Vodafone AU SIM which according to their website doesn't require pre-activation. WiFi is True Gigatex fibre router, 500/500. Airplane mode on AND WiFi toggled back on, which I had to Google seeing as how you didn't mention it. No dice, just annoying "Turn off airplane mode to make this call" message. I'm happy for you that it works out of the box but your experience is not universal. SIM roaming is the K.I.S.S. approach and has worked fine for me for the last two years and is most likely the least mess, least fuss option for the OP.

Depending on WiFi is loso. You have to beg for the password everywhere you go. I have a friend who does that and it's totes embarrassment. Also WiFi calling just flat out doesn't work on some phone/networks so SIM roaming with data turned off and rejecting incoming calls is much, much simpler.

So without pics, how do you know if the stuff is gross or not before you order it? ????

No, I'm referring to "Italian style" pizza made with the round shape and using tomato sauce as the base. However, instead of the usual Italian toppings they use Turkish style toppings like halal ham and pepperoni. Or maybe they do an "Italian style" pizza like anchovies and olives but it has a more Middle Eastern taste to it. The place I used to order from until it went downhill also made pides with the usual ingredients like lahmacun, sujuk, eggs etc. However they never put any of the pide toppings on the pizzas, as far as I remember. And kebabs of course, that's where they got the bright idea to make a kebab meat pizza. The beef one has olives on it I think, and the chicken one had pineapple. A great big greasy tasty mess and proof that you can put just about any ol' damn thing on a pizza as long as you make it with delicious, quality ingredients.

I don't know why you say that a Hawaiian pizza is crap food, I have them occasionally and when done correctly they are very tasty and probably less unhealthier than say a pepperoni or sausage pizza. Also if you haven't had a kebab meat pizza from a Turkish joint, or a Halal Snack Pack with garlic and chili sauce, then you haven't lived. Same goes for Lebanese breakfast pizza aka manoush. I had a Hawaii Five-O last night from Soho at the Commons, Sala Daeng. It was very yummy, nice mix of savoury and sweet plus a bit of heat from the chili powder. People who decry pineapple on a pizza are either Italian snobs or wannabes. Next you'll be telling me that a kebab meat pizza is the work of the devil ????

So what? It's a few bucks more than a taxi or moto, tis nothing in the grand scheme of things. Governments and big corporations are stealing tens of thousands of dollars from you over your lifetime. But hey, save money by taking the bus instead of the convenient tuk tuk, arai godai etc etc

Plenty of good reasons. Eg. It's 4am and you stumble out of Patpong 2 and there's no taxis, only a lone tuk tuk. Easier to just mumble you destination, tell him the price you're going to pay then pour yourself into the back seat. You and all the other "tuk tuks are for tourists" brigade are boring. I'll take whatever mode of transport that works for me at any given time without getting all hung up about whether I'm perceived to be a local or not, or if I'm getting "ripped off".

And turn mobile data off so you don't use up any credit inadvertently. OR buy a roaming package for the convenience of not having to rely on WiFi like a loso ????
