Barclays called me in July to tell me they would close the account in August. They told me a string of lies: 1. They had sent me 2 letters. I have not received either; the last one I had from them was well over a year before on another matter. 2. A copy of the letters would be on their app; they were not. 3. The account was being closed because of Brexit and they didn't want to register in each EU country; I pointed out I was not in the EU. 4. They would contact me again in August to explain what to do; they did not. They sent an email on 12 Sept to say that my latest bank statement was available on the app. I could not log in. When I phoned them they said that they closed the account 0n 8 Sept. To download the claim form one needs to log into the app. What a useless bunch of idiots.

I never rely on approval email. The link in this thread gives 2 options when you sign in. "New application" and "check status" I just checked mine.....still pending and my due date is in couple of days. Been pending 7 working days already (CW) Im resigned to fact of having to go to CW doing in person report. Same thing happened last report. I'm losing faith in the damn thing. This has happened to me on the last 2 occasions. Ended up having to go in person on final day.

That's nonsense. There has been a mass of people posting on having their accounts closed and last month my bank informed me that mine will be closed this month.
