  10. Whilst acronyms/abbreviations can be used, they are not widely known by everyone. It is better where possible to use the correct terminology especially when referring to visa categories. Any acronym used should atlest explain (in brackets) the first time it's used so that it is clear to others what it is referring to.

The world number one missed a simple putt on the 18th hole at Memorial Park to end his second round on a double bogey and card a level-par 70. The American, who is four behind leader Tony Finau, was asked by reporters if his miss was down to a "mental lapse". "No, I do that all the time," said Scheffler. "You watch me a lot, that happens a lot to me. You never really know what's going to be up there around the cup on 18. I felt like I hit a good putt on the first one, but the second one I guess just hit a little fast and didn't see a spike mark there." Full Story

Women's Six Nations: England v Wales England: (24) 46 Tries: Muir, Aldcroft, Botterman, Atkin-Davies, Kildunne 2, Dow, Galligan Cons: Aitchison 3 Wales: (3) 10 Try: Bevan Pen: George Con: George England scored eight tries to hammer Wales at Ashton Gate in front of a record crowd of 19,705 for a home Red Roses game outside of Twickenham. John Mitchell's side scored four first-half tries in a dominant opening period through Maud Muir, Zoe Aldcroft, Hannah Botterman and Lark Atkin-Davies. After the break Ellie Kildunne and Abby Dow scored tries for England before Keira Bevan finally got over for Wales. Lock Rosie Galligan responded and Kildunne grabbed a brilliant second. The previous record attendance was a crowd of 15,836 at Welford Road to watch England defeat Ireland 69-0 during the 2022 Six Nations. Victory means the Red Roses, who return to the top of the table after France's win over Scotland earlier on Saturday, remain on track to secure a third successive Grand Slam and a sixth successive Six Nations title. England play Scotland next on 13 April, while Wales travel to Ireland looking to claim their first win. Rugby Union Daily: England wreck Wales at Ashton Gate 'It never felt like we weren't in control' - England hammer Wales - reaction England start fast in front of record crowd The decision to play the game in Bristol ensured both sets of supporters - either side of the border - were able to easily pack into Ashton Gate. With the atmosphere rocking on a record-breaking day, England wasted no time in entertaining when Abby Dow took off down the right wing before prop Muir powered over close to the tryline. Head coach John Mitchell has been clear from the start of the tournament that he will rotate his squad heavily as he gets to know his player group before the home World Cup in 2025. Full Story

  15. Eddie Howe said Harvey Barnes was "incredible" after the winger came off the bench to score twice as Newcastle edged a dramatic seven-goal thriller against West Ham at St James' Park. Barnes, returning from a two-game absence due to a thigh injury, was introduced as a substitute in the 67th minute with Newcastle trailing 3-1. The England international went on to boost Newcastle's hopes of securing another campaign in Europe with a late double. "He is an incredible player," Howe told BBC Match of the Day. "We have missed him this season and he would have given us quality wherever he played. He is a goalscorer and they are so valuable, and his two finishes today were of the highest quality. Of course, the last one was memorable and will always be remembered - and what a finish it was. That's the quality he has." Newcastle made the perfect start when Anthony Gordon won a penalty with just three minutes played and Isak converted from 12 yards. But the game started to get away from the Magpies when West Ham scored three unanswered goals. Michail Antonio brought the Hammers on to level terms before Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen scored within minutes either side of half-time. Isak scored his second penalty of the afternoon after Gordon was again adjudged to have been fouled and Barnes grabbed the equaliser in the 83rd minute. With momentum and a vociferous St James' Park firmly behind them, Newcastle pressed on and Barnes emphatically fired in a 90th-minute winner. There was further drama to come in injury time as Newcastle were reduced to 10 men when Gordon received a second yellow card for kicking the ball away, but they managed to hold out for a victory that could prove vital in their pursuit of European football. Newcastle climb up to eighth, just a point behind West Ham in seventh. Full match report
  16. Ezri Konsa completed the "perfect week" by scoring in the win over Wolves that helped Aston Villa maintain a three-point lead over Tottenham in the race for Champions League football. After Spurs beat Luton earlier on Saturday to briefly go above Villa, Unai Emery's side rose to the pressure and found a way to win despite being far from their best. Moussa Diaby's thunderbolt shot from the edge of the area, after a cross was half-cleared by Tommy Doyle, fizzed through a couple of Wolves defenders and goalkeeper Jose Sa to open the scoring. Defender Konsa sealed the points at Villa Park when his slightly miscued cross from close to the right byeline drifted over Sa and in off the far post. The 26-year-old made his England debut as a substitute seven days previously and then had his first senior international start on Tuesday, hoping to secure a place in Gareth Southgate's squad for Euro 2024 in Germany. "It's been a perfect week," said Konsa. "Making my debut for England and then to top it off with a win and a goal, I'm really pleased for myself and the boys. "It's hard to put into words. It was a dream come true to make my England debut and it's something I've been working hard on. I want to continue working and learning so that's what I'm going to do." As for whether he meant his goal, Konsa said: "Yeah, I meant it! Nah, I saw Jhon [Duran] coming in at the back post so I was hoping to give him an assist. I'm really pleased." There was concern for Villa, though, with England striker Ollie Watkins withdrawn at half-time because of a hamstring injury and manager Emery said he would go for a scan on Sunday. Tottenham have a game in hand on Villa and could yet take control of the race for fourth, but fifth spot may secure top-tier European football next season with the revamped tournament being introduced. 17. Kristoffer Ajer scored in the ninth minute of injury time as Brentford snatched a dramatic draw against Manchester United in a thrilling finish at the Gtech Community Stadium. The equaliser came three minutes after Mason Mount thought he had netted the winner for the visitors with his first United goal. But they could not hold on for victory and a draw damages the Red Devils' hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League. Ivan Toney, who scored his first England goal in the 2-2 draw with Belgium on Tuesday, was involved in the build-up to the equaliser, with his pull-back converted by Ajer as the Bees secured a deserved point after hitting the woodwork four times. Toney shot against the inside of the post when sent through on goal before Mathias Jorgensen's free header clipped the top of the crossbar before the break. Brentford continued to dominate and Yoane Wissa became the third Bees player to hit the goal frame, with his powerful volley from inside the penalty area bouncing off the upright just before the hour mark. Bryan Mbeumo also produced a fierce second-half attempt that rebounded off the crossbar as Brentford pushed for a much-needed victory in their fight to stay in the top flight. Toney thought he had broken the deadlock, volleying into the net from Mbeumo's cross in the 72nd minute, only for the effort to be disallowed for offside. Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken had earlier made an excellent one-handed save to deny Rasmus Hojlund but was beaten by substitute Mount before Ajer's late heroics. full match report

  19. Conor Chaplin's early goal sent Ipswich Town top of the Championship as they squeezed past Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. Chaplin's mis-timed strike in the ninth minute should have been saved but it beat Rovers keeper Aynsley Pears at his near post and proved enough to take the Tractor Boys one point clear of Leeds United, who drew with Watford later on Friday. Blackburn thought they had equalised through Joe Rankin-Costello but the goal was ruled out for Sammie Szmodics interfering with keeper Vaclav Hladky's line of vision when stood in an offside position. Rovers were then much the better side after the break and had a second goal chalked off from Andrew Moran for a foul on the keeper before Hladky saved with Szmodics about to tap into an empty net. Victory was an eighth in nine games for Ipswich but they were forced to hang in to earn three more points in Lancashire. Relive Ipswich's victory at Blackburn By stark contrast Rovers have now not won in eight league games and are just three points above the relegation zone. The home side would have cursed their ill fortune that began with Pears' early error as Chaplin slipped away up the right wing, cut infield and played a ball to Leif Davis, whose cross back to Chaplin was hit first time with his left boot and crept past Pears. 23. The fixture calendar for the rest of the Premier League season is pretty much set so now it's up to you to decide on your strategy depending on what chips you have left in the game. We know there are seven teams with a double gameweek 34 - Arsenal, Liverpool, Wolves, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Everton and Sheffield United. Tottenham don't have a fixture in gameweek 34, which makes things slightly trickier if you don't have a Free Hit chip, because they will then have two double gameweeks before the end of the season. Chelsea will also double twice in the last four gameweeks of the season, while Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle and Brighton will all have a double gameweek, which is almost certainly going to be in gameweek 37. Managers who still have their second wildcard available will rightly be debating whether to play it now, either in gameweek 30 or 31, or in gameweek 35 to really attack the last four weeks of the season with a potential Bench Boost in mind for gameweek 37. If you've still got that Free Hit chip then the earlier wildcard could be tempting because you can bring in as many Tottenham and Chelsea players as you like without having to worry about gameweek, 34 when Tottenham blank and Chelsea are away to Arsenal. I like that strategy because the fixtures look good for both Tottenham and Chelsea in the next few weeks - but if you've already used your Free Hit then you might want to hold on to the wildcard until gameweek 35 and focus your transfers on Liverpool and Arsenal in the short-term as we start to build up towards gameweek 34. 24. Manchester United have entered the race to sign Spain international Dani Olmo, who has a £52m release clause to leave RB Leipzig this summer. The 25-year-old winger is also interesting Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham. (Daily Mail) Manchester United representatives have been to Spain to identify potential transfer targets and 34-year-old Spain striker Joselu, who is on loan at Real Madrid from Espanyol, is one of the names on their list. (Relevo - in Spanish) United will have to pay at least 60m euros (£51.3m) for Brazil international Gleison Bremer, 27, who plays for Juventus, and the Red Devils' striker Mason Greenwood, 22, could be included in the deal. (Gazetta dello Sport - in Italian) Manchester City and Newcastle United will rival Manchester United for the signing of Everton and England Under-21 centre-back Jarrad Brathwaite, 21. (Football Transfers) Italian club Genoa are expecting to receive bids in the summer for 26-year-old Iceland forward Albert Gudmundsson, who has been linked with Tottenham and West Ham. (Fabrizio Romano) Newcastle United ran the rule over several Brazil players during their friendly against England last week, with Barcelona winger Raphinha, 27, and Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, 27, thought to be on their radar. (Newcastle Chronicle) Manchester United and Tottenham target Jean-Clair Todibo, the 24-year-old France international centre-back, could be available for £40m from Nice this summer. (Talksport) Crystal Palace want to sign 19-year-old Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera in the summer but face competition for the Spain Under-21 international from Atletico Madrid.
