  1. I've got my stockpiled dried rations and emergency medicines, in readiness for more of these "democratic" actions. And attending my prayer group almost daily, in the hopes that no more people will be injured or killed in this pointless circle of belligerency.

Well bloody good for you... I have my stockpile of Single Malts, lots of Gin for afternoons, plenty and more plenty of Shweppes tonic... and this pointless circle of belligerency, is where the fun begins.... Bring in the Army.... Rock on Thailand... if I knew you were coming I'd have baked a cake...w00t.gif

  2. so how many thousands against 20mln voters, millions, who were prevented from voting and millions intimidated by armed and violent mob?

These are more civilized and orderly than Red Shirt. It shows the level of education. for my money I rather the educated people make decisions than uneducated at anytime

i love the "Too Stupid to Vote" argument. They always set the IQ bar a couple of points below thier own level.

and as you speak about IQ Dr Brucie.... your "thier" should be spelt "their" must also be a "Too Stupid to Spell" argument..! clap2.gif

  3. The state must be in good condition as she has time for this. There is obviously nothing more important to attend to.

Aren't you one of the people who laments the fact that the PM doesn't visit the south? And now you take a romp in the gutter to offer the comment that she " obviously has nothing more important to attend to".

The fire was a major catastrophe. Thousands have been affected and thousands are worried. In the real world, this qualifies as a serious event. The PM came in her capacity as PM to reassure the public and to offer support. That's what a PM is supposed to do. You may not think this important, but the thousands of local residents, with the exception of 3 idiots blowing whistles, probably do as well. You would be the first to criticize her if she attended a cabinet meeting and didn't visit. Your hatred blinds you, and it's a sorry indictment of your mindset.

Was it not because someone in her famly owns that Dump... and now it is Up in Smoke... same as her Amnesty Bill / 2.2trillion baht Loan..etc etc . Rock on Yinluck you will go down in History .. but as long as you go down , Thailand will survive..w00t.gif

  4. >>"The PDRC and the Democrats have common supporters"

As my teenage daughter would say, "Duh!.....Yeah!"

    >>"The Democrat leader realises that if an agreement cannot be reached between Yingluck and Suthep or Suthep and Yingluck's brother, ex-premier Thaksin , the impasse will continue and there will be no sign of it ending".

I see the media persisting in its' efforts to separate the Govt. from it's majority electorate.....As if this this is a dispute between coup-mongers and Yingluck/Thaksin.

    >>"So, the only way to unlock the political stand-off is negotiations between the key stakeholders".

That has already occurred. The most 'key' of all stakeholders is the electorate..They have spoken...I can understand why anti-Democrats want to nullify and refuse to tabulate that election, and reduce the electorate to a few people in BKK, negotiating with a minority on equal terms. It is why they try to avoid Parliament for such so-called 'negotiations' and debate, because there, THEY are reduced to their rightful numbers.

But the "anti-election Commission" and their judiciary brother's-in-arms, refuse to look at the election outcome, which they quite correctly fear.

These people refuse to acknowledge their fight is with an electoral majority, and hope that other's don't see through that smoke.

And BTW, there is no impasse or political stand-off......Coup-mongering does not a political impasse and political stand-off make. There is a very clear electoral and Parliamentary majority. If this was a 50-50 thing, then we could talk about impasse, deadlock and gridlock.

The coup-mongers relish doing what they are doing with their minority status, and using the Independent organizations and judiciary instead of Parliament to even things up.

Fryslan, in what you say about a majority of Thai peoples will vote Yinluck back into power if there is another election you are quite right.. But anyone with the slightest insight into what happens in Red-Land knows about vote-buying, intimidation etc etc.. are the main reasons for this to happen. Thats why reform has to happen for this country to get a Fair and Unbias election result. Thailand runs much better under an Army style government .. truth is most of the voters in the north don't care who rules... They just want to get on with their lives..drink Lao Kao, have babies and get moneys from Yinluck for doing nothing.. And I'm all for that too... but I'm a Farang same as you , it does'nt matter one single jot what we think... and if you are stupid enough to have taken a Thai (Isaan) wife... you should hold your tongue.. as that alone .. but but but... then again you are Dutch .. say no more..

  6. I went once to a girlie show in Chiang Mai. It wasn't x-rated, but it had tall attractive Thai women coming on to a stage in sequence, and dancing to music like trained horses. They were dressed nattily and 'danced' by standing still and lifting one leg, and then the other - nearly on beat to the (eternally crappy Thai pop) music. Both they and the audience looked bored to tears.

The message which clanged forth: There are a plethora of forces, in Thailand, which compel young women to be sexual floozies. Many elder Thai men and women make a career out of compelling Thai women to be vamps. Money is the main lure. Of course there are sex-workers in other countries, but in Thailand, it's a deep-set, embedded, wide ranging malady.

Is this not why men come to Thailand..? They don't come to be Buddhists.. and I have a friend called "nattily" w00t.gif

  7. ... it is utterly shameful to destroy art of any form, especially older pieces. Very sad to see.

it was an antique cannon- not a piece of art..

No, not an antique, but an important part of history. Some Thais seem oblivious to the value and richness of history, particularly if it is not "Thai".

Oh sure, some will say, but we must respect the ways of Thailand, but it goes both ways.

When the Taliban blew up the ancient Buddhas of Afghanistan, the western world rushed in to try and salvage the damage and preserve the history.

And what did these Buddhists do? I doubt they did anything.

What this temple has done and what its abbot permitted was shameful and contrary to all that they espouse.

If these folks wish to build idols and worship before them, that is their personal right. However, it is not their right to seize and destroy an historical artifact that serves to provide a touchstone of Thailand's history. It would have done society more good to have the cannon been on display than to cast another bust of Buddha. How many idols do they need to be holy?

And for once, I fully agree with this guy.. and a Touchstone of world history .. what a crime by these so called Buddhist monks...wai2.gif .

  8. The point here is that a full election was not performed on the same polling day so the election actually failed, whether the house could not be filled is nothing to do with the argument

The EC advised the government to wait but no they went ahead and did it anyway - it was a failed election attempt - simple

Sure as eggs are eggs if they did delay, the Democrats and PDRC would have filed charges to the whole party for lese majeste for not carrying out the election within 60 days as per the Royal decree!

Sure as eggs are eggs.... Wow... is this a Thai phrase.... seems then that PTP kept all their eggs in the one basket...

  10. Most thai rices are quality rices. They have mountains of it to sell and tonnage is a good start. Problem is it is at a market over supply price well below all the costs incurred. They will need to live with low price for this year at least and possibly well into next year as well looking at full year projections of 9 to 10 tons on sales to date, until they can exhaust their own stock piles and demand catches up with supply. And the absolutely stupid scheme of Pheau Thai or more correctly to Thaksin's great business skills (sic) will cost what by the time the farmers are all paid out. At least the money now being generated is cash flow to be moved to the farmers who are still owed. The EC should be demanding a clear full daily audit of cash income from rice sales vs payments to farmers to keep am eye on these thieves and the cash. .

No it isn't, only a small percentage is quality Jasmine rice and even then Cambodia produces better rice. Best in the world for the second year in a row.

The scheme has encouraged farmers to grow quick maturing rice of lower quality.

How much of what they have sold is new season and how much is stockpile is another thing.

Don't know how rice sold into the futures market is factored into this, someone who understands that market might like to explain.

The money generated from sales will now go to repaying the 20 billion borrowed and not to the farmers.

Until that 20 billion (plus the interest) is repaid none of the money generated from rice sales will go to the farmers.

How much of that 20 billion gets to the farmers once "procedures" are completed is another thing.

There will never be an audit until we get a non Thaksin proxy Govt.

What nonsense... Cambodia produces nothing of quality... nearly all Cambodian rice has been sold to the Thai government as Thai rice ... with the backing of many Thai MPs. Paul Potts killed of all the good Camer Genes.. A country of filth , and fools... and philes.... should be eradicated.................whistling.gif

  11. what a pile of complete nonsense

what exactly is their goal - does anyone really know apart from getting Thaksin back on Thai soil with all charges dropped

and what on earth is a UDD political school - sounds like something straight out of N. Korea

If these people get any traction it will be the end of Thailand as we know it

These red leaders talk the talk while the money is filling their bank accounts - but can they walk the walk or is it all hot air

The main aim is to protect the democratic government of Thailand. They have seen all but one of the democratic governments over the last 10 years ended by either military or judicial coups.

It is true that many of them would like to see Taksin back as they believe that he was unjustly removed by the Amart people in Bangkok.

I agree that it will be the end of Thailand as we know it. It will lead to the end of the Amart control and allow Thailand to become a real democracy.

Dr Bruce, pray tell.... what are those two things hanging between your legs..? cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

  12. What are they pissed about, the Government bought all their rice

well above world market prices .......Oh yes they have not been

paid. but they will still vote the same government in again at the

    next election,they will never learn.

    regards Worgeordie

What a pathetic posting from someone who obviously believes he has some sort of superior knowledge.....shame!

    But true....

  13. Why do you silly little red people never read a story before you comment. Is it the slash and burn mentality.

"The Democratic Party, in that case, would not participate in the new general election even if the party had to be dissolved as stipulated in the constitution. It will instead find another way to reform the country."

They were in power long enough ! Why did'nt they introduce these "urgent reforms" them............Because they thought they would be there for ever as they are born to be, thats why !

Who were in power long enough? Abhisits Democrats were only in power for 31 months! Most of that with the Reds protesting... or Thaksonites vetoing bills.

Thaksin's numerous family/clan governments were in power for more than 84 months!

To be fair, the point is that abhisit and co, whether they were busy fighting the UDD (for two months) or resisting "Thaksonites vetoing bills" (? I thought that was the idea of an opposition),( just how many bills were vetoed that were anything to do with these proposed reforms?) had plenty of time to mention even a fledgling idea of "reform" - there was no big "Idea" for reform proposed by the dem government, not even a hint of one.

Now, two years out of power an ill conceived attempt to pass an altered amnesty bill led to protests by the dems. Fair enough, but the checks and balances in place (and which the opposition had not complained about before in the previous 2 years of PTP government) worked and the amnesty bill was rejected by the senate.

Previously, changes to the constitution (which was part of the PTP election platform and everybody knew about) were stopped in 2012 by the CC under one of their first "interesting" rulings. They agreed that the constitution could be changed but a referendum had to take place first. Another landmark ruling, referring to the junta constitution rewrite referendum, completely ignoring the fact that the junta didn't hold a referendum before the CDA rewrote the 1997 constitution, only after - and that was of dubious value as a free and fair vote.

Alternatively, the CC said, you can alter the constitution article by article, in parliament. Seeing that the PTP only wished to make certain changes to the constitution instead of rewriting it, they chose this method. Which they did until the CC stepped in once more (well a couple of times actually) and ruled that although the gov. had amended certain articles of the constitution in the manner accepted by the the CC, they ruled these amendments unconstitutional!

The ultimate in ridiculous rulings came with the amendment to the "election of Senators" section of the constitution. In 1997 the Senators were fully elected, the 2007 Junta constitution amended this arrangement to part elected part appointed. The PTP wished to have fully elected Senators a la 1997. But now apparently, the very act of attempting to do so was ruled unconstitutional! And while they were at it the CC ruled that the government were in breach of article 68,i.e they were overthrowing the democratic regime of government with the King as Head of State, aka treason. Having ruled thus, the CC took no further action - now tell me those are the actions of a stable functional independant Constitutional Court.

Notwithstanding the rights and wrongs of the CC rulings, up until the Senate verdict, the checks and balances worked. The government dissolved parliament and announced an election in the normal timescale and that is when suthep stepped in, resolving to stop the elections happening and the dems boycotted it saying it wouldn't be free or fair despite ANFREL having nothing devastating to say about the 2011 elections.

Not content with that it was deemed necessary that the Shinawatras have nothing to do with elections (meanwhile the traditional backers of the dems were probably ruing their decision to reinstate abhisit and found themselves having to back suthep and his unconstitutional peoples council) and it was absolutely necessary to have a reform of ? (whatever, the details haven't been worked out yet) before any election take place.

Why?, the system works. Contest an election and then have the reform outside of parliament as proposed by the PTP. Seems a far more reasonable solution than dragging out the impasse whilst dragging down the projected growth of the economy and harming future investment.

Hans Christian Andersson comes to mind...

  14. fab4..your drunk..go to bed

Who are you - do you know me? No? Well concentrate on my post, come up with an intelligent counter or wind your neck in and find a thread that you can make an intelligent contribution on, maybe something about sex, or travel, or both.

Fab4... hows this for sex and travel... go stick it up your as****** and we (that is Farang with IQ higher than our shoe size) we all know your ilk... Married to some Thai devil and living up country where you don't have to compete..! get back to the tissues and johnsones cream.. its cheaper..!

  15. I don't understand why you say "nothing free"

The link you provided says ...

Both Thai and non-Thai residents changing residence into Thailand are eligible to bring used/secondhand household effects into Thailand, in reasonable quantities, free of taxes and duties. It is also required that the imported used/ secondhand household effects have been owned, possessed, and used in the country where the importers resided before returning to Thailand to resume residence.

Can you explain ? this seems to contradict what you are saying

This is Thailand... you have to pay for anything you want to take out of Thai customs... Its the "custom" If you don't pay , your belongings will stay there forever... or just get lost... Who are you going to complain to..? Welcome to Thailand....

    Welcome to the Real World...

  16. These meets must bore the bejesus out of Suthep.

All he wants is a rigged electoral system.

Why must he suffer through meet after meet of crap that he just doesn't care about.

    He has my sympathy.

He has my vote as Hero of the century in Thailand.. Don't listen to your wife.. This country certainly needs reform.. Suthep Will bring it about..This country needs to rid itself from the most corrupt governmen that has ever been in Thailand. Sutheps endeavours are right now bringing this about.. AND, just in case you did not know.. Thailand at present HAS a rigged electoral system, which is why decent peoples with brains are protesting against the Shinewatras.. Sometimes I just cannot believe the stupidity of many "Farangs" living in Thailand.. It is so embarrassing... In a very recent survey of over 2000 civil servants, 96% said they have no faith in their respective government ministers... Does that not tell us all something.. Get a life Bob.. you remind me of my goldfish, bob, bob,bob.... same brain too.....it seems..wai2.gif

  17. "One officer said it did not explode because a safety pin which has been pulled out was broken while hitting the floor."

If this officer had picked up the grenade he would have been nominated fro a "Darwin' award

Yes, the last one who attempted to do a similar thing ended up with serious injuries to his legs. He, however was trying to save his colleagues from injury, after a grenade was thrown at them during a peaceful PDRC rally.

A "Darwin" award would hardly be appropriate for that brave policeman, don't you think, rubl? Actually, I already know that answer.

But in the real world of Thailand, the words "brave" and "policeman" somehow do'nt fit together. Try "corrupt" and "policeman". Now, that has a much more sincere ring to it.... w00t.gif

  18. Good Doggie......here is your bone for being faithful to us.

Are you aware of what has been occurring for the past 10 months? The BRN finally agreed to sit down and talk with the government of Thailand. P.P. has had a major role in getting this to occur. If he goes, it could delay or even stop progress. He has to stay involved because of his active role in the negotiations. The military shuffle is also creating problems because some of the military officers involved in the talks have to be kept involved, but in accordance with seniority and military admin procedures, they would normally be moved up and out.

What is the BRN...... Oh yes... they are the ones who killed the teacher and set her body on fire... get a life gerihatrickboy, don't you understand... One cannot negotiate with terrorists.. only weed them out and eliminate them.. which is what PTP just cannot do... no moneys in that... WAR MEANS MONEYS TO GRAFT...

  19. "Ruling on poll could ease crisis"

    What crisis?

Coup-mongering does not a crisis make.

Nullifying and degrading the electoral and Parliamentary system would be a crisis.

If all this Opposition noise, trying to create an atmosphere of ungovernability, and avoidance of Parliament is a crisis, then Thailand would be in a permanent state of crisis. At least until they figured out how to win an election.

Win an election by the arrogant Elites, and this sense of crisis they are trying to create, would dissipate fast.

"But the only condition we have is the government has to resign as caretaker," he said.

"So the best way out is for Yingluck to resign to pave the way for a non-elected or neutral person to head the government and take care of the election."

After the election, the Democrat said the new government would initiate national reforms before dissolving the House and hold another election.

So do it the way Suthep's handlers want it done, is the essence of above quotes.....Yeah right!

Conduct 'national reforms' first, the quote says. Code for diddle the electoral system first, so we can win an election.....Their futility in elections is systemic, don't you know?...There is nothing wrong with the electorally-challenged PAD-Dem's, its' the system, they bleat........Idiot thinking like that is a slam against one's intelligence if they think people buy into it.

"....he had heard that the court was likely to nullify the election on Wednesday and pave the way for a non-elected government"

The best reaction to this nonsense, is a quote from Thida in Ayuthaya on Saturday:

"The way to fight via the parliamentary system has been closed. Now we will fight to the end and we will not lose...What we need is democracy. We do not care which political party forms a government but they have to be elected...".

    I couldn't agree more.

I would be happy to advise the PAD-Dem's on how to win an election......But first they need to go beyond their arrogant thinking, "I'm OK Jack, It's those idiot voters who don't appreciate our Political brilliance"

Not sure if this poster is Thai or Farang, but he sure does not live in Bangkok. And he sure has a Thai wife/partner. (Isaan woman) I would like to know how long he has been in Thailand..(about 3-4yrs I would think) and for sure he is poor as a field mouse.. and probabaly was involved in trade unions at some stage of his former life.. Chip on his shoulder comes to mind... Allow me to send him some kleenex and a bottle of baby oil... but his posts do give us a good laugh and make us feel better about ourselves..wai2.gif
