14 is too young to die but for the parents to take no responsibility at all is typical. It’s always someone else’s fault

A Friend of mine just recently started teaching English in Thailand. He was teaching 14-17 year olds. They just had exams and out of 40 questions the average was 4 questions right. The teachers were called back and told they had to change the grades to 51%, after changing the grades it turns out a school down the road had given their students higher grades than my friends school so they called the teachers back again and told them to change the grades to 75%. They were originally told no student is allowed to fail and then told that they had to beat the other school. If Thai government want to keep kidding themselves, they will be 88th before they know it.

Once a year a we pony up with a couple other people and get a large stretch of the jungle cut back as it swallows up the road (local council job, but they never do it), well after the jungle is cut back all you can see is the plastic bags of garbage that have been thrown in the jungle, it really is a national disgrace and unfortunately it will take being highlighted by foreigners to get anything done about it, until not littering becomes a way of life. I have travelled to a lot of Asian countries and it is pretty common to see where substandard governments are in control

Execute the defendant and put 1 Satang in his mouth.
Next case.
I agree with your statement but don’t waste the money

Surely by the end of Trumps second term there should be something nailed down, right?
Yes I think it’s coming

The people I know buying Bitcoin are trying to hide money from the government. I don’t think most people are reporting any profit and paying taxes from Bitcoin transactions.
I think governments have been ripping people off for years. Is it any wonder people want to hide it from them

Well Thais treat the breakdown lane as a regular lane. I’m surprised it doesn’t happen several times a day. Condolences to the victim. Truely tragic, wake up Thailand

I think it’s quite simple really, they don’t care. If people cared the garbage problem would be all over the news like the Trump administration is in the US. Top level government officials don’t care because there’s no garbage left lying around inside their privileged gated communities and when they get driven around in their fancy cars with blacked out windows they don’t look out and see the stuff lying on almost every corner. If Thailand’s image is so reviered by current and past governments then why havn’t they done something about it?

"officers from the Hua Hin traffic police and officers from tourist police, who helped to educate the children."
Only education I see from police is the weekly road block for tea money. I'm not sure who owns Mariott but I doubt it would be Thai (correct me if I'm wrong), but the education should come from the top. I see most police riding in Hua Hin without a helmet and often on the wrong side of the road or through red lights. Not really the people you want educating the youth.
I support the idea but Thailand needs to get serious about it and many other problems in the LOS.

Why not be fair and just by allowing foreigners to own one plot of land on which they would like to live their retirement ?
While not related to the story but related to your comment, a friend of mine was looking at purchasing land in Turkey recently and was told that they only allow foreigners to own land if they themselves are allowed to own land in the foreigners country. I think this is a good idea

As has already been said by others, this is the standard level of competency for Thai drivers not just truck drivers. Any competent government would be ashamed of the standard and how they are perceived by the rest of the world and act to improve it.

I think it’s fair to say they had planned for this long ago and likely had a backup passport well in advance of her scarpering

While the penalties are shockingly low when you compare to other countries, they need to be having this discussion and hopefully a good system will evolve to something with adequate penalties. The opposite end of the spectrum where you have rule for combining vehicles and bicycles is getting ridiculous. nothing is perfect but it takes time

Perhaps the government should hire her to pick up rubbish. If she inspires people to have coffee then perhaps she would inspire others to clean up after themselves. Just a thought

He is laying the foundations to increase the cost of household water. Might stop people from watering the street? They would be stuffed if they were in an area like South Africa and not the tropics.

I like the headline “Road carnage goes through the roof” in most countries a large increase like that would be described as going to the moon, which last time I check is a bit further than the roof. As has been said by many, no education no enforcement and Thais in general (not all) have no respect for other Road users.

Quite simple really. Over reliance on technology and failed to look out the window.

Well no you can't blame the girls. But who are the people providing the girls.
12 year old girls don't just mosy on up to pattaya nightlife by themselves. Thai adults are seducing them into the trade with promises of a golden life.
I recall a few stories on tv where Thai parents either sold their children into prostitution or similar situations. In any case, it shouldn’t matter who does it they should all be strung up
Too slow, poor service, not enough staff and corrupt - Dusit Poll gives Thai immigration the thumbs down!

I live on the border of HuaHin and Cha-Am but I have to travel all the way to Thai yang to use immigration (30-40 minute drive one way) when I should be able to go into huahin city and use the service there which is only 15 minutes, crazy inefficient
