  1. More exercise, watch how much you eat, watch what you eat, limit the booze (although your triglycerides are low so I would guess you don't drink to excess)

Statins will reduce LDL but if your are interested in your Cholesterol as part of your cardivascular system working properly you also need to increase HDL (only way to raise HDL is regular exercise to my knowledge).

Many of us have been in your shoes. Some get away with it some get strokes and heart attacks in their mail.

I’ll remind you once again, since you introduced it into the discussion, your pension is being raised by 10%.

    I don’t hear you objecting.

So I would get nearly 1000 quid. Thats means that the average train driver should get 5000 quid in your math. Does he pay 5 times more for anything than me?

I give up with you, you have worn me down.

  3. As Mick Lynch's name has come up a few times (I think I may have started that - oops)

What Mick gets paid - 84k a year

Train drivers current salary - 24k as a trainee - then 49K (average).

Whats been offered: Network Rail had offered union members a 5% pay rise for this year – backdated to January – with another 4% at the start of 2023 and a guarantee of no compulsory job losses until January 2025. However, this offer has not been enough to halt the strike action.

I will look up the same for Border Control when I get back from my breakfast

working people receiving a decent pay

My point is what is "decent" pay. Its a nice phrase to throw around, Mick Lynch does it daily.

But should not "decent" be open to scrutiny. Surely it would be better for the public, who will not only pay for the wage rise, as well as the improvements in conditions of work as well as the resulting higher service fees (such as rail tickets) that will get passed on to as well.

I consider an average of 36K (or over 50k for rail drivers) to be "decent". You may not, I accept that.

Undermining the struggle of working people to obtain a fair wage and working conditions.

Its an average of 36K/year (lowest is 25k and highest 48k for standard officers according to GlassDoor). They are being offered a 2% rise.

As a UK tax payer and pensioner they are doing a lot better than me.

  6. Musk himself has admitted (in court) that Tesla engineers were used but theres a spin, apparantly not as paid staff ....

The 50 Tesla engineers who worked for Elon Musk at Twitter weren't "Tesla assets" because they volunteered to work at the company after hours, the billionaire told a Delaware courtroom Wednesday, according to CNBC

When questioned whether it was a good idea to use Tesla resources at Twitter, Musk said he "didn't think of this as using Tesla assets."

"There's 120,000 people at the company. This is de minimis," he added, using a Latin term meaning something so minor it should be disregarded. He added that the engineers worked at Twitter "for a few days, and then it was over."
