The place mentioned above, just through the lights at Bophut, are VERY VERY VERY expensive. Basically, they dont want a farang with cash to go in there and buy a bike. They charge stupid prices and want Thai's, with little or no money, who have no other choice, to go in there and buy a bike on finance at exorbitant prices. Be warned!

Does anyone know where the travelling Thai Market is at the moment? The one that travels around for about a week at a time in each spot, often at the temples?
I know last week it was on the land opposite the Family Mart on the corner, half way between the traffic lights of the main road and the Tourism College, but Ive been told its moved on again.
I saw one today - setting up on the ring road between Big C and Bophut. On the same side as the fresh market near TOT. I don't know if it is the one that you are looking for.
Thats the one, thanks Trop. Its just next to the permanent market, opposite Soi Sunday. Never seen it there before.
I popped up there earlier on today, about 5pm, but it wasnt open yet. Not sure if they are still setting up and its not open until tomorrow, or I was just too early today.

I've always found Budget to be good for short term rentals. But I suppose it all depends on what type of car you need though. I am normally renting a pickup with carryboy back and no-one comes close to Budget for just 1 or 2 days, for both availability and price.
15k per month for a Vios is a good price from such a reputable company. -
Khanom is very nice with good beaches and lots of waterfalls.
We stayed there a couple of times.
much life there, ie much to do in the evening, like bars, restaurants?

He came to my house a couple of days ago. Showed me his ID and said he was from the Royal Thai Army Police or something similar. Starting talking about the bombs in Hat Yai and needing to pay 4000 THB for replacement limbs for bomb victims, or 2000 THB for oxygen tanks. I soon sent him on is way.

All the food is great value at Cassidy's. So many places want to charge silly money for a breakfast or a Sunday roast - its great to see Cassidy's keep the prices where they should be. Others should take note!

Premier Bar is a good bet. The boss there is a big Man City fan.

Does anyone have any interest in a border run on Thursday 16th? Either a 1 day trip or an overnight stay in Hat Yai? I need to go myself so am looking for sharers.

Just about all the houses there are for sale/rent.
Any idea what sort of prices they go for? (rental and sales?)

NO power here on Ghost Road since about 815am. I was originally told by a neighbour it was due back on at 2pm, and now 5pm.

Im pretty sure I just saw Barak Obama out having dinner tonight with HRM The Queen, in Prego on the beach road. He had the tortellini and she had a calzone..........but the wine was very strong and very very free flowing tonight, so I could be mistaken.

PS - do you often frequent those bars on that strip of road?

It was busy down there this morning. But I handed my passport and form in at 845am and had it back at 1030am. Happy with that.
Thanks for all the help/advice guys, much appreciated.

We use those blue water machines at the side of the road (reverse osmosis?). 1 baht gets you about 1.5 litres. We re-use old coke/sprite/fanta bottles, so they go in the fridge easily. We used to use the big white bottles from the local shop for 15 baht, but the water from these machines tastes better IMO.

1 more question - what time do they actually open in the mornings?
-
Believe you mean your permitted to stay ends on the 16th so your 30 day extension will start after that - you lose nothing by doing early.
Thank you lop, much appreciated.

You don't lose days by going early, the extension starts from the end of your current permission to stay - not from the date you apply.
Thanks PS.Closed 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 April, open again on the 17th.
Covered here.

I went today for my 90-day reporting, packed already.
5 day holiday, Must be nice.
I need to go for a 30 days extension on my tourist visa. Its due on the 16th, so I guess I will have to go on the 11th and lose 5 days. If I go on the 17th I will have to pay 1 day overstay, even with their holiday shutdown?
Sophon
Oh right, how have I never known this before? Thanks Sophon.
