  1. LOL @ the income out of tourisme are not much....this is the biggest BS i read for a very long time.Take al tourists away and look where Thailand will be in few years.

He said it was 6%. It's 6%. What is BS about facts?

    Tourism is 9% of the World's economy, 25% of Hawaii's, 2.5% of Ethopia's, 6% of Thailand's.

Rice exports are way, way more important to Thailand than the tourists, some of which cause more trouble than good.

Well how about adjusting THE SUPER BAHT to a realistic exchange rate?

  2. Why have they quoted figures from 2008? It's half way through 2010 now.

They can't afford to come anyway what with state that Tony Brown dragged the country into, the weak £ and the strong Baht, and the rising costs in Thailand. I don't think there will be as many British visitors this time.

They can't afford it now .... It's too expensive.

You mean their major export will not arrive in great numbers.

Have you ever heard of Canadian hooligans?

  3. but seriously....how long do they want to keep this up?? Forever? If these so called "terrorist" want to do anything, they can do it whatever time they want, or whenever they finally decide to take off the curfew...

Many international flights leave at 7 AM or arrive at 11:30 PM

Only option we have is stay over night at the Airport. I am 67 years old 6'2" tall blond hair blue eyes.My profile must fit their terrorist to a T. As usually THE BOYS in BKK are a joke.Welcome to LA LA LAND :)

  4. You should be ok if you have passport and tickets to show...

Don't hate the PM... hate the reds :)

I made reservations to be picked up from the hotel past midnight, I do not see any exemption for people arriving at the airport and trying to get to their hotels mine is 1/4 mile away.I contacted my Embassy, was told from them better stay at the Airport. That is B.S.

  5. Cabinet may extend curfew in some areas : Suthep

    By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Suthep said the anti-government "underground movement" is still active and plans to cause chaos despite Ratchaprasong protest has ended and reds leaders surrendered.

Suthep entered Government House for the first day since red shirts hold rallies at Phan Fa Bridge and then Rajprasong. He and Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva had used the 11th Infantry Regiment as working venue because of the rallies.

Suthep, as director of Center for the Resolution of Emergency Situation, said said he has instructed the authorities to closely monitor the moves of the underground groups.

CRES on Sunday extended the curfew through Sunday and Monday nights, but it was relaxed banning people in Bangkok and 23 other provinces from leaving their homes only from 11pm to 4am.

A curfew was imposed in Bangkok and other provinces on May 19 between 8pm to 6am to allow security agencies to handle the situation and distinguish innocent people from the red shirts.

Does any one know about people having flight coming in at the airport about midnight and made reservations at airport hotels to be pick up from our hotels? If we have to stay the night at the airport and loose our bookings too I will start to hate that P.M. myself !

  6. Well......

Pattaya has always ben the home for loonies that can't make it in their home Countries.

It is mostly these foreigners that carry guns and run all the SHIT in Pattay, Phuket you name it, under the guise of their "Thai wifes".

Get rid of them and Thailand will be beautiful once again.

I hope they catch this guy.

I have lived in Thailand for more than 25 years and the errosion of their culture started when wannabe gangsters such as this looney take advanatage of the lax Thai laws that allows them to be the best people in the world.

Suppose the laws must be tightened to stop the rot....!!!

What was this guy thinking. Not enough action in Pattaya, he had to loot the gold from Bangkok stores.

GUILTY AS hel_l, lucky this guy caight him on video... that is how stupid he really is...

I have to agree with you on Pattaya

  7. Completely absurd! I am an adult with little to fear from the Red Shirts, or anyone else in Bangkok. Once again, the Thai government chooses to treat its citizenry and the others living here as if we are all 12 years old. Why is it that every "solution" from these guys tends towards the lose- lose category? Incidentally, I walked around last night at 10PM. It was quiet, but there were still normal people out and about. One taxi even tried to pick me up for a fare.

How about us flying into BKK Airport past midnight and supposed to be picked up from our hotel close to the airport?

  9. I would prefer you view on the matter rather than your fastidious observation!

I have thought about it (since I first read it). Most of the fires weren't haphazard as CRES has been discussing on TV.

It could be who is being alluded to. I don't know. No matter how this plays out, I don't think we will ever know for sure anyway.

If this speads which it will, all those in power in elite will be equal, skint and up for mob justice as nobody can ever trust thai court again. it is beginning of messy end for these previous untouchable because have been outed now by internet and modern technology. hope it is painful for them to lose their power and money. We see already names coming out and they will turn on each other as now (why gov is so change mind every 5 minutes and small men on CRES different every week) then Thaksin can come back and clear this scum off political scene for ever.

only fool think it over because only just starting to get angry now. 80 dead and shooting lady live on TV not help, foreign press get shot in temple with many others after gov say it is sanctuary.

i visit phuket last weekend and many reds even there, I outside taxi stand at family mart and they watch on TV. well angry with gov and not afraid even in dem heartland to shout and curse at them.

It is starting to become a Cause and that scares the hel_l out me.

  10. I think the reds are basically peacefull, but Abhisit always changes his mind saying I will desolve parliament and organise elections, the putting all this on hold!

    How can anyone trust him?

    I would get violent too

Abhisit has to resign if he wants peace back in Thailand!

How would any country respond to a guy that was not born even in the same continent and then with a platinum spoon in his mouth and diamond in his cheeks then run their country 20 years later. How would you British like to have some one that spend 20 years or more in Zimbabwe on the other hand you should take him you Knighted him. Robert Mugabe :)

  11. SKY: Thai army declares end to operation against protesters, says troops are in control of capital http://bit.ly/902hB1

Have the Thai army got Mr Bean assessing the situation? In control of the capital? LOL! The Reds haven't even started their fight yet. End the operation? Why? Do the army think they've won because they've arrested some key Red leaders? Do they think the Reds only listen to these leaders in custody? They still don't know the Reds are fighting for a cause. How blind can a government and the Yellow movement be?

You so right this is a cause.

  12. How do I handle my one year visa renewal which runs out this week?

If immigration office is closed and your visa expiry falls on a 'holiday' then immigration does not penalise you by counting that day as a deadline....as far as I know and if memory serves me right, that's how it works...but it's worth double checking this...

Your right on that but every day you wait the pound and euro is taking a beating and it cost you more if you live on a retirement.

  13. Probably quite true I live almost in the heart of Red Country, Nongbulamphu, and many folks are going to head to BKK. I am just keeping my mouth quiet up here. The Red party line rules and there is no other viewpoint.
Soon we will have UDD protesters in every part of Thailand, not only Ratchaprasong and Silom.

It is really their business not ours. Also this forum reminds of FOX News

hype it up some more guys.Bash some Yanks some more if you run out of things to write. Then use THE NATION as your primary source of news :)

  14. 3hrs of sunlight left before the spooks come out. Hoping the army are fully prepared.

Thaksin wanting to negotiate a sign the reds are on the back-foot, or is he merely reading from the script...?

Well, Abhisit used the illusion of negotiations as a prelude to his murderous military offense against civilians. Might Thaksin stoop to Abhisit's level? Why not?

I think you are right . They all belong to the same boys club.

  15. It would be wise for both sides to ask for and use (perhaps privately so Thailand can save face as an independent nation) the assistance of USA mediation -- after all, a country like the USA which has 250+ years of experience in democracy may have some good experience and ideas; whereas Thailand has less than 80 years, and all of it fraught with coups, tension, and conflict. Thailand should realize it is in the infancy of democracy and needs to understand how to deal with it.

    Ah, democracy US-style...

Do you mean like George W, got into power the first time having lost both the electoral and the popular vote?

Or are you referring to the fact that they threw out the British?

Or the conflict between North and South?

Or to the fact that they wiped out as many of the Indian tribes?

Or to the use of slaves?

Wouldn't think Thailand needs that kind of solution. The USA has many great qualities, and I have close family who are American, but your suggestion is not a good one.

Clinton set down with the IRA for a week and it worked for you.
