I'm very happy with my Air, as a fulltime Coder i dont really need the DVD, large space and the Firewire.

The battery does last forever, its not heavy, and runns the same apps as on my iMac at home.

make sure the wan port does NOT negotiate port speeds automaticall.

if the modem does some sort of reset the airport will renegotiate automatically, and this will lead to performance issues because the network is beeing reset a few times.

you could do the pppoe via the modem .. but only if you can do a dmz setting and forward everything to the airport ... so you wont have double-nat .. which is a tricky thing you not really want to have.

also you need to make sure the modem and the rest of your network do use different network's ... this is VERY important ..

not doing so also can lead to performance issues as the airport have to take care this then software sisded ..

Yeah, most of the multi screen features whee included in the first beta already .. i really love it if the menubar stays on the window you actually see on each screen.

but learn to NOT click n Menubar icons on the inactive scren, the text become Bolded ... so all icons move a few millimeter .. .thats really annoying and the chance you click the wrong one is really large

steve is not arround anymore, so things going alot more "m$ alike" ..

using Mavericks since a few months already, even the GM seed was not really usable, and there are already 2 follow up updates ..

you refering to a imac .. so i just assume you also Run OSX on it.

do you use iPhoto ?

if yes you can just automimport everything downloaded from the phone.

but for the sake of speed id suggest you use the Image Importer

- create a folder on your desktop "import iphone"

- connect the phone

- if ANYTHING autostarts ... quit it and make sure its quit

- start Applications -> Image Capture

- select the new created folder in Location

- check Delete after import

- click Import all

wait a few sec, and all is gone.

but that works for items in the photo Roll ONLY !

if you have manaully sortet photos on the phone they wont be importet.

nothing to worry .. since you have already imported and deleted the photoroll following the steps above.

now just move the "sorted" items back to the photo roll (you have to do that on the phone)

and do the same thing again .. by simply reconnecting the phone back to the computer.

if you do use iPhoto .. just import them in iphoto ..

and then on the next itunes sync (after you have importet everything) select the albums on iphoto you want to sync back to the phone ..

so you have the important items on the phone .. and not loose anything.

i do it the same way .. i have a smart folder in iPhoto .. holding everything from the last 18 Months ..

and this folder will be synced ... so my iphone is "kept clean"

some older pics i still want to have .. so i just check the individual iphoto album to be synced as well.

rest is done automatically. (moreless)

new tabs always open next to the corresponding one (Google chrome does it exactly the same way)

if you have ALOT of tabs this can be very helpful as the corresponding ones always next to each other.

a workaround would be to use windows instead Command-option-click

and then open the coresponding ones with command-click, then you have all corresponding ones in a single window

and can cloce the whole window with Command-W

i have the same here ... use 2 connections ... 1 mikrotik router in between .. so there is some sort of failover as well (fully automatic)

on this little beasts you can assign IP-ranges "per-port"

so you will have seperate networks anyway but all the traffic goes trough this one and can be managed somehow. if the internet connections or the phonelines come together at some place i would strongly suggest you to do this.

it will cost you only the router .. and everything is good to go.

usally hardware capable doing things like this costing a fortune ... but thanks to the guys from routerboard.com this is affordable now.

in the end ALL devices (including the adsl routers and the apple airport) will be 100% passive and all the traffic is managed via the router itself .. by preserving maximum security and great performance.

let me know if you need some help in programming them .. (can be abit tricky if you not in that business)
