    I spoke to a few Chinese last night, from Harbin to Hong Kong and they say last week was really bad but now everyone is better.

    I agree, I shudder when I hear of friends, especially older ones riding motorcycles here. I've seen too many deaths, including close family members, to ride one myself.

    I never ask for the meter, I just get in and tell them where I want to go. If they know you are not a tourist, chances are they won't rip you off. I usually have a bit of friendly banter, talking to them in Isarn dialect, as most come from there. If they don't, still have a laugh.

    Since 2000 or so, I always use the meter and never any issue. It eh early 90s, used to be issues as they never used the meter but never any issue now. I wonder why you ask for a price before?

    No tip for a haircut. I am Thai, but also ethnically financially miserly.

    The police have better things to do that investigate whether a drunk, drugged woman said yes or no. It's hardly the man's fault is if she was not sober and how is he supposed to know if she wanted it or just said she wanted it and changed her mind the next day when sobering up?

    My parents were made pay 1000 baht extra to a taxi that stopped on the elevated highway and started taking their bags out.

    And my local course won't even give me the Thai price, despite being Thai! Also, when foreigners are the clients, the caddies seem to think the foreigners are working for them, no the other way around.

    I think I have a bad cold with a sore throat, lots of sneezing, runny nose. I haven't heard of such a thing for a long time. Anyone else caught a cold recently?
