  1. I was told it was to prove who my parents were. Then needed to copy their passports. You MUST have your parents names on the blue housebook, but not the yellow book, although as usual offices have their own rules. Always a good idea to have a gift voucher. I used my one, 1500 baht Robinsons, to get an appointment before my visa ran out. She immediacy found an opening.
  2. Interesting you see yourself as a victim. This is only in your head :) Foreigners pay the normal price, they are victim to nothing. Do you think trying to use a Non-Thai ID card to pass as a Thai is morally correct?
  3. Yeah, I got on a couple of places cheap because of it. It does show you are a resident. Well actually it doesn't. You can get one for life and even if you just come every year for 2 weeks you could use it.
  4. It is needed for the citizenship process, i.e to get on the blue housebook. The district staff add requirements as it's their way of getting more money when people ask 'is there any way we can fix this issue?'
  5. Indeed. I think people feel they have successfully integrated into the culture if they have one. I've read about people showing it at places where Thais get discount, which is stupid as it says "NON THAI' on the front. Much better to speak Thai to them or show a WP.
  6. Good and interesting to see that they have noticed they have been giving the wrong cards to Westerners. Good luck at the amphur!
  7. If you are worried about having to pay tax here, better to keep them open and actually open more so you can send small amounts to each. However, the many foreigners I know who worry about this are worrying over nothing.
  8. Much cheaper to send your money to your bank account than using the ATM.
  9. Why do you respond to those who can't see your posts? Very strange behavior.
  10. Biden's support of Israel's 'alleged Genocide' will result in Trump being in power at the end of the year.
  11. Do you mean finish off Hamas or the Gazans people? I can understand your position. I sympathise with Israeli civilians. I agree with finishing off Hamas but not the way they are doing. Even Biden said they're was indescriminate bombing, which is a war crime.
  12. Of course I don't object to the pink card🤣 I thought on the back of the card it says you need written approval by the district office. Could you post a photo of it? The pink IDs are not really for farang. There is a law which states all aliens need an alien certificate but the authorities turn a blind eye as they'd have too much work. 10 years ago or so, some French lawyer thought he'd demand his 'rights' and told other farang they could get a card. However, the authorities just gave them the card that is meant for migrant workers, which isn't the actual alien certificate. The amphur people don't like it as they've got enough work with the migrant labourers and stateless people. This is why they make up rules and add obstacles for farang getting one, as they know farang have passports or work permits which is all they need for daily life here.
  13. When I got an extension based on marriage, I thought I needed a letter from the Bank that had my passport number on it. If I'm mistaken, apologies. Maybe I'm thinking of another letter.
  14. Isn't it strange that when you criticize Israel's actions posters assume you support Hamas. No one here has been supporting Hamas. We all just want innocent children to be live.
  15. I believe the current cards still have the writing on the back saying you can't travel interprovince without consent from the amphur.
  16. Does anyone know if you can sell gold with a pink ID card?
  17. I am cherry picking nothing. You say you got a statement from the bank by just showing your pink ID card. I find this very strange and was refused when I tried it with my pink card at 2 different banks. If this was for showing immigration, surely you needed the letter from the bank as well. Maybe as you showed them your passport for the letter you needed to extend your visa, they didn't ask for it when giving the statement. I assume you did the two things together. Yes, we have discussed this before but the important question is 'did you get the letter from the bank to show immigration at the same time as you got the statement'? This question has been avoided. I've been asked for my passport and WP after opening bank accounts with my Thai ID. They tell me it is law to see foreigners' passports. They assumed I was a foreigner.
  18. 2 months ago, I jumped through hoops to get the SS card but they said if the card starts with an 8, they couldn't give one. This was confirmed by head office in Bangkok.
  19. I got my pink ID card from the Forensic Police in Khon Kaen
  20. Your bank obviously are not the normal and don't understand the law. I find it bizarre if the bank gave you a letter to immigration without asking for your passport. Pink ID does not show you are legally in the country, ie you have a valid visa. 2 of my banks asked me for my passport after showing them my blue Thai ID card.
  21. Strange they didn't ask for your passport for the number to put on the letter you need from the bank with this statement.
  22. Same as me, just write parents names, no proof. However, when going for citizenship I needed copies of parents' passports and my birth cert.
  23. Your account will have to be in a Thai name then? I mean Thai letters. Did you need a passport translation?
