Aah that explains why you were happy with the cruise. My buddy and I, his Thai BiL and his mate Pee Jack, like a bit of a tipple which is why we haven't gone on one of these cruises yet. My mate's family (a d Pee Jack) has to be invited because they help out with stuff, so a booze-only package would keep the total cost down ????

Meh. Seen that one go past a few times and it looks a bit boring. This video just confirmed it. There's another one that pumps out the Thai music, or maybe it's Isaan music, I'm not sure. I'd go on that one if they would offer an all-you-can-drink package instead of the food package. I've been told by a Thai bloke that the food kinda sucks.

Yuppy means "Young, Urban Professional". The complete antithesis of the people that run most countries.

Has BKK stopped providing free WiFi? If you have a data connection then there's no barrier to looking up the 'real' rates via the rate aggregator that's been provided a few times already. Have you even been down to the basement at Swampy and compared Super Rich et al with the city rates? I think you'll be surprised how close they are.

Visa Exemption Extension. Nov 2022

Ok no worries, saves me from telling you to take it up with Ubon Joe because I'm not going to question his knowledge! ???? -
No worries. Putting my stingy hat on now .... the only other thing I can think of is that if the amount is truly a large amount you could contact the big 3 city money changers and see if they'll do a better rate than the advertised ones. At their downtown head offices of course. Obviously they won't guarantee any rate now but it will test their willingness to negotiate. Getting out to the boondocks ASAP is your priority but is it worth losing a couple K baht over? SkyTrain trip to Ratchadamri or Suk 7/1 is cheap, safe and relatively quick. Unless you're one of those silly people that have gigantic bags they can't carry ???? http://www.vasuexchange.com https://www.superrichthailand.com/#!/en/exchange https://www.superrich1965.com/home.php

Ha ha it's a typo, should be 2023. OP mentioned his intended departure date but I missed it originally because it was hard to read his long, rambling post ???? -

Why does he need to return by air if he has a valid Tourist Visa (TR)? -

Yeah that's why I thought too but thanks for confirming that land exit, TR in VTE and land return is an option for @Stevey Still a pain but cheaper than flying or Ed Visa. -

@ubonjoedo you have any comment on this? -
If it's a credit card, yes. If it's a debit card, no, not yet. Both card types can do what you've described however I suspect you've got a debit card so you'll have to wait like the rest of us plebs ????

This website is very useful for comparing exchange rates in Bangkok. If the free airport WiFi is still a thing you can use it to see how the airport rates compare. Last time I exchanged money there was a very long time ago but I used this site to ascertain that the Super Rich airport rate was a touch lower than 1) their HQ on Ratchadamri and 2) Vasu's rate. Vasu are located near Nana BTS so easily accessible by SkyTrain from airport. If you're changing 20k EUR and the spread is say when as small as say 0,2 baht that's a 4k loss. https://daytodaydata.net/

OP mentioned that Nong Khai IO told him he had to fly to VTE for TR then fly back. That doesn't sound right to me, surely he can exit via Friendship Bridge, get his tourist visa at the Consulate in Vientiane then return via land to Thailand. Wasn't it just Poi Pet that refused exit to visa exempters? Also would he need to make an appointment for his tourist visa or have they scrapped that already? -

AirBnb host tells me they never make TM30
Lemsta69 replied to daejung's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I did some Googling because I was curious but I came away more confused than when I started! ???? You could do the same but if I was in your position I wouldn't be in the slightest bit worried about the legality. The police don't have the time or the personnel to conduct door-to-door searches of properties in Bangkok to check if there's any dodgy Airbnb stuff going on. You'd have to be reported by one of the other tenants in the condo. It's a condo, right? You're staying for 6 months and you sound like a nice guy so I doubt you're going to be throwing wild parties and annoying the neighbours. If anyone in the condo asks what you're doing there then just tell them you're on a 6 month rental contract. Re the TM30, your host seems to have indicated that he will "provide information" about TM30 so you can do it yourself. As we've discussed earlier, yes you can submit TM30 as the tenant. Maybe you can ask him for more information about how you can do the TM30 before you arrive so that you are prepared. If he doesn't give you a login and password then I guess you'll be making a trip to Chaeng Wattana as soon as you arrive in BKK. -
"Cannot yet store debit cards". So initially CC only which means this pleb can't use it ????

NFC Yes, but you might not need an internet connection to use it at the shops. https://support.google.com/wallet/thread/177978646/do-you-need-data-to-use-google-pay?hl=en I loved using my phone to pay for cr#p when I was back in Australia but sometimes it was difficult for me to find the sweet spot on the phone (I'm a klutz) so I always brought my physical card with me as a backup so I wouldn't get yelled at for holding up the line ????
