  1. The sheer terror those children experienced in those final minutes is unimaginable and heartbreaking
  2. Wife and I are in the US now. Her village is next door, NongDan. Crime scene photos apparently taken by cops on their iphones were circulated to wives, friends. A few found their way to wife on Line app. Horrific.
  3. Unless it's some kind of private party reserving the space, I can't believe anything past 2am would be cost effective for the establishment anyway.
  4. Most likely typical of the experience of most who get it.
  5. I just got rid of COVID in US. Don't know if it was BA.4 or 5 but those are the dominant variants here. I hadn't been boosted and my original shots were over a year ago. My symptoms were similar to a very mild cold. It took 10 days to get a clean test after 1st testing positive
  6. Fortunately, the schools where I'm at in the US stayed open the entire year through Delta...Omicron...without closing or going back to virtual. The standardized test scores at the end of mostly-virtual 2020-21 school year were abysmal
  7. I just booked two weeks ago, right after the US dropped the COVID test on return requirement, for a trip in August for 3 of us. In the past, I normally booked a few months ahead in pre-covid days. The three tickets cost about 50% more than Aug 2019, which was my last time there
  8. It's likely that those people that wanted to get vaccinated have been and most of the ones that haven't been vaccinated have already had COVID at least once
  9. I remember a few years ago checking into my hotel in Bangkok for the transit back to the US. Imagine my surprise when I stepped up to the hotel lounge bar and found I was in day one of a multi-day, alcohol-free Buddhist holiday and couldn't order an adult beverage. Another lessons learned moment
  10. Good news on the Thailand Pass elimination. I booked our August 2 flight to Thailand a week ago as soon as the US dropped their COVID test return requirement so it appears the stars have aligned for once Seem that normalizing entrance requirements now will rebuild some confidence by tourists that a holiday to Thailand is no longer an unacceptable risk and maybe the country can realize a decent peak season this winter. That is if the tourists can afford the plane tickets
  11. The USA just yesterday dropped their negative COVID test requirement to enter the country. That was a lot more problematic to me than the Thailand Pass as I can now travel to Thailand without fear of being caught up in a problem when I return.
  12. Yes...That was the last obstacle I was waiting to go away
  13. I can't complain about the current tourist requirements in Thailand much. They eliminated the tests on arrival which was the main issue. My main travel problem is the USA requirement for a neg COVID test in order to board a plan home has the same effect as Thailand's previous test on arrival.
  14. The politicized CDC will be the last to let go of COVID
  15. Plus...The hospitals/hospitels will likely give you a great rate if they think they have access to 800k Baht
  16. Chula ranks highest in Thailand but #484 globally on this site, fwiw https://cwur.org/2021-22/country/thailand.php
  17. With the testing on the Thailand side settling out , does anyone have any experience re-entering the US from Thailand with the 24 hour pre-return flight negative COVID test requirement before boarding? I have a bunch of at-home, antigen rapid self-tests....including the free ones provided by the government. My understanding is these have to be applied along with a live online service which produces the test result report (??). Would fly out on a Saturday evening so I assume the 24 hour clock begins at 12:00 am on Friday
