In the end it again proved a step too far for Wales' new-look young side. But Wales bucked the trend at Twickenham, where they led at half-time in this tournament for the first time since 1980. After beating Premier League leaders Liverpool and creating plenty of debate over their celebrations, it was important Arsenal backed it up with another win on Sunday against West Ham. They did just that in emphatic fashion. The ruthless Gunners put six goals without reply past a stunned Hammers that led to many of the home fans departing at half-time, and will no doubt have made their title rivals sit up and take notice. "This was a massive result," former Arsenal forward Paul Merson said on Sky Sports. "If this was Manchester City we would be waxing lyrical. "Arsenal don't get the credit they deserve. If you want to win the Premier League you have to bounce back quickly and they have done that. "They are right in this title race now." Legendary former Manchester United skipper Roy Keane is convinced a top-four finish is in sight, while manager Erik ten Hag has growing belief. Middleweight Hamzah Sheeraz defeated Liam Williams in one round in an unstoppable performance in London. The Briton extended his unbeaten record to 19 fights, dropping Williams twice thanks to his blistering speed. Sheeraz, 24, delivered on a promise to make a statement by stopping Williams, a former world title challenger. "I had a lot of doubters going into this fight [who] thought I wasn't able to keep up with this calibre of fighter," Sheeraz said. "I do my talking in the ring. When I get in here, I entertain." Williams had cut a confident figure all through fight week, suggesting Sheeraz's team had made a serious mistake in accepting the bout, but that bravado was quickly wiped out. Sheeraz's stiff jab and power shots were too much for the Welshman, who went down just after the first minute and crashed to the floor again moments later from a brilliant counter uppercut. We didn't know it at the time but it turns out Scotland's nerve-shredding endgame at the Principality last weekend was a mere warm-up routine for the jaw-dropping uncertainty of the final minutes at Murrayfield.
