hey there ... i just experienced quite a large power outage.

basically everything went dark here (lat krabang)

i can see the Airports tower from here, which has gone dark as well ... for almost 1 hour.

just now the first plane did take off .. (there where also no landing)

dont they have emergency power at all ?

i wasn't there but there where sure zero landings and takeoffs for the last hour, the Control Tower pitch black (also no red flashing-light to outline the corners)

and usally i see the Runway light Reflecting on the sky ... which wasnt ..

while writing this there where 4 planes took off now (looks like they in a hurry)

can anyone confirm that ?

you are right about the heat issue, its suplied with a Hose for the hot air to get out (somehow) .. so this has been taken care of.

i guess the most peoples just put it in the home and turn it o .. and than it would generate (of course) more hot as cool air.

i was hoping someone had it run != thai style and could give some experience value.

well considering i have to punch a hole in the wall to get rid of the hot air, makes it just as complex to run as a split system i guess. as there have to be made holes as well.

well i dont "own" the house .. so this was something i had in mind.

the noise its generates was not that bad actually.

some peoples do say they dont really work, but the risc is quite high that this assumption was made because the hot air was not bring out of the room properly

well if you do have apple Wireless hardware

If your computer is connected via cable then yes you still can use the network.

If its a Airport device you can turn it off with the software comes with the OS "Airport utility" if not its depend on what router you use.

i have OS X 10.6.8, i cannot find the installation disk but have the installation disk for MPB i bought at the same time, i'm pretty sure the same OS, that'll work, yes?

you (maybe) wont be able to install the OEM Version but its just fine for the check.

put it in .. and hold [c] while when you hear the boot sound ... the mac will then startup straight from the disc.

or [option] then you get the boot manager . .and the disc will show as a option there.

if you need to install with this disc its doable too .. its quite simple to change the BIOS Identification of the Mac you running on

this will bring you the boot manager, if you have something newer then 10.7.1 installed you will have the option to boot a rescure system from the harddisc.

if you have a earlier version running you need to poke in the install DVD or the USB Drive to start the rescure system.

once this is running the installer will pop up .. select Disc untility .. repair the dsic and after this repair permissions ...

then reboot .. 80% of all cases this will do the job.

if there are errors do come up then you may be in bigger trouble.

do NOT just reinstall .. this is't windows ... unless your disc is dead .. there is no need to do that .. ever

well my wife speaks perfectly german (no, not because of me being german!) this has a great benefit for her work at the Airport.

since its a frequently used language here, and not many thai's can speak it, puts her in a special field/position on the job and better salery as well.

but that just happend a few years ago, and was not exacly planned to turn out like this.

The question that begs to be asked is, "Why would anyone want to learn to speak German anyway?"

that is an easy one.

in order to go there (as thai) .. and suck on the goverments money titts/or the husband wallet, you have to speak "some" german to get the visa.

thats why german language schools are trendy atm

so learning german pays off, after you in the country with a permission to stay .. either the husband or the goverment will pay the bills

because NONE of this type of school do have and will _ever_ get an accreditation from the german culture-ministry.

and even if this is going to change .. i doubt a school with wanted managing team will be short-listet.

does not mean the school is bad, if its remains open, the team has now a real chance to deliver quality proof (i guess).
