  1. For the last couple of years l have got my mince pies and Christmas puddings from Rob at Sausage King. They are both excellent and good value for money.l picked up my Christmas order yesterday together with the brandy cream. Whilst collecting my order l had one of his excellent english breakfasts for 99 baht. Give Rob a ring has he may still have some stock of mince pies and Christmas puddings

  2. l have just viewed a Toyota Camry 2.0G which is in great condition with 72,000Kms on the clock which l could buy for 750,000 baht. Have looked at various websites and they confirm that most similar cars of this year are in the same price range. This car is from BKK and is now available in CNX.Apparently not affected by floods in BKK and no evidence of any water damage Any TV members can point me in the right direction in respect of fuel economy, servicing costs or are there problems that l do not know about and is this is a good car to purchase. I am fed up driving a the wife's Vios around having sold my 2006 Civic earlier in the year. My thanks

  3. The people you need to speak to on this is the Royal British Legion, and they are represented here in Chiangmai. Their primary concern is for the welfare of ex service men's families. I'm sure they can help in the placement of these plaques one way or another.

I will contact Pedr at the Olde Bell where the Chiang Mai British Legion are based. Many thanks for your thoughts

  4. A friend of mine was in the British Army for 27 years but last year he passed away and l am storing about 15 plaques that he received whilst serving overseas. He has family in the UK but they are not interested in the plaques and because of the cost to ship them back to the UK. Do any TV members know what l can do with the army plaques as l do not want them and would prefer them to go to a good home free of charge and will be appreciated and taken care of.Many thanks

  5. No problems here and I have 6 Hotmail accounts.

As pointed out they are migrating to Outlook.com and that is causing some problems but will soon be resolved.

"Your Hotmail has been upgraded to Outlook.com

Don’t worry. Your email address, password, emails, contacts, and files remain the same—with a few added advantages:

    • Outlook is modern—you get a fresh, clean design that’s intuitive to use.

    • Outlook is connected—your conversations come to life with your friends’ photos, Tweets, and recent Facebook updates.

    • Outlook is productive—you get free Word, Excel, and PowerPoint web apps built in with 7 GB of free cloud storage.

    • Outlook is private—you’re in control of your data, and your personal conversations aren’t used for ads.

And, of course, Outlook gives you virtually unlimited storage and less spam—and works on your PC, Mac, phone, and tablet."

I like the idea of free Word,Excel and Powerpoint but how do you get it via Outlook. Is it easy to find. Thanks

  6. My friend is having problems with is Aussie aged pension and needs a email address so he can contact them urgently in Oz.

Are there any Aussie aged pensioners who can provide an e-mail address for Centrelink pensions section or indeed any other

information as for some reason they have stopped making payment to him. Many thanks

  7. I worked with Pierre Michol and his wife as a tourist police volunteer for a number of years. He was a great guy to know. His death must have been sudden as his wife was on a visit to her homeland in Singapore, Pierre's funeral is tomorrow (Thursday) at the church near Narrowat bridge at 1pm

  8. I find this a strange matter, my U.K. state retirement pension is paid into my U.O.B. A/C every 28 days no fee charged from the U.K., my other pension ( retired public servant pension) is also paid into my U.O.B. A/C every 28 days and has been paid for the last 11 + years no problems ,(I took my public service pension at age 55 as allowed.)

I would suggest the good lady or yourself techno contact the pension fund and explain the position . I am sure there are no U.K.restrictions regarding payment.

The only costs I incur are the 100 baht service fee from U.O.B., the U.K. bank transfers my pensions free of charge.

I have a pension from he former Barclays Life (now Reavent) and they do not send funds to a Thai bank account but my other pension fund holders do at no charge

  9. But if i understand correct you can not write and read Thai? So even if you are mabey bored of school keep going.Thats you best option I think.

It is not really the fact that I am bored of school, I just need income. I may even hop over to Cambodia as they give work visas on arrival at 25 dollars and do not shun farang anywhere near as much as they do here. Plus in the near future I see potential for a couple of quite bad situations that may come into being. One of them obvioiusly being the fact Bangkok is sinking and the deforestation north is ongoing, so the floods will keep coming each year. Once Bangkok is crippled so in Thailand. The other scenario I will not mention as I cannot speak about it due to laws etc. You know what I refer to most likely.

I do not believe you can get a work permit on arrival in Cambodia for 25 USD as this is for a tourist Visa only. Once you have a tourist visa you can apply for a work visa which l believe costs 200 USD and is renewable every year, Thats as much as l know

  10. A good friend of mine who worked for the UK Post Office died about 4 years ago and his widow gets a monthly pension of 200 GBP a month. The widow does not have a UK bank account and indeed never been to the UK. The Post Office informed her that they do not send pension funds to an overseas bank account especially Thailand so to help her out the pension is paid into my bank account in the UK and l draw the funds out of my bank via an ATM in Thailand each month. There are costs such as bank charges of about 5 GBP to draw these funds from my account. The question is what if l die and my accounts are closed how can she get her monthly pension without paying the 20 GBP bank transfer charges that she will incur each month if indeed the Post Office will arrange monthly swift payments to her Bangkok Bank in Thailand. Is it possible that she could open a bank account with Bangkok Bank in London to receive the pension monies into and then get an ATM here for the account to draw the monthly pension from.Any constructive thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you
