  1.

    Moving to correct forum

    MOVED

Thank You ! Where can I find that please ?

It has already been moved by a MOD, so just wait for answers

Did you obtain a Foreign Exchange Transaction form from either your bank or the agent ?

If you don't know there should be a copy of it with your Chanote for the condo (the original will be retained by the Land Office).  If you did then there should be no problem in transferring the money back to your home country

If you didn't you may have a problem

  2. Pattaya 2 U, located on the corner near the Tukcom Parking lot.  300 THB, plus parts, guaranteed repairs

    086-778-8589, 089-109-9801, 081-159-4404

Are they still 300baht? Last time I asked at their "reduced" presence in Tucom (I presume it is part of the one you mention as has same staff, logo etc) I was told price now 500 baht minimum?

Call and ask since I can't be positive that they still charge only 300 THB, which was not a minimum but their maximum labor charge per incident
  3. .I have  the OTP sent to my wifes phone , so if I am out of the country she can text it to me

In case the OP doesn't have a wife:

For a one time payment of 20THB,  DTAC will allow you International roaming and thus you can received SMS messages wherever you are for free.  I am sure that AIS has a similar program

And since you know that you are going to be out of Thailand, once again for 20THB, DTAC will extend the validity of your prepaid sim for a year, hopefully AIS does the same

If you are using True then all bets are off

  4. This guy was released because he is part of the hi-so class by virtue of  his a medical degree and had good lawyers nothing else.  No thought of the victim because she was a woman and in Thai society she was his chattel and he could do with her what he wanted

The method he used to dispose of her body (cutting it up in pieces to be flushed down the toilet) sort of negates the crime of passion argument

Hopefully her family can file a civil lawsuit and garnish his salary for the rest of his life but knowing Thai law they probably can't because that would be defamation !!!!!

  5. Yes, there are advantages to having a Bangkok Bank account since you can EFTS funds domestically from another US Bank and it will show up in your Thai Bangkok Bank account in Thailand. The fees for this are much cheaper than most International SWIFT (wire) transfers

    See:

  6. "Some Amphurs will accept them as proof of address for Thai medical insurance, some won't "

Can you explain about the Thai medical insurance you mentioned?

    Thanks

Do a search and you will find that some individuals have been erroneously enrolled in the 30 Baht health scheme by some Amphurs

Slightly off topic but does anyone know if it is possible to have the address changed in one of these! I am in Chiang Mai now.

No, Yellow Book is by the residence, not the person, so if you have moved then you must apply for it at the new residence

  7. What are the benefits of having a yellow tabien baan?

As varied as is the process of getting one

Some DLT's will recognize them as proof of address for a 5 year license and to purchase a motor vehicle, some won't (there are posts here that state the Pataya will no longer accept them)

Some Amphurs will accept them as proof of address for Thai medical insurance, some won't

Most Immigration offices will accept it a proof of address for extension of stay, some won't

There is a thread here that attempts to lists the benefits but like most soon devolves into off topic thread, try a search

  8. A foreigner can only buy a condo in Thailand if he can produce a certificate from a Thai bank to prove he has shipped in the money from overseas.

If you bring the money in as cash, you can't buy a condo with it.

Wrong, you can buy anything you want in Thailand without a certificate, you just can't take the money back out without one

Thai buy high price items all the times with cash, including condos and other property,  this is a cash society, and money is number one

  9. If you want to take it back out then you had better transfer it to a Thai bank so that you can get a Foreign Exchange Certificate.  If you don't care about ever repatriating the money then you can transfer it directly to the condo owner for payment

I think you are being foolish if you are going to be paranoid about trusting a Thai bank because of these supposed "bank scams" that you read about, especially if you are going to be living here

  10. Is there someone who knows the phone number from The Bakery,in Bang Saray, on the left side the soi between the 2 optical shops,attachicon.gifP1120372.JPG a Belgium man making very good bread, i live in Pattaya and wont to go buy some, but want to phone first.

You are right to want to phone ahead of time since they frequently run out of the days baking but don't know how you will do it since the girls who work there won't give you a phone number. All you will get is the No Hab refrain

BUT, if you are lucky enough to visit when the owner is there, hopefully he will be more accommodating

  11. There used to be a popular self help book for those entering the job market that was titled What Color is Your Parachute which basically forced you to define what skills and abilities you brought to the employer

Ask yourself that question right now and other than having a sheepskin and bar papers exactly what do you think you can bring to the table with 3 years of experience.  Afraid not much so you had better accept that you are going to have to change careers or stay in America get some real experience that is marketable in a foreign country

  12. If you go to the various Thai Consulates websites that are located in the US you will see that they all issue passports to Thai Citizens, so you don't have to go only to Washington D.C.in order to renew a Thai Passport

Here is where you will find a list of them with web site addresses:

    http://www.thaiembassy.org/main/

There have been reports of Thais returning to Thailand with an expired passport without problems but I would be concerned about a foreign airline letting you board without a valid passport,  so I would check with the airline first to be safe

  13. I would be more than willing to not whine about these new restrictions if this regime would crack down on these Immigration Officials who like to make their own rules and selectively enforce the parts of the Immigration laws that they deem to be important.

We have to have a web site like TV  just because there is such a wide difference between offices and what they want

It is also true of overseas embassies and consulates, everybody wants to make their own rules.  Why should our British cousins have a retirement age that is different than us Americans ?  Why should Los Angeles and Chicago be allowed to require the notarization of documents submitted for an O-A long stay visa when New York Consulate and Washington Embassy don't have that requirement

Seems to me that that Thais should get their own act together before they come down on foreigners when it comes to following the rules

  14. LM, that's news about TMB....

I have been regularly using them to pull 30K for the 150b fee... And the last 30K withdrawal I did with TMB was the beginning of July, no problem.  But, I haven't tried them again since then.

As for the OP's question, AFAIK, there are no Thai bank ATMs right now that will dispense more than 30K per withdrawal -- even if your home bank's card will allow withdrawals of $1000 or more.

Hope you are right TallGuy, read about the reduction in TMB here at Thai visa.

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/742316-tmb-atms-now-only-give-you-25k-max/

Can any other members verify whether or not TMB has reduced their pull amount
