Mass vaccinations, tests, among measures to handle Omicron wave
nattaya09 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Omicron will blow through and be on to other places before you get any mass booster/testing program established. The good thing is that it appears to peak fast and dissipate fast which also gives governments their opening to claim they "eradicated Omicron" in record time. -
Covid testing costs for travel are exorbitant!
nattaya09 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If those "quality wealthy tourists" weren't coming pre-COVID when ingress/egress and movement was unobstructed, why do the Govt brainiacs think they will come knowing their entire experience while here will now be encumbered by unpredictable govt rules? -
Thailand encounters challenges in supplying Corona vaccines
nattaya09 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The vax rate had been doing well up until mid November but has dropped precipitously since to almost nothing. I was wondering if they had a vaccine shortage or had just hit the ceiling of those who wanted to get it. They have about 66% fully vaxed now. I figured they could leverage the current Omicron scare into reviving it had it been the latter -

Their regular vax rate, which had been really moving well for about four months, has slowed significantly over the last three weeks. Maybe they're reaching the end of the willing recipients and now need a coerced approach...?

TAT confident Thai tourism unfazed by Omicron variant
nattaya09 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
While Travelers who are fully vaxed likely will be unfazed by the Omicron, or other variants, they will be fazed/deterred by how the local government's response to it affects their experience -

Call to people outside Bangkok: Get vaccinated now!
nattaya09 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
41.7M 2nd doses as of Dec 01. Another 6.8M with single dose. I assume by "2nd dose", they mean fully vaxed. That would be about 60% -
Call to people outside Bangkok: Get vaccinated now!

The vaccination rates overall have dropped over the last two weeks . They might have all the willing recipients vaxed. 70% is still within range by mid-January though -
I agree with that number (54%). But it's based on the total population of 70 million which includes those under 12 years old as well. My original comment above that you replied to ("..Thailand currently has 77% fully vaxed if you exclude under 12's...") was a response to a comment referencing the population over 12 years old vaxed in Canberra, Australia. As I also mentioned , I should have said 65% as my math was wrong
