I was driving south down the 36 about 1pm today & had passed under the 331 when an entourage of rescue vehicles were flying up the other way all with their blues & twos flashing. I reckon there were at least 15 of them including one lorry with flashing lights & RESCUE emblazoned down the side of it but what was even stranger was that 5 or 6 of them had small boats on tow so I was thinking that there may have been a serious incident either in Pattaya bay or Banglamung port.

Antibiotics after tooth extraction - advice please
SidJames replied to RickG16's topic in Health and Medicine
The inside of your mouth is the area of your body most vunerable to serious infection & your body will react quite violently if an infection is allowed to fester, any thing near the brain makes the body reaction rather quickly. I don't like to take pills but on such an extraction I would & rinse with salt water gargles morning & night using clean not tap water unless boiled & allowed to cool. -

I was in Central shopping centre the other day & used the Bangkok Bank maskless (I remember the days when you wouldn't be let into any bank wearing a mask unless you had a gun) on the 4th fl, very quick & polite service but today I tried to use the one on Beach Rd just past Royal Gardens but they won't let me in. The cleaner was sat by the door which was kept locked & she wouldn't let me in without a mask. I understood that they had to wear them during lockdown etc but those restrictions have been lifted besides which I often saw them take off their masks when sat in the little back office those days. I wonder why they still carry on like this.

I'd question the doctor who gave the diagnosis. I'm not saying that teacher was correct but this story just doesn't add up

The immigration officer would be within their rights to refuse entry on the basis that they don't believe the person to be telling the truth about staying the allotted time on a VOA & there is not much you can do about it. Appeals take time & plenty of shillings. When dealing with officialdom in a military dictatorship it is best to keep your head down & answer questions in a timely & courteous manner. Back in the old days a sly notation was stamped on your passport for your next visit but these days they just leave a note on the system for the next officer about you. It's better to be anonymous rather than correct when crossing the paths of certain uniforms.

Why is this news in Thailand? They might as well say that the sun is hot & water is wet in Thailand.

It is also law to wear a helmut when riding on a motorbike but that is not adhered to in most places.

Visit visa for UK
SidJames replied to monsieurhappy's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Passport delivered on Wednesday. That's nearly 16 weeks since the application & exactly 14 weeks since the biometrics, we couldn't get an earlier date without paying for the 'premium' service. I'll report back when(if) the refund arrives. -
I'll pop down with my phone & film it to see if it's open, I understand the fella running the place loves the camera with rumours that he's good mates with Will Smith.

Visit visa for UK
SidJames replied to monsieurhappy's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
I called the visa office in the UK on 0300 790 6268 & explained the situation. The lady on the phone was very understanding & said that she was going to immediately arrange for the application to be cancelled, the passport of my lad returned & for a full refund. She did say that there was absolutely no reason why this has overun but that it wasn't the only one & she had been made aware of a number of applications that were made between late April & early May that seemed to have fallen through the cracks & hadn't been dealt with. Whilest not best pleased with the service that we received, I am happy with the way it has handled at the end & will report back when the passport & the refund are both sorted. -

When we applied the time limit before you could apply was 12 weeks but we are now into our 13th week & it's not practical to fly nor is it now affordable. Is there a way of getting a refund that anyone can advise on? Next time I will get the lad to apply for a French visa then get a rubber boat over to Dover. -

Try the Queen Sirikit Hospital in Rayong. Excellent local Thai hospital but it will mean taking a number & waiting your turn. Prices are very very reasonable

Which currency exchange gives the best deal around town or is it much of a muchness unless you're exchanging large amounts? Do Monzo cards work in Thailand?

What's the best deal & company for someone coming here for the first time for 30days? They have emailed me from home & asked if they should buy a SIM at the airport but they are usually properly inflated prices there so can some advise me please? Date required as it's a young backed type off to do 'real' Thailand on the beaches over in Phuket etc

I'm a regular at Patricks but had a the wahyu at Robin Hood the other day & it was superb at 1700THB with onions cooked in the fat & juicy mushrooms in butter & garlic. They even do chips (fries) cooked in beef fat.
