  1. Any experts on Daikin AC units?

A couple of years ago I had one installed, an FTKC18QV2S for 25,000 Baht.

I like it but can not find the same model, instead find two listed:

    1. FTKM18SV2S at 41,000 Baht that seems the same but so much more expensive or
    2. ATKC18TV2S at 31,000 Baht but no magic eye (to adjust heat setting if nobody in the room) and the inside unit is smaller.

Has the price gone up so much (15,000 Baht in 2 years)?

Is the first model really 10,000 Baht better than the second model?

  2. It's a Lenovo. Often happens.

If the battery is not used for some time it just refuses to charge. Often says you are using a non-Lenovo battery and it is refusing the charge.

Normally if left plugged for some time (a few days) the computer finally comes to it's senses and starts to charge. Can also help to remove the battery and put it back. Darn pest of a thing.

  3. Qatar are not going to get passengers for this flight until they fix their booking system.

Looking for a flight in November from Manchester Qatar could only offer a flight with 17 to 19 hour layover in Doha despite there being a much better connection with only 3 hour layover.

    Took Emirates instead via BKK.

  4. Far as I know the sticker runs from Thai new year to Thai new year, ie 15 April to 14 April. Hence apply now and collect up to end of March. You can use it early, but not late.

You can use the receipt to collect your first sticker, not sure if they'd let you through every day, rather a pain to check.

    • Thanks 1
  5. I might be wrong, my Thai is not that good, but it seems that the 27th November is the last day for applications - that is this Thursday.

Seems very early, normally applications close end of December. Also a close on Thursday seems strange so I could easily be wrong.

  6. Seems classic shell is not being actively developed, has been taken over by Open Shell, but my version still calls itself Classic Shell and still automatically updates when Windows 10 breaks the system.

Using it means there are no blocks etc and you can find the likes of control panel on the start button.

You can save all the settings you have applied before re-install of windows 10 then it is easy to keep it the way you want it.

  7. Reading all of this it seems everyone is travelling on their own, or with someone they do not wish to talk to.

Two people travelling together on Finnair and you have seating that means you can not see let alone talk to each other. Similar with other airlines.

Emirates do have a few seats that are "two together" in the middle but they do sell out fast. Got the last one out of Manchester last month for a flight in October!

  8. If this is a new sticker go as soon as they open. They issue the stickers in order of application and you can not use the road until you have the sticker. So go early November and you get your sticker in January, wait until late December it could be mid March.

Seen some in The Lost Book Shop. 7.11 have them also but can be quiet exspensive there as there is a heavy tax on them,

Not sure that 30 Baht per 100 cards is a heavy tax?

And you can have 120 cards without tax having been paid, but you can not sell them.

That is according to the 1943 law.

  10. Chivas, bit of a mistake on my part, mixed up one and two passengers.

Seat booking £23 per leg per passenger, this is Man-DBX-BKK on emirates business class. Free on Emirates web site.

But whilst checking note that they say only one piece of baggage up to 40Kg - that is over the airports maximum of 32Kg

Checking all the details this company is 2% cheaper than the airline, but with more risk of extra charges - not worth the savings.

    The travel company? Opodo.

  11. You do have to read the terms and conditions - all xx pages of them

Just looked at one agent who's fare was £200 or so cheaper than with the airline.

But seat booking was over £200, free with the airline.

All alterations was the airline fee plus £75

Plus you had to re-confirm 72 hours prior to every flight - not needed with the airline.

  12. I have my 800K on fixed deposit and have internet access. My wife has her own account.

Since she knows the internet codes she can transfer the money to her account at any time - we just lose the year to date interest on the fixed deposit. This is with Bangkok Bank.

I asked the immigration officer about my wife having her own visa in Chiang Mai in January, whilst she was surprised about why she did understand the reason. Provided my wife has the 800K in her account for 3 (now 2?) months before renewal then she can move from dependant to her own visa immediately.

However, I read somewhere that the new regulations are covering this situation in some way still to be clarified.

As far as a joint account Chiang Mai stopped accepting them a few years ago.
