    You could have offered them 500 baht, this is how it works in the distict office. They give you thing that aren't neccessaray in order to recieve this 'fix it' payment. Parent's names is only required if you are going for citizenship, I heard.

    Yes, the housebook is official residency proof. Incidentally, I couldn't get a SS card as my Thai ID starts with an 8.

    You most certainly do not need a pink ID to continue Thai SS payments.

    You still have to show your passport to do transactions.

    That's about the only use of a pink card, once every 5 years, saves you getting a residence cert. However, some places, for example khon Kaen don't accept it.

    Legally, you can not do bank transactions with a pink card.

    It gives you a false feeling of belonging when in fact Thais laugh at farang with a pink migrant card. There's also the danger you could be more likely to have to pay tax on funds you take into Thailand. Don't get one.

    Interesting, I've had similar with Revolut, an online bank, and 3 cryptocurrency exchanges. Nothing from Transferwise yet.

    If you integrated into society, you'd understand the disrespect here. You are hypocritical, you think as a non Buddhist you have a right to visit 100 temples for no religious reasons, yet criticize locals for having a party. It most definitely isn't about money. Thais are tolerant. They would disrespect Catholics by pointing out they drink wine at Mass, due to a mistranslation from Greek, where grape juice is the same word as wine.
