  1. This is a post I saved when I also was looking for a mechanic. I used Khun Sakda for about 3 years and was always satisfied with his work. He kept a POS VW running in top condition.

I highly recommend him. Don't know if he can get to you "today" but he is excellent.

"A few months ago I gave details here about an excellent mechanic here in Pattaya. I have used his services for the past five years and have found his work excellent and he charges foreigners the same as Thais. Since his workplace is some distance out of town he will come to you, leave his vehicle and take yours away. He also speaks reasonable English. Last week a friend of mine wanted to purchase a used car so he called this mechanic to check it out for him. He arrived on time and my friend was most impressed by the service. The mechanic was happy with the 1,000 baht payment. Since we have all been ripped off from time to time I am placing this information as a means of assisting people with finding someone who is honest and reliable. I do not receive any commission from him.

His name is Khun Sakda and his number is 081715819."

What a breath of fresh air from the usual BS replies we normally get on this forum.

    Thank you micheald.

  2. I did mine last Wednesday Took ten minutes, collected next morning. Requirements were:

1 completed form TM7 (add your phone number at the bottom)

    1 passport photo 4 x 6cm attached to TM7

Copy of Passport ID Page (and the original passport)

Copy of passport page with last entry stamp.

    Copy of your last visa

    Copy of your arrival card

Letter from Thai Bank issued within the last two working days confirming funds have been on deposit for the preceding three months. Copy of bank pass book ID page with name and Account number. Copies of transaction pages for the preceding three months, updated to date of bank letter.

    OR

    Verification letter from Embassy.

Copies of documents confirming you Thai address (supported by originals). i.e. rent book or letter headed receipt of rent paid, True visions invoice, water, electric etc. as long as they are in your name. (They were happy with my electric, water and True invoices but I have been at the same address for five years).

They added a new form to the application which you have to sign. Declaration of compliance.

    1,900 Baht application fee.

Don't forget to sign all of the copies.

There are reports of requiring copies company papers of proof of ownership of a condominium or residence. I took along but they were not asked for. I think this could be the start of identifying landlords who are not paying tax on their rentals.

  3. Thanks to longball53098 for the feedback and DD13 for the PM.

It was the pressure switch which had given up after five years of loyal service. (Not Grundfos, but it does the job). The contacts had worn out. But good news is I got it replaced Monday AM by our local plumber, who knew just where to go and get one. Seems it is a common problem after a few years.

    Thanks

  4. OP has been breaking the law for 19 years and 9 months.

In order to drive in Thailand the requirements are:

    1. A national drivers licence issued in your home country, AND
    2. An International Driving Permit in support of the national drivers licence. *NB – Some believe your home licence in English with a photo satisfies Thai law. In the end it is "up to you".
    3. The maximum period that you can drive a car or bike legally on an IDP (national drivers license with photo) is 60 days on a Tourist Visa, 90 days on a Non-Immigrant O visa. For driving in excess of that a Thai Driver's Licence is required.
  5. Our house water pump has stopped working. It appears that the problem is with the pressure switch Does anyone know someone who could fix it ASAP?

Tried Grundfos in BKK but closed for the weekend.

    Thanks

  6. Sorry gents but whenever you have a a mixture of well-to-do and those just getting by..violence will ensue. Most of you are missing the point..it's this system that we're in that just keeps disparity, injustice going without relief as long as....so sorry to see this day after day and year after year...

Nothing to do with disparity. They are male whores who want to have sex with men for money.

  7. Tropical Berts Khao Noi. Great value, huge portions. If you can get a smile out of the owner then that would be a bonus.

Agree the food at the Tropical Bar is great and the owner always has a lovely smile for me. Nice lady.

  8. When are they going to build a Macro/Big C Extra/Lotus or a decent shopping mall on the dark side? Then I'd never need to battle Pattaya traffic again.

I have heard that Big C are opening a large store on the darkside. Could be in the new Shopping Mall being built in Khao Noi (Boonsampan)

  9. We have quite a few mosquitos in our garden following the recent rains and having had Dengue Fever once, I am not keen to get it again. In many mosquito prevalent countries it is common to fog the area once a week to wipe all of the bugs out.

Does anyone know where I can obtain a small fogging machine in the Pattaya area?

    Thanks
