  1. About 78% of the eligible population in the US has had at least one dose. Presumably, those with one dose will finish the series in 3 weeks or less. I doubt the remaining 22% would be able to get on a plane to Thailand anyway
  2. As November melts into December and the influx of tourists proves even more underwhelming than feared, maybe they panic and shed a couple more layers of BS. Stay tuned
  3. "..Virologist Dr. Anan Jongkaewwattana asked, if 100,000 foreign tourists arrive in Thailand in a day, how health officials would be able to administer such a large number of RT-PCR tests effectively." And If the quality of the administration of the tests is suspect, how does that affect the false positive rate?
  4. We won't be able to get there again until the summer. Hopefully, by then it will be closer to normal
  5. Even with a significant amount of testing in the US, the CDC has estimated the actual number of cases to date to be about 4x higher than the recorded number of 44M.
  6. Decide what domestic vaccination level gives you confidence to drop the quarantine, insurance, PCR testing and other hoops. Then get there and open up
  7. I suspect the US is in a distant 2nd place to Thailands real favored tourists, the Chinese; but we'll never know for sure
  8. Looks like the current number countrywide for fully vaxed is 29% with 47% at 1 dose
  9. Unless they are awash in vaccine supply, then they should be targeting the older ones first before looking for "volunteers".
  10. I live about 30km outside Wash., DC. So far, the only time I have seen this chaos is when I turn on cable news. On there, It's wall to wall along with COVID sensationalism. Otherwise, I go about business as always and haven't encountered any discernable difference in the behavoir of people from what it's always been.
  11. Certainly if you have family/property/business in Thailand or your time is less constrained, it's a far superior alternative. For the actual "tourists" with limited vacation time available, not so much.
  12. Perhaps as we get through November and still no tourists, their desperation will cause a moment of clarity and they will drop the Q altogether by December
  13. Those numbers appear to be from Sept 22 so not sure how much additional progress they've made in the last 10 days. Their program seemed to have been surging pretty well during September. If they have the supply, they should aim high and come as close as they can. 60% by the end of year would be a huge success considering how abysmal the first several months were.
  14. Me-Pfizer x 2, Wife-J &J, Daughter- Pfizer x 2. All in US
  15. Sounds like they spraypainted the turd a different color and called it a new plan!
  16. Looks like the fully vaxed population went up 12% over the last month. If accurate, that was a major improvement over the previous months. If they have the supply and can maintain that rate or up it a little, they might hit 65-70% fully vaxed by the end of the year. My next hope for getting there from the US is next summer so, for now,I am holding out hope that all we will need to enter and move freely is to be fully vaxed ourselves
  17. Likely also that for the 1.3M documented cases, there are at least twice that many undocumented cases that were mostly asymptomatic which further drives the true mortality rate down
