it was an extra 12k THB just for seat selection
Qatar are also charging for some seats as well now. 100 USD per individual flight for extra legroom (i.e 200 USD to UK and another 200 on return to bkk)

I get spammed all the time on AIS as well. I think the spammers just enter a range of numbers into a computer and its all automatic. They don't need to know your number, it's just in a range of numbers assigned to True (or AIS or whoever).

What the best best to get from central bangkok (not a hotel, but a dark sub soi)) to the airport at 5 am on Thursday morning?
Is Grab good at that early hour or is it better to prebook a car with someone else (airport taxi company?)
Cheers.

For me it's just a tactic by airlines. They know that they have to ramp up slowly and get staff and services back up to effectiveness so for those who want/need to travel in this next 4 months its gonna cost (currently double).
Jet A1 fuel is double the cost it was a year ago in Asia, BUT according to US GOV fuel accounts for up to 20% of a large airlines costs, so why have flight costs doubled?
BTW Jet A1 is now 7% cheaper than it was last week in Asia.
For those who can wait to travel it will come down eventually, never as low as before but not double like we are seeing now. For those holidaying its probably adding near enough to 1000 USD per pax for a holiday in Thailand. If you have not been on holiday for a while that may not matter but if your mortgage payments are going up it just may.

Of course it is, Ariel Castro held 3 women captive for ten years.
Jaycee Dugard was held for 17 years.
Just Google "Women held captive for years" and you'll find numerous such cases.
I don't question you on that. There are some strange individuals about.
My comment was based on looking at the photo of the Thai appartment block in the OP.

B4 and B5 are ripping through Thailand at the moment. I know loads of people who have caught covid in the last month who never caught it before. These two variants are super easy to catch/give.
Official figures are wrong because no one is dumb enough to tell the authorities they have it. Better to just stay at home as its just like a flu dose for most.

Thanks all! Much appreciated.
For anyone like me who has never done this.
I phoned the SR phone number, told them what I needed. They then verbally confirmed in the note denominations I needed and arranged me a pickup and pay time at their nearest outlet to me. Then they sent me an TXT confirmation.

I was looking this morning at quite a few reputable airlines

Roll forward to May 2022 and I started looking again, Emirates Biz class was now 130k +, I did end up booking a biz class return with Oman for 99,505 THB which was by far the best price available at that time. I would normally fly in to to MAN and out of LHR, that option isn't available this time with Oman, as they are not flying in to MAN right now, so it means a night in a hotel close to LHR and a 160 mile drive the following day, such is life!
My last trip to the UK was late July 2019 where I paid 58k return biz class with Oman (BKK-MAN-LHR-BKK via MCT), so yes, a lot has changed.
How did you find Oman compared to say emirates? did they have layflat?

Is there any specific reason why you need cash?

I ned to get some GBP as ready cash (i.e bank notes) next month for a trip to UK. Whats the best way to get cash? I don't have a GBP/UK bank account.
a) take baht baht cash and change at airport (UK aiprort)
b) get GBP cash here in Bangkok (how?)
c) any other recommendations.
Cheers

I searched for an alternative to PP when they last informed us of the issues with Thai regulations.
I needed one to receive money as well as make payments. Found NONE that were accepted on the services I personally used and needed to receive payments from.
So I reregistered the services I used to make bank account deposits. Have not missed paypal at all TBH. Its a bit more admin for me but PP Thailand is a dead duck for me.

My credit card registered to my account is from my country of origin. I must look into whether I can use an address in my country to register and then I need to find out if I can have my goods shipped here, to Thailand.
You need an active mobile phone number to register a Paypal account in the country that you are opening the account.

I want him gone but I don't think he will go so fast (even if history says when they go they go quick).
The two seats he lost were "sex" seats so theres a big chunk of the disgusted category votes in there.
My biggest question is who will replace him, there seem to be no real potentials.
I also fear for labour, they need a new leader to go into a new election (albeit in two years potentially) as well. Without Boris to hate and throw rocks at labour has nothing in its arsenal to attract voters.
Maybe we need a political party with a non-political head. I would vote for Holly Willoughby any day of the week.

I would have a guess the real issue here is not mentioned in the article. Its probably about "status" and looking like a police officer rather than an unknown guard.
