  1. I heard it's possible to send your money from a UK account (Natwest vtw) to my Bangkok Bank account in Thailand via their branch in London.

I don't speak Thai and making any sense out of people at the bank is almost impossible.

I was wondering if anyone does this regularly and could give me tips.

I'd llike to set it up as a regular payment option in my Natwest online banking so I can do it regularly and have the money in my Thai account within a few days.

    Cheers

  2. I had to sleep rough on the streets of Bangkok for 2 nights and it was quite an experience.

Waited far too long to put in a big invoice and mistakely expected it to be paid straight away.

Luckily I sold something from my website and had enough to pay for room and food until my invoice was paid.

Now I always put them in early lol

I learned sleeping rough in BKK isn't so bad. There is free drinking water and a shower in Lumpini park costs about 5bht. Noodle soup to eat is also very cheap if you're starving.

If this guy has to be fed he must have absolutely nothing to his name.

I hope he manages to sort himself out and the best place to do it is probably back home.

  3. Got all mine done in Wat Bang Phra, but it's outside Bangkok. The journey would be worth it instead of getting a second rate one done.

It's the same as a normal tattoo, the pain will change depending on where you get it done.

    Does get quite nippy though.

  4. Thanks for the replies.

    Thought this thread had died.

I actually figured out Bangkok Bank rents boxes for a decent price per year, so I might see if any of the main branches in BKK have any available.

How much do they charge? Big enough to fit a backpack in?

It's on their site, but it's around 1,000 to 4,000 per year.

Not big enough for a backpack, but big enough for important documents and electronic valuables etc.

  5. Tbh it sounds like they said no because it would just be delaying the inevitable.

If you want cash in a week you can write for peanuts on places like Text Broker and iWriter. Complete jobs and they'll put money into Paypal every week. Live someone cheap and eat cheap while you do it.

Then slowly start building yourself up.

If you work online then going home doesn't mean much anyway. You can just think of it as a small delay until you can build up your business and come back.

  6. I'm not talking big ones where you'd keep couches, etc.

Just small ones that could accomidate something the same size as a backpack. Obviously it would have to be a secure building with cameras, guards, etc.

Just had a passport scare and it's made me realize I don't want to walk around with every important document I own in a backpack.

I'd love a facility like this to be available so I could make my way there in event of emergency.

Does such a place exist that might charge a monthly fee?

    TY

  7. You realize it is a Muslim island right? You have to follow their rules, there is no tolerance against infidels in Islam. I went there 2 times, I was warned by tour guide not to bring Alcohol or drink Alcohol on the island, not to offend precious muslims in Island.

Of course they can't watch you 7/24 in your hotel room or something but why bother? Just pick another island with no islamic management.

Have you actually been there? You know they sell alcohol on the island right? lol.. and it comes in buckets.

Went there 2 times. In first one there was no beer in mini marts in beach. In second time, i brought my own beer and drank despite the warning.

I did not stay in hotel if thats what you mean. Of course they will allow everything in a hotel! They do in maldives, which also happen to be hundred percent muslim country.

Here are a few pics my friend took that might prove things have now changed.

  8. Phi Phi is also full of foreigners working everywhere.

I'm not just talking about a guy running a pub and selling beer to customers.

I'm talking multiple flyer touts standing outside bars trying to tempt people in and all that crap.

Basically the exact same as Magaluf, Kavos, etc.

    Wasn't expecting that.

  9. I think I got a little over-excited by all the backpackers walking around in tiny bikinis.

If there are similar (but cheaper) islands I might try them instead.

I still like Phi Phi, but like a few people mentioned it's double prices for most things like water.

Any suggestions you can give me?

I need good Wi-Fi connection, so thinking Samui or Phangan (been to both).

Island can't be too small because I prefer a lot going on. I know Phi Phi is small, but it does have lots going on.

To the guy that said I'm a wanabee if I need to ask where the happening place is - get over yourself. I just want somewhere with a good vibe. I'm not looking to find an untouched place the masses won't descend on for years.

  10. I'm thinking about moving down to the islands again next year. I've visited Koh Tao a few times, but the most I've stayed is a few days before moving on. Most of my time was spent drinking and sleeping.

I was wondering what it was like to live there.

Is it too quiet? Is the internet decent? Can you buy nice meat and veg from market? Is it somewhere you could go for walks in the forest? Are there any great beaches? Etc...

If you live there I'd love to know if you enjoy it.

I'm open to other islands too.
