  1. l am travelling to Phnom Penh on 19 April so can one print out the boarding passes in the next couple of days or do you have to wait until 24 hours before departure. The reason l ask this question is that the flights were booked by a friend using his credit card as for some reason l could not use my Thai bank debit card. The problem l have is my friend is in Canada at the moment but has said he will e-mail me with all the boarding passes 24 hours before l depart. If there is a problem obtaining the boarding passes on-line can l just go to Air Asia check-in on 19 April with the confirmation of the flights and get the boarding passes or will there be a problem. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

  3. Yes, the nurse at Nakorn Ping said that other hospitals in the region outlaying A. Muang are accepting enrollments. She specifically mentioned San Sai, noting that many foreigners live near that hospital. But. we've not received reports of anyone enrolling in San Sai. I'll ask her when I return to Nakorn Ping on Tuesday to claim the new cards of the initial enrollees.

Please, everyone, handle this with grace and respect. It's a huge development for us older expats and we need to be cautious not to send a flood of rude, non-Thai speaking foreigners into small hospitals before the rules are set and documents are avaiable.

    Hi Nancy

I have enrolled at San Sai Hospital under the scheme as l was receiving treatment and medicines in the last year under the yellow book. I have diabetes and the treatment I received from them in the past 12 months was excellent and the Doctors and Nurses know me quite well. Until October this year all my treatment and medicines were free under my yellow book and l was quite happy to pay 2800 baht for the new 30 baht scheme and have had my examination/tests and have a id card for future use. I suspect that each hospital is keeping details of the cost of each foreign patient and may in the future charge each individual more depending on treatment and medicines required although still a lot cheaper than private hospitals.

In the past foreigners had not be able to participate in the UC (i.e. 30 baht) program simply because they are in a yellow book. But, local hospitals did enroll some people (like techno) in error. The problem would have been discovered if it was necessary to refer to a higher level hospital, like Suan Dok. I've seen some tragic cases where people with very serious conditions were denied treatment at Suan Dok when they'd been referred by the local hospital that had given them the UC card.

Now, by participating in the scheme and paying the 2800 baht fee, there will be no problem in obtaining care at Suan Dok if/when the local doctors refer a foreign patient.

Only 3 months ago the Doctors at San Sai gave me a letter to take to Suan Dok so l could have a cataract operation. The only cost was for a private room for 2 days and use of the medical equipment. The total cost was 5000 baht all done under my yellow book scheme. After the operation l also had 2 OPD appointments with the Surgeon which were also free.

  5. Sorry if this has been covered before but cannot find it in the forum. Now that EPL has started how can you find out from the CTH remote a button that shows the times of repeat broadcasting of EPL games that have already been played or about to be played

    Many thanks

  6. My friend went to Immigration yesterday at 9.15am (without an appointment) to get a 1 year extention of his visa and was seen by officers fairly quickly and was out in just over the hour, Maybe he was very lucky

  7. Extract from that article above:

"TrueVisions recently changed its slogan from "King of soccer" to "King of sport" after failing to secure the rights of EPL, Thailand's most watched football league, last November. "Sport is not only football - there are plenty of other kinds of sport [to watch]," said TrueVisions chief commercial officer Ong-ard Prapakamol."

Oh right then Khun Prapakamol. I'll just stop being a football fan and take up watching some Welshman play a Scot at snooker in some hitherto unheard of snooker hall in China, where only about 10 people can be bothered to turn up to watch it live, or some fat imbecilic over-muscled Yanks pretending they are all great soap actors and that wrestling is a real sport. I will really appreciate your HD coverage. Sign me up for another 10 years of True Visions pleaselaugh.png

Bunch of numpties. King of losers and bullshit more like.

True now showing Russian Premier League for all the Russians in Pattaya, Still better than watching Thai Premier League

  8. I had a similar problem before - Dell battery not charging. in a diagnostic session via telephone, the Dell helpdesk verified it was a charging circuit problem on the mother board; not a battery problem, nor a charger problem.

hope you checked this before searching for a new charger.

I have had a Dell Inspiron laptop for 2 years now and have had nothing but problems. In the first 2 months everything crashed and had to be be replaced by Dell. Now l am getting messages that the battery needs replacing which l do not understand as l have never used the battery power as l only connect to the electric at home. Does any TV member know what the problem is? Maybe the battery charger or another problem so any help would be appreciated. I have had Compaq and other laptops but Dell is the worst l have had. Thanks

  9. My Uk Building Society when l first joined refused to send debit cards to Thailand but now they do in a plain envelope using registered mail from the UK. The pin number is sent days later with a letter telling me to contact them to activate the card and also to change the pin numbers. I used to have problems with withdrawing money fro ATM'S in Thailand but now my Building Society seems to accept that l live in Thailand and no problems for a couple of years

  10. Thanks to all that have replied. I agree with a lot of comments it is a total utter shambles. What is also very concerning that once they receive the passport in Hong Kong then apparently its cancelled and you cannot travel on it no more, however you are not informed of this. So in the event of a emergency whilst waiting for said passport and requiring you to go back to the UK then you have to shell out another 5000 baht for a emergency passport which I understand you have to specify date of travel and even booking reference on, miss that and its not valid. So the UK government in its infinite wisdom expect a UK citizen that wants to renew his or hers passport to send confidential details to a non UK country or obtain a bankers draft in Hong Kong dollars all over Thailand in naken nowhere. I thought we were living in the 21st century have they never heard of a bank to bank transfer, or is it the case that this has too much of a paper trail! Also why is it the payment is made in Hong Kong when all they do is check the paperwork before sending to the UK where the passport is processed, printed and sent back. Totally different subject I know but our wonderful illustrious leadercheesy.gif I read was promising Indians a visa within 24 hours two days ago. If the powers that be can do that then surely they can come up with a better system for ex pats to renew their passports.

I renewed my UK passport last year and used both my thai BKK bank debit card and DHL. Money taken from my bank account within 3 days and the DHL tracking showed when the application was received in Hong Kong and the UK and when it was dispatched from the UK. I received a call from DHL in Chiang Mai to say they were going to deliver the new passport. Overall it took 3 weeks from the dispatch date with DHL. I found it a safe way of dealing with getting a new passport from the UK but understand it will be dealt with by the Passport Office in the UK in the non to distant future

  11. Does anyone know of a computer repairman who makes housecalls?

Nik at CM-Colo 0891929761 makes home calls. Speaks good English and is used by many TV forum members. Highly recommended as he is a quality computer engineer

  12. I leave my car at the LPG station across from immigration and have it washed while I am taking care of business. Two jobs accomplished at once!

I did my 90 report yesterday and parked at the LPG station opposite immigration.Cost was 40baht for 15 minute stay. People were still parking on the main road and there were a lot of highway police around as a Princess was in town. Not sure if they were clamped or not
