  1. Just answer the OP (makes a change) try Tesco or Big C. Both have Cellox 3 ply ultra soft, both smelly and non-smelly (perfumed) at around 240 for 24 rolls. Don't mix it up with the stuff that is extra long rolls (has a picture of 1 roll = 2 or 3 rolls).

  2. I've changed one of these.

You can buy the mini socket in the tablet, very cheap, (10 Baht??) but a pig and half to fit. Mine worked for a bit then the connection failed again.

You can get on ebay the board with the socket already attached. Not so cheap but under £10 plus a bit for postage. It is small and light.

It is not part of the motherboard so not a problem there.

    Recomendation -

Look at the videos on uTube and find out how to open the Hudl. Not easy but not impossible.

Get a meter and check the battery voltage. If discharged you can use any suitable charger to charge it up (and a few bits of wire) and check that your hudl is working.

If battery OK and Hudl works then get a new board with the mini USB or take just the little board to a local shop to fit a new socket.

By the way the battery is just glued in, carefully pull it up to get it out and don't bend the battery.

  3. Kittenkong, Not disagreeing with you - I think this is another area where there are problems in the Condo Acts.

I did have an interesting time here when a group of owners called an EGM at exactly the same time and place as the AGM. But normally I would expect that the EGM would be asked for after the AGM if it does not cover the matter and the owners feel so strongly about the matter.

Our proxies split into 3 groups, those who give a blank proxy so the holder can do what they like, those that give their proxy holder instructions verbally or otherwise and those that give clear instructions on the proxy form. It does mean that some proxies can not be used if the item is not on the agenda.

There is also the point that the AGM does not have to have AOB on the agenda. (just realized I missed that in my previous post) Bad practice but not against the Condo act.

  4. It is my understanding that for any vote to valid it has to be on the agenda sent to all owners 7 days before the meeting.

So a vote in Any Other Business is just advisory?

I definately do not think a vote in AOB to change the committee would be accepted by the land office - and they have to register the committee.

The agenda has to be sent to co-owners in advance but it does not have to contain an exclusive list of everything that will be discussed or voted on.

AOB votes must be legal. That's what the section is for and if they werent legal there would be no point having the section. Also there would be no point having most meetings at all if the chairman decides the agenda and no one else can add to it.

    I look at this:

SECTION 42/3 Calling a general meeting shall be made by sending out a Notice for the General Meeting specifying the meeting location, date and time and the meeting agenda as well as the details of matters to be presented in the meeting that shall be sent to co-owners at least seven days before the meeting date.

Which is why I think any vote has to be on the agenda sent to owners in advance.

Yes, that means whoever draws up the agenda has a lot of power. If an owner wants something on the agenda and they can not get it included their only option is to get 20% of owners to call an EGM.

As a secondary point if something is in AOB and not notified to owners how do you deal with Proxy votes? Often these are in the majority and should the proxy holder use these votes when they do not know the wishes of the proxy giver?

  5. As OP sorry for a delay in coming back - all the normal excuses apply.

The Condo act is, as always, not totally clear. But there seems to be nothing against actually splitting a unit. Of course you can not put in an extra door without permission.

In our building it also requires permission to change the condo electric, water and sewage supply, so you can not put in an extra bathroom. Nor put in an extra meter (water or electric).

Since our building has a number of large units a line in the regulations is called for. Funny thing is most people have joined units together for larger units!

Short term rentals, a few days are more difficult. I do not want to live in a hotel from the security (too many strangers wandering about), noise (partying whilst on holiday) or any other reason.

I do not think rentals are 'running a business from the condo' will run, especially as often the rentals are run from somewhere else.

I do agree that the Condo Act is rarely enforced by the courts - but the act has given the JP and the owners a lot of power. If they are willing to excercise that power they can control what happens in their building.

Any suggestions as to wording for our regulations to stop splitting units (should be easy) and stop short term rentals (would be harder) are welcome.

    Thanks for all the comments.

  6. I have looked through all the condo acts trying to find a clause relating to short term rentals in a condo building.

It is my understanding that short term rentals are not allowed in a Condo, but are allowed in a Condotel. But I can not find where it says they are not allowed.

Also looking to find the clause that says you can not split a unit into a number of units, ie make a big condo unit into 3 or 4 studios. I know you can not split the title (section 12 of the condo act 2). But splitting a unit could drastically affect the value of all other units, turning a high end condo block into a student dormitory.

Any expert know the paragraph I am looking for?

  7. I just started using Giffgaff for calls rather than trying to find 1p a minute rates then you get connection charge etc. Flat rate 3p a minute from the Sim. Am sure others may be cheaper but is it worth the time for 30 Minutes a month ??

Rest of time I use Messenger, Line or Whatsapp. You could Viber as well I suppose

How does GiffGaff do Thailand for 3p per minute to landline or mobile but 8p for a text and 10p per minute withing the UK - mobile or land line?

  8. No flats on Thailand route as of my last experience therefore the baggage allowance is most generous

Really not sure about the flat seats - the information on Finnair is old, only up to June 2014 but there is a report by someone who flew the route and said it was the new seating. But the old seating is supposed to be almost flat????

But also Finnair are supposed to be introducing the A350 this summer - but not sure when 'summer' actually is.

  9. I am about to book a flight on Finnair costing around £2,600. It is from the UK to Thailand and their website quotes all their prices in £ (GBP).

Do I use my Amex card and get 1% cashback or will I get stung by the 2.99% foreign usage charge since Finnair are in Finland?

Or do I use my Halifax Clarity card and get no foreign usage charge but also get no cashback?

Incidentally Finnair's business class fares to Bangkok look very good and the seating (beds?) look very inviting!

  10. I do not understand two pages and no real answer.

Condo fee is due and always has to be paid unless there is some technical reason. There is no statute of limitation. It is not a personal loan it is an outstanding and on going bill.

Interest is a maximum of 8% for the 1st 6 months the money is owed then up to 20% there after. There is no interest on the interest, only on the actual condo fee due. Most Condo's I know of charge the maximum.

Buying from a bank, normally the bank says you pay all the outstanding fees - it is in the agreement.

You must have a letter from the Condo saying no money is owed before you can register in your name.

This is where the interesting bit comes - if the Condo issued a no debt letter so you could register in your name but money is owing the Condo might have forfiet the option to bill for the Condo fee. But that is complex and with 1 million at stake I would suspect it will go to court.

  11. Wind caused a fair amount of damage to the stalls outside Festival, and the roof blew off the walkway. Oh yes and the big billboard above and in front of festival got damaged.

All cause in a matter of minutes.

  12. Don't care what people say (there was a previous thread on this topic) I like them.

    I do not like A/C.

I find fans just waft the warm air about, both ceiling fans and free standing ones.

I stand it infront of the open window blowing across the bed. The evaporation cools the night air by a couple of degrees and makes it nice to sleep all through the night.

Less effective in a room, I'm still debating whether to use with a window shut or open!
