  1. Caused by so many illegals using agents. It's not a win win for those that need to show extra requirements when doing it legally. Those that don't satisfy immigration requirements, or have more money than sense to avoid a queue, are causing the widespread corruption in the immigration police. Corruption is not OK just because many do it! Still waiting for the name and contact number of an agent that isn't breaking the law.
  2. Indeed, I renewed my license recently and there first question was 'madam you where?'! I replied(in Thai) 'madam me no want renewal'.
  3. Possibly some of the smaller ones only do this for 1,000 baht or so. The ones that charge 15,000 baht are bribing rogue immigration officers. I'd be surprised if this type ONLY do the form filling and accompanying. I'd stand corrected if you could give me the contact details of a legitimate visa agent.
  4. I'd guess 99% are. If they bribe police to ignore immigration requirements, like having enough funds to be here, of course they are illegal. I challenge anyone to give the name of a legal agent.
  5. I usually say live and let live, but not if the law is being broken. Of course it affects you; these illegal immigrants make it harder for decent, law-abiding folks.
  6. These agents can claim what they want, to increase their fee. They must think you are stupid. Why can't you get your stamp transferred by yourself? How much are they charging?
  7. I had to give a copy of my parents' passports! I translated their names myself
  8. Many Thai people don't live at the address on their HB, it's not important. Yes, it's easy to change YHB, the only difference to the BHB is that you need a letter from the old town house. In 25 years, I was never asked for YB at immigration, they don't care about this. I only changed my YB as it was easier to apply for citizenship in Bkk. My BHB is still there, despite living outside Bkk. I'm in no hurry to change it.
  9. I wonder why this story in the main Thailand news. Some dude's flight was cancelled. I'm flying soon and if it cancelled, I don't want my ugly mug plastered all over here.
  10. British taxi drivers should go to Butlins.
  11. Just wondering why it is necessary to change YHB?
  12. Which bank didn't allow you to open an account? Are you a tourist here?
  13. OK, so most don't. Metrobank's requirements are similar to banks here. Thailand is not any harder to get a bank account than anywhere else.
  14. I agree, I only got a yellow HB as I needed it to get Thai citizenship. It's not needed for anything else, although saves a trip to immigration every 5 years when renewing drivers licence, well only of you don't have a WP.
  15. Do banks in other countries like USA , UK give accounts to foreigners with no job?
  16. Thailand is a very hierarchical social structure and if your wife is on the lower rungs of the ladder, she will never fix this issue(especially after this boss has lost face), you need outside help, need to pay someone to fix this for you, or alternatively go to the ombudsman - https://www.ombudsman.go.th/new/
  17. Dogmatix gave you wonderful advice early on in this thread. Not sure why you never even acknowledged that post.
  18. Did you know the US government bought BTC last week? Well according to Tucker Carlson.
  19. All the "Thai justice is not like the West" posters song be happy to hear that ???? Guys the bashers will change to "Thai penalties are too high" lol
  20. Yes, that's the most common scam, they tell foreigners they are not entitled to interest.
  21. No it can't. It's from Chinese , not Arabic or Portuguese. It's an honorific for elderly Thai women of Chinese heritage, never a maid or nanny.
  22. The director was in court recently accused of giving 40 million baht to 12 people in the Ministry of Education. They were found guilty and given jail sentences, the director was acquitted. Not wise to mess with these people in a small Thai city.
  23. Just what I was thinking. "I'm miserable in Thailand because I don't integrate into society, and to make me feel a little better, I bash the Thais. If you want to tell me I'm wrong, you are an apologist" ???? Self-righteous indignation to the max.
  24. I hope you're not married to a Thai if you think this; what a ridiculous thing to say, do you live in Pattaya or something?
