and the rest of the Communists intend to return to the jungle and start a Khmer Rouge type insurrection like they did before.

Your statement is a simplistic attempt to raise the bogeyman of "commies". It is 2014, not 1950 and Senator Joe McCarthy the master of manipulation drank himself to death long ago.

Professor Thavornseth was an accomplished microbiologist and had a career on the rise until she made the sacrifice to join the pro-democracy uprising in 1973. It was that uprising that ended the brutal military dictatorship that had ruled Thailand with an iron fist. Subsequent to the 1976 massacre of students at Thammasat University and the reinstallation of the military dictatorship, her name was put on a target list for execution by the death squads that were roaming Thailand at the time killing the opponents of the military dictatorship. Yes, she fled to the jungle and the only group to offer her protection and support were the communists. She had no other option. It was flee or end up raped and dead in a field. She hid out for 6 years enduring hardship and suffering, all because she believed in democracy. She was non violent and it has never ever been alleged that she engaged in any acts of violence. She is the one UDD leader who has remained firm in her belief in non violence.

    Unluckily she fled.......

  13. The way I read it is that if a quorum cannot be reached in 30 days, a new house cannot be convened and a new election must be held.

Is there any part of the constitution that forces the EC to hold elections in a certain time frame in the case of a quorum not being met?

If not, all bullying, bluster, and bluff as per usual.

"The way I read it is that if a quorum cannot be reached in 30 days, a new house cannot be convened and a new election must be held"

Probably correct in one form or another...And is exactly the intent of the EC.

This is not the "independent" body the PAD-Dem's would like to characterize it as.

Such a conclusion cannot be avoided when assessing all their actions....most eggregiously the one whereby they tried to further the aims of the Coup-mongers and their shadowy Elitist supporters by cancelling the election....Thereby throwing Thailand into a Political 'black hole'.........Everything considered, one cannot avoid the conclusion that it is 'election' or 'coup'........diddling with the process that threatens an election as the PTP charges the EC with, is by extension and in effect, opting for a coup.

Anyone who disagrees with this, is not considering the views of the electoral majority, who faithfully trooped to the voting booths on Feb. 2nd. Or at least that is what I am hearing from the UDD/RS's, and is their firm belief.......But then the electoral minority protesting on the streets of BKK have nothing but disdain for that electoral majority....believing to their very bones they have exclusive and unassailable political insight to which all others must conform...exactly bass-ackwards from political parties in traditional Democracies. They spend millions segmenting the electorate and developing policies attractive to those segments.

Any possibility of you re-writing this article in plain easy to read English... there is one born every second..!whistling.gif
