  1. Well neversure and I have posted extensively about the property bubble here in LOS...But we were hailed down by most member as tin foil hat wearing lunies...go figure...

Did it say in the OP that there IS a property bubble?

    Must re-read again I guess.

I strongly suggest that you go out tomorrow and buy about a dozen condos for investment. You can't lose. After all, real estate always goes up, and no matter how many units are built or how many vacancies there are, and no matter how many of the units are being bought on speculation by other speculators, you can't lose. No matter how much foreign money comes in to be laundered, it would be very nice of you to help out. No matter that banks will be under water if the value of their loan collateral drops due to a drop in real estate prices, you can't lose. In fact, buy some Thai owned bank stock while you're at it.

Just remember. Real estate always goes up and never crashes. It never has, anywhere. Pay no attention to all of the signs of a bubble, and pay no attention even to news that the banks and government are concerned. You can take that to the bank.

See, I love you so much I just want to help out. coffee1.gif

It's good wholesome advice like this that the newbies to Thailand need, well done, the only thing you should have suggested was that he put all the condos in his new girlfriends name to ensure maximum investment potential.

  2. "Australian immigration chiefs have denied Thai media reports that the two guards, from a private firm that runs Australia's immigration security, were asleep when he got away.

so they watched him walk away?

I love how the Australian immigration chiefs are so confident their guards weren't sleeping. I have never heard of someone being escorted beyond loading them on a plane in a deportation case and in an extradition case it is usually the requesting country who sends reps. to pick them up. The U.S. sent a private jet to pick up Victor Bout.

No need to handcuff his ankle to the chair then.

Quite surprising he was able to get away, clear immigration, get transport into Bangkok and stay in a hostel (possibly after a night on Patpong and some personal fun), and still have enough money left over to pay a 6000 baht fine. Who said prices are going up....... or is the trade in value for a pair of shackles more than I thought!

So you actually know he has 6000 baht to pay the fine or is this just another stupid comment picked out of the air ? As to the money, would have been easy to take from a drunk farang who is so busy posting all sorts of allegations based on nothing onto Thaivia he wouldn/'t have noticed a few thousand Baht go from his pocket, have you checked your pockets ????

  3. I have never had a high opinion of English Teachers in Thailand but this chap is barely literate in the language.

How on earth could someone like this get a job teaching?!

    Patrick

Easily, you pay peanuts you get monkeys.... Thailand being one of the lowest payer for foreign teachers.

Lol, you ask how could he get a job teaching, when you see students being unable to speak a word of English after years of having Thai teachers then you will understand. Like China its usually the white face they want to attract the rich parents, educational ability has little to do with little things like teaching as they don't care if the kids learn or not.

  4. Actually, the wheels falling off an aircraft in SE Asia is quite normal. One of the certified aircraft mechanics simply forgot to put a cotter key and lock nut on the axle shaft after hanger inspection. This is the same type of accident as when a wing on a 737 (Thai Air Narathiwat) at Don Muang blew up because the plane had a "faulty" air-conditioner installed. The fact that the Prime Minister was do to board had absolutely nothing to do with it.

    attachicon.gifBKK.jpg

    http://www.b737.org.uk/accident_reports.htm 3 Mar 2001; HS-TDC, 737-400, 25321/2113, FF 22 Aug 91, Thai Airways; Bangkok,

    Thailand:

The flight was being prepared by 5 cabin crew members and 3

ground staff members for a flight to Chiang Mai. The Thai Prime Minister was one

of the 149 passengers waiting to board the plane. 27 minutes before scheduled

departure time, a fire erupted in the cabin, killing a flight attendant and

injuring 6 others. The fire was put out in an hour, but by then the aircraft had

    been gutted.

Subsequent investigation discovered that the centre tanks

pumps had been left running when tank was dry which caused the explosion.

Accident very similar to Philippine Airlines 737-300 accident on 5 Nov 90

Killjoy, you've put a stop to the Thaivisa armchair detectives and their conspiracy theories :)

  5. i understand this problem of separating water and hydrogen cheaply and whilst on the move had been cracked many years ago

a number of patents were approved to protect the process

unfortunately, the major oil companies hold the patents so you won't see a commercial version of this process anytime soon

If the patents were issued many years ago then you will. a patent only has a shelf life of 20 years in most countries.

Besides if they existed China would have copied the idea by now. A little thing like a patent wouldn't bother them :)

  6. Passport applications vary from country to country. I did not apply in person to get my new British passport a few months ago but was inconvenienced by having to send the application to Hong Kong.

This story also states that he applied for a new German Passport but failed to collect it on Monday. That would indicate that one was granted which I find very hard to believe. [...]

He was not granted one. You have to show up in person to apply for a passport and apparently he had realized that he was already making headlines in the media and would not get one, so he didn't show up.

exactly and that is why I said, I find this very hard to believe. I don't know where the Nation would have got this idea from.

"The German passport contains biometric data (a finger print), so it cannot be done on a phone call and picked up later."

So do the UK passports but they get issued via carrier via Hong Kong

  7. My advice is; avoid altercations and major disputes in Thailand, including the whole South Asian region.

Guns here are as easy to obtain as a bar of candy, if you know where to look, some make their own guns, even my mother in law, obtained from a cousin, has a gun in her home, although I doubt she has the knowledge to use it.

The philosophy here is; shoot first, worry about the consequences later.

Avoid road rage, arguments in bars, with neighbors and in other public places. Pick and choose the company you keep carefully in Thailand, stay within the boundaries of the laws, keep smiling, don`t lose your rag, calm any Western aggressions and keep a low profile.

My son is a policeman in Chiang Mai and the above is his advice. Ignore at your peril.

Really, well I never!Have you ever told anyone on here before?rolleyes.gif

I think he may have mentioned it before seeing you mention it whistling.gif

  8. A British Businessman spent the night in Sattahip Police station, after reporting another Englishman for assault on a 13 year old schoolboy.

What this is telling me is that Lee Booty spent the night in jail becasue he reported Andrew Tracy for what Mr. Booty suspected was a crime; i.e. beating a boy, in a remote bush, and dragging him with what appeared to be a belt around his neck.

Can reporting get any more galactically idiotic?

And regarding foreign pedophiles getting caught in the act; is it only myself, or are there others out there who marvel at how Thai boys in particular rarely, if ever, report to the police themselves until the police apprehend the suspect and an issue is made out of it? That beggars belief much more than a single predator getting out on bail because he paid these cretins money.

This in itself almost has the stench of these little prostitutes seeing their cash cow being snatched away and immediately wanting to cash in on another one of their lesser favorite past times; popularity inspired by that underlying motive of greed.

Whilst I agree with all the self-righteous rantings about what should be done to these damaged individuals who prey on children, I cannot in good conscience leave it lying there.

When the "prey" knowingly and willfully place themselves within the hands of the "predator" again and again, without being able to provide any evidence that they are being confined, secretly hidden away from society and forced to commit atrocities or have atrocities committed on their little bodies, then I begin to wonder if it has been stamped upon their little heathen consciousness that what they are willfully doing is wrong. For them to knowingly, willfully and eagerly market their bodies with the support and nurturing of their families and community, they all do not seem to understand in their heathen ways that when they mature into adults that Thai society, as a whole, will corrode even further by their mere presence and participation in it. Again, that beggars belief much more than a single predator getting out on bail because he paid these cretins money.

I cannot believe for one instance that the Thai adults in the immediate community are ignorant of the goings on of foreigners who trespass their environment without any legal or legitimate purpose, and who are often seen in their midst demonstrating an obscenely large amount of attention to the children of these Thai adults. That beggars belief much more than a single predator getting out on bail because he paid these cretins money. I can't find a bush to piss behind without a Thai somewhere gawping at me. There is nothing kept secret in Thailand.

I also cannot believe for one instance that these Thai adults are ignorant of the scum Thai men and women who inhabit their environment and small community with the sole purpose of recruiting little girls and boys for the purpose of sexual gratification for Thais and foreigners alike. Thais know their neighbors better than the police databases throughout the kingdom. That beggars belief much more than a single predator getting out on bail because he paid these cretins money.

What I do believe is that many small Thai communities are fully aware of this type of trafficking and their feeble minded cultural tolerates it with Buddhist-type yearnings of hope for a few Thai bahts if nothing more. Or, perhaps their sense of Kreung Jai forbids them from disrupting some poor, ignorant soul's path to Nirvana. Again, Thai Buddhism at work making vulnerable children unsafe and turning them into future disasters for Thai society reaching self-actualization. That beggars belief much more than a single predator getting out on bail because he paid these cretins money.

Admitting your crime and pleading for mercy after you are caught is about as disingenuous as shouting "victim" after the fact, when in fact there was nothing stopping you from doing it all along. But... WHY did you not say anything until now? yet again beggars belief much more than a single predator getting out on bail because he paid these cretins money.

But that is what it is all about with these people, isn't it? Money! Get as much as you can whilst alive, and even when you die they will purchase spirit money and burn it so you can have it in the next stinking hole you incarnate to.

This is not about pedophiles doing what they do. No! It is all bass-akwards. What it is really about is a culture that breeds the substance which attracts flies, and its willingness to turn the garbage dump into an international attraction that exists like nowhere else. After all, what could Thailand possibly offer that would compete with the rest of the world and create an attractiveness for tourists were the Thais not so tolerant on these issues? I ask you, what?

Herein is a story about the true meaning of human greed, and how it can morally decay a society to the lowest form of existence on the evolutionary scale of mankind's forward development.

The cretins so oft referred to in your post are ? Surely it is the courts who set bail so are they the cretins or is it the BIB ?

So the boys are prostitutes because they wish to bring money into the family ?

Beggars belief ? how long have you been in Thailand

  9. what a waste AGAIN,,sadly they wont ever learn, sleeping policemen at blackspots may help,,but i doubt it,,

Sleeping policemen ? they're dozy enough when awake ! :) mind you the idea of running over a few is pretty appealing.

Sooner we have cars that drive themselves on the mass market the better, Especially for the accident rate in Thailand.

  10. You know how hard it is to avoid pedestrians when your blind drunk ? These farang have no Thai road sense, ie they walk at night, how risky is that !

Would never have happened if the farang had stayed at home, ergo its his fault !

Please note this is English humour Mad having to explain my post but I see from other humourous posts that some people here do not understand appropriate smileys or have zero sense of humour

  11. How easy it is to scam the greedy. She should be in jail for attempting to launder money. Zero sympathy

Earth calling Suffinator... Please please explain where you dreamed up that she was hoping to launder money.

Easy to scam the stupid too, a prime example would be you but there again you would misread it as you did this post !!!!

Jailed because a guy was going to send her millions of Baht so she could buy a house etc ? that a criminal offence ?

  12. I wonder what the statistics are for death and serious accidents on big bikes in Thailand. They are dangerous machines not amusement park rides.

All rentals should be limited to 125cc and a valid driving license.

I personally escaped a nanny state and if you need that type of regulation in your life I suggest leaving Thailand.

Personal choice, so a very small percentage die but 99% have fun safely. Ban this and that because a few die, might as well live in a prison ! lets ban cars they kill people too................

  13. If you look at the activities of Seh Daeng during the weeks prior to his death, one thing stands out. Seh Daeng was mouthing off to the press about how Thaksin told him to do this, or Thaksin wanted that.

My bet is that Seh Daeng's mouthing off to the press was an embarassment to Thaksin and was also directly implicating Thaksin to the activities undertaken by Seh Daeng, the men in black and the red shirts.

A call was made from Dubai to someone in the Phua Thai, or one of the red shirt leaders, and the message was clear and simple... 'Shut Seh Daeng up by any means necessary.'

Seh Daeng was silenced. Who actually pulled the trigger is irrelevant, but it was Thaksin who gave the orders.

Oh yeah, and did you also know that Thaksin was responsible for the 2008 Financial Crisis? I heard he gave the order for that one too.... whistling.gif

I too heard that Taskin was behind the sub prime mortgage crash that ruined the west, is behind all of

Thailand's current problems, the troubles in Burma and wasn't he around in Dubai when they had their property crash whistling.gif He sure is a busy guy......

  14. ...nobody should swim or dive alone....let alone an older person...

...any responsible local, familiar with the dangers....a witness .... should act accordingly...or be hled accountable...

(...hopefully, the holding of the persons valuables is not behind the lack of concern or involvement...)

Held accountable ? for what not telling a farang in Thai that its dangerous to swim somewhere ? Accountability in Thailand, good luck with that...

Should not swim alone. omg are you for real, perhaps no one should cross a road on their own too ?

This guy could easily have had a heart attack than have been in difficulties due to currents.

  15. is it possible it was your wife that took a % as she was the only one who knew where you and the contraband was at all times

nice guy hate to be your wife with that sort of stinking thinking.

He was stitched up and ripped off by greedy aholes.

and have you never heard of thai ladies that will take every last baht from their boyfriend/husband and then move on to the next victim

They exist in every country in the world, you have a point to make ? I'm sure there are no more scheming ladies per capita here than any other country in the free world.

You always here of the poor farang that got taken to the cleaners but the many more successful relationships are just not news worthy so those with limited IQ make the leap of turning myth into fact.

Of course farangs never mistreat their Thai ladies..........
