Yes, I live on the Chalong 'side' of Rawai (edit - although not near Chalong Circle)- but the work has been going on for the last 2 years or so, why has it suddenly become an issue when it comes to power-cuts?

So do we, I estimate over the last 2 yrs we've probably had 20+ power cuts of the expected and unexpected type.

My point was that long power cuts are more frequent recently.

Over the last few years only a couple, but 4 in the last 2 weeks!

You've been very lucky if thats the case (IMO)

  3. "However, regarding the live ammunition from a shooting range ending up in the hands of a drug suspect on Phuket’s streets, Col Akanit said, “There is no need to question Kathu Phuket Shooting Range further. Normal people can go to a gun range and buy bullets for use after their shooting session".

I must be missing something here, so there's no permit required to buy live ammo from a gun range and take it off the premises?

I have lots of Thai friends and I have repeatedly invited them to come and visit me in Phuket (even going so far as to offer to pay for their air or bus tickets).  All of them decline...the reason...too expensive...and too dangerous.

    Yeah, that's probably the reason....

Why would you want to live in Phuket? You love tourists? You love foreign expats? You love Thai ladies for sex? You love paying too much at tourist restaurants? I've lived in Thailand for 13 years and love Isan. Very few tourists! Very few expats Love low costs Thai Food! I love my Thai wife! No, I would never live in Phuket, in fact, I've never been to Phuket and never plan to. Move to Isan and enjoy Thailand and it's

    people.

^^Coming on here with a stupid post like that makes 2 things obvious, you've got nothing to do and no friends to do it with...lol...yeah, great place you live.

To the OP, my preference is the Chalong and as stated, theres loads of restaurants that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Also like Rawai and Nai Harn but the circle a bit of a pain at the mo, not to bad if you're on a bike though.

Contrary to what some idiots will probably post there's a lot of happy people at all parts of the island, just gotta find your place.

So sorry Dave to say you stuff your face with spam, so the last time you had Spam was 40 odd years ago, wow, that's a long long time.

My friend in Malaysia will set up a driving school for trucks and he wants to employ me ( I am in my early 50s) He says he wants a farang face around to give the school some credibility. I give talks on truck driving and of course sometimes I climb up one of these  trucks and show the students how to reverse. All done within the compound of the driving school, I can't go on the road because I only have a Thai truck driving license. Other driving instructors do the teaching on the road.

So my Thai friend has already found out this driving school in Khon Kaen, apparently a good one. And I can get a Thai license for truck or heavy vehicles.

Businessmen are always using tricks to get business. It will be a legitimate truck driving school with good experienced local malaysian truck drivers teaching except for me who just got the license and will just hang around to give it the boost.

If the students know I just got my license in Thailand would they be cursing and swearing?
