Why do you not direct your whinging to the root cause, those that do not pay for treatment.

Simple answer, does not fit with the Thai bashing agenda.

A minimal problem for which all are being blamed.  Next you will claim that the mandatory O-A insurance is because long stay visitors don't pay their bills

If they don't, they don't get their passports back

  2. Interesting that Manafort was released and he is staring at substantial time in the poky.

Yet Michael Cohen, Trump's fixer, was supposed to be released to home detention for the same reason and he only has several months left on his sentence but for some "unknown " reason after Cohen's release was announced it was suddenly revoked

Guess it helps if you have friends in high places

    No, you're wrong.

"Criminal charges are filed by a prosecutor because they believe that they can prove their case, but the judge or jury may not agree with them. ... Only the prosecutor or the arresting officer is able to drop charges."

The article you quote is first of all is an advertisement for a law firm, and secondly does not address a situation where the prosecution is finished, it's part is over. The case is now in the hands of the Judge because of the guilty plea

The sentence was only delayed by the court to assist the defendant (Flynn) to allow him more time to continue to assist the government.  It wasn't even requested by the defense but was offered by the judge as a warning since he stated that he felt that there should have been additional charges and Flynn had better provide more evidence of his cooperation to the court before sentencing

  4. I have a Capital One credit card obtained in the US prior to coming to Thailand and I put a travel alert on it over 5 years ago,  and have never removed it

I leave it here when I leave for the summer and my girlfriend uses it for gas and certain groceries and so far they have never said a word, so long as I pay my bill every month via my online US bank, since it is swiped no one has ever checked the back for signature,  which I have left blank

  5. Any optician can make a new lens for you.  They all have blanks for popular sized and branded lenses.  You probably won't get a RayBan lens but will save a lot of money.  Ray Ban is selling a brand, not necessarily any greater quality than any other manufacturer , especially when it comes to lenses

Now if you are talking progressive lenses or "photochromic" (transition) lenses it could be more, but never as expensive as Ray Ban

I was under the impression that a prenup wasn't worth the paper it's written on in Thailand

Your impression is wrong, it's just a contract signed by both prior to the marriage and is recognized by Thai law and don't ask me to cite it.  Just like murder, I can't site the law,  but am pretty sure there is a law prohibiting it

  7.  Anecdotal experience but I sold a house in Pennsylvania last year and wanted to use my Thai lawyer who is a notary and I was told in no uncertain terms that the only acceptable notary overseas was the US Embassy

The only wrinkle was that the deed transfer was in my name using only my middle initial, which is common in the US, but the Embassy would only accept my full name, middle name spelled out, like on my passport.  solution was to place my full name on the document with the annotation AKA (also know as) as well as the name on the deed transfer

of course the insurance they required me to buy doesn't meet the current requirement, but I am willing to bet the requirements will at least be doable by November,

Your a far better man than I am. My bet is that the insurance requirement moves to all  non immigrant visas and extensions of stay

I have been in Thailand for way too long to think or hope the government will change anything.  Once they make up their mind about something there is no changing it. Change means someone was wrong, and no one is ever wrong in Thailand, it's all about face

Why not just fly Cathay non stop to Boston from HKG and then just have a one hour flight to Philly instead of six hours from Seattle?

Probably because that routing probably wasn't available using FF miles.  They don't offer the best routing when "they" are paying for the fare using your miles

  10. I doubt if you will be able to find a LPG generator here in Thailand.

These day long outages are only recent due to the planned expansion of the electrical grid along Sukumvit from the new intersection of the highway at the marina all the way into Sattahip proper,  but that being said,  another major project is in the works since they recently erected long range transmission wires running parallel to Sukumvit about 1/4 mile East of the highway.  As you can see,  they haven't installed the wires yet

  11. I can answer the question about the electricity and the frequent outages are because electricity is provided by the Navy Welfare Fund who run the electric grid in Sattahip, parts of Na Jomtien, and of course Bang Sarey

Don't know if they generate electricity or just purchase it wholesale and then re sell it retail.

Day long outages are frequent when other electric utilities are working on their lines but plenty of notice is given before the cut off.  But electrical outages are a way of life here in Thailand so you could have the electric problem no matter where you buy

Where on Earth did you get the information that " it is prohibited to actually start one from out of country"?

Probably from the same person that told him he needed a Social Security Consultant

I set up mine directly from the site the OP went to set up his "fake" account for which he did not need a VPN, just the correct US business hours to log on
