  1. Are you suggesting Thai men are more violent that non-Thai men?
  2. Prices will continue to go down as the recession continues in the cold countries and there are less renters here. I've seen a big drop in rent cost in Hua Hin in the last month, despite all agencies saying they will go up. Some who have been away from their houses for Covid, prefer to rent their house here to have a bit of extra cash, however there are not enough renters. Good time to buy, I'm looking right now.
  3. Disco, lol, that's a new word for it! You didn't have the funds for citizenship? Cost me 5,000 baht! Good luck getting a DL ???? After showing my golf caddy my ID card the other day, she said she had once met a foreigner with a Thai Driver's License, I was shocked. 2 weeks ago, I showed my Thai ID to a shop I am a member of and asked for a membership card - they said no need as I have a Thai DL, just show it, very strange.
  4. if you are working, you can show your WP. If you are not working, you have all the time in the world ???? especially once every 5 years to renew DL ????
  5. I guess you don't have kids? I have daughters and I can't watch them all the time.
  6. Thailand has some of the strictest sentencing in the world.
  7. Do your male friends tell you they fantasize about underage girls? If my friends did, I'd change them immediately.
  8. And a foreigner here for many years paying tax should get PR/Citizenship and get equal treatment. I doubt there is a high percentage of the Pattaya Poom Pui brigade that work.
  9. You mean toilet paper for putting on the dining table? Not much other use for it.
  10. Thais like Switzerland. Similar to here, if you are working, you can get PR after 5 years, citizenship if married to a local.
  11. What are you saying? People are going to steal the food? How long have you lived here? Thai people are very compassionate.
  12. His stuff her speech make Thailand lose face? They are not at war and don't side with either side.
  13. Boon Koon is not Filial Piety. kwam ga tan new is Filial Piety
  14. When I hear guys here quoting the laws around the world for child sex, I block them immediately.
  15. I agree, it sick to see some poster talk about this. However, not pedophilia, still perverted and illegal if not having parents' permission to get married.
  16. I was just putting things into perspective as there are many foreigners here who get into a downward spiral negativity, bashing anything they see here, even if it is positive. Regardless of what some say, it is almost impossible for a Thai retiree to move to the US. The Thai government is trying to make it easier for quality foreigners. The others, many of whom are lucky to be allowed to live their dream here, wouldn't be allowed to retire in other countries. Their continual moaning has driven young people away from this forum. Believe it or not, under 40s used to be the majority here. Personally, I don't understand why anyone would want to live in Finland; I worked there and wouldn't ever go back, mainly due to the climate and what it does to the people in winter. The Thai government have obviously got to stop certain people from richer countries from buying land. This law was first introduced to stop Japanese buying land in Bangkok. It is not as simple as what some think when allowing those married to Thais to buy land or get citizenship as there is a ridiculously high number of old, male Westerners who come here and conveniently marry young women from the bottom rung of the social ladder, many of whom worked in the sex industry as cashiers. The govt. is very tolerant to these types, despite them being a burden on the health system. Accept Thailand as it is, a tolerant developing country, which when all things are considered, is better than where you came from.
  17. Because a Thai would pay tax in the UK on their earning, whereas this guy doesn't. I'm sure he continues to pay tax on his UK pension. You are not paying tax here when buying something in a shop, I'm talking about tax on earnings.
  18. No, as a Brit, I would also have to invest $500,000 for a retirement visa in the USA. Same in Australia, who are very choosy who they let in, unlike Thailand. Until there is there is some kind of reciprocal agreement, Thailand will make it hard for foreigners to buy land. I know a few Thais who would want to retire to the US and Oz, but they can't.
  19. A Thai has to invest $500,000 to get a multi year retirement visa in the USA. Retirees here have it too easy in my opinion, leading to moaning at any difficulty, like spending 1 hour a year and $50 in immigration.
  20. What about the deaths of ''''drug suspects''''' that you ordered to be killed without trial? Arrogant, pathetic, corrupt killer.
  21. Nothing much has changed since 2002, when foreigners could buy up to one rai. Only thing is, it is at the discretion of General Anupong ????
