  1. Closed 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 April, open again on the 17th.

    Covered here.

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/630731-dates-immigration-offices-shut-down-over-songkran/

I went today for my 90-day reporting, packed already.

    Thanks PS.

5 day holiday, Must be nice.

I need to go for a 30 days extension on my tourist visa. Its due on the 16th, so I guess I will have to go on the 11th and lose 5 days. If I go on the 17th I will have to pay 1 day overstay, even with their holiday shutdown?

  2. Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can find any information regards closing/opening holiday dates for Samui Immigration over the Songkran holiday period?

I am due to get my extension stamp on Tuesday 16th April, which I believe is a public holiday in Thailand. So assuming they are closed on (Monday &) Tuesday, would I need to go on Friday 12th?

    Thanks

  3. Hi,

To be honest we havent done one of these runs in quite some time now. But we choose the Sadao border due to being able to stay overnight in Hat Yai, as well as being able to take advantage of the duty free shop at Sadao. I have done the Ranong/Andaman Club in the past also, but I dont particularly like the drive over the hills on the narrow roads.

Car - if we have friends with us, we will drive through the border. If it is people that we do not know personally, the car will stay this side of the border and we take the short walk through.

  4. I heard something similar from a Soi Reggae bar owner about 3 months ago. He said that the whole Soi Green Mango area including the Green Mango club and Sound club will be moving to Soi Reggae, in the empty land after the Reggae Pub. All that is up that way is the Bungy Jump, Aussieland bar, and Camp Beer, so its definitely possible, although highly unlikely.

The reason he gave was the authorities wanting to remove all of the noise pollution and drunken behaviours away from all the beach, restaurants, and 5* resorts.

  5. There's a Thaishop in the bandon road-ghost road junction that have them, real heavy ones.

    Thanks,

Do you mean near Bandon hospital, in the ghost road?

    Thanks all!

At the cross roads down from the 99, where the new Tesco Lotus is.

If driving from the Bandon Hospital, turn left at the Lotus/7-11 and its about 15 metres on the right hand side.

Alternatively, the travelling Thai market that often stops at the Lake in Chaweng normally has some.

  6. Luke, to be honest, if you are in any of Bangrak, Chaweng, Bophut, Mae Nam, Choeng Mon, Plai Laem, you are only ever 5-10 minutes away from the others in that list. They are all situated within a few KM of each other, and are all much of a muchness.

Personally I live towards the Bangrak side of Chaweng, along the Ghost Road, and can get to any of those places in under 10 minutes on my bike.

The only place that you would consider that is further away is Lamai, which would take about 20 minutes from my house.

  7. Best burger places

    Catcandoo

    The shack

Heard some good reports re bondi , but never tried

Piri piri opposite islander ( actually owned by the same owner as bondi )

Now , for anyone setting up a biz , I believe they are looking for franchise's possibly in Thailand , as by far , this place does the best burgers in the world - http://www.gbk.co.uk/menu/burgers/

GBK is the sort of place I am looking for.

What is Piri Piri? Is it a sort of Nando's chicken place?
