That is an older procedure for hotels to register for the online system.

You can do either, really up to your timing/schedule leading up to your ext stay.

Given some time I'd have the landlady mail in the form, that's the path I'm on currently (still waiting for online system approval). Otherwise do it in person, but self-filing with you as Possessor or whatever.

So I plan to have my landlord (add her name, age on line 1, sign, I've completed the rest within PDF) complete the TM30, and my doc pack now includes:

    TM30 both pages

    blue book

    Thai landlord's ID

My passport: main page, current ext stay, multi reentry, last stamp in, happens to be all on two adjacent pages

    TM6 (both sides)

    old visa being continuously extended

    lease

    SASE with 10 baht stamp

So you're having the owner fill out the TM30, and you're just taking care of the mailing it in, right? That's what I plan to do too. And even though it's owner filing, you're including all those documents? Have you seen somewhere that they are required if owner files?

You also mentioned you're waiting for online system approval. Are you mailing in instead because it's been a long wait? I took a quick look at online registration; it's in Thai and I've read elsewhere on this forum that online filing is difficult.

No, the webpage I linked to above is not the same document, although the info is obviously somewhat similar, since they're both on the same topic...

Now I've read the webpage more carefully and am confused. I had thought maybe the landlady needs only to send the TM30 form. The first part of the webpage, Filling in ...TM30, sort of implies that that is the case. But the next part is Prepare the Documents, and six documents are listed, including a "letter of authorization to conduct the registration via internet" (?) and an empty CD (?). Can anyone with experience explain?

Particularly interested in whether my landlady can mail in just the TM30 form, I wait for the receipt and take that to CW when I do my retirement extension. And I bring along a TM30 I fill in myself as possessor and supporting documents just in case.

Thank you for posting that. Can you tell me if there's anything important in that document that is different from, or in addition to, the webpage you linked to? It may be while before I can ask a friend for translation.

Sure, I can do that later this afternoon... I was already thinking about that, after I mentioned the document from Immigration above. But I wasn't sure, given that it's all in TH language...

There also is this Immigration website in TH language that I believe explains the whole deal...

    https://www.immigration.go.th/content/การแจ้งที่พักคนต่างด้าว

Thank you for that. Is this the same as the document you received by mail? The English translation doesn't say anything about sending supporting documents, so it seems all my landlady needs to do is to send the TM30. If anyone has had owner mail in only the TM30 alone and receive back the approval receipt, would appreciate if could let us know for reassurance.

I don't know the answer to your question with any certainty...but I can add some added details....

    1. the list of various documents I posted above re submitting the TM30 by mail came from here on ThaiVisa and was presumably in the context of the farang tenant submitting the filing by mail... not the Thai owner doing so.

    2. Earlier this year, I sent a postal letter to Thai Immigration CW asking about the TM30 enforcement requirements. And instead of getting any kind of direct answers to my questions, they simply sent me a 1 page, two sided printed document entirely in TH language spelling out the details for TM 30 reporting, presumably aimed at Thais (given it was entirely in TH language).

And on that instruction sheet, from my wife's translation, it appeared to reference just sending in the completed TM30 form along with a SASE envelope... No mention of all the various photocopies listed here as things a farang tenant should submit.

PS - Though, from reports I've read elsewhere, I wouldn't rule out that a farang tenant doing an IN PERSON TM30 at BKK CW might well be asked for copies of the Thai owner's tabien ban and Thai ID...

Would you be willing to scan and upload the Thai-language document on TM30 requirements that you received from CW? My landlady had never heard of TM30 before and I'd like to show it to her when we meet tomorrow.

You are filing in person, by post? In person, Chaeng Watthana, by mail:

    90 DAYS REGISTRATION, TM30
    IMMIGRATION DIVISION 1
    Chalermprakiat Government Complex
    120 MOO 3, CHAENGWATTANA ROAD,SOI 7,
    LAKSI, BANGKOK. 10210

    Yes.

For those in Bangkok: Documentation for self filing a TM.30 are
    Copies of;
-the blue book (signed by the thai)
-the thai i/d of the person in the blue book (signed by the thai)
-the data page of your passport
-the thai visa in your passport (if you have one)
    -your most recent entry stamp
-your extension (if you have one)
    -the TM.6 departure card
    -your lease

Thanks to you and to Joe M for helpful replies.

I guess only questions left are:

-- should I fill it out or have the landlady do it?

-- for date on the top, should we put current date or the date that I last arrived in Thailand (two weeks ago), since it's for a 24-hr notification?

-- My retirement extension doesn't expire till July 2. Should I mail in the TM30, wait for receipt to arrive and bring it to CW when I do extension, or just plan to file TM30 at same time as extension? The former would incur no fine whereas the latter would, is that correct?

  7. Is the current TM30 form to be downloaded from here?

    https://www.immigration.go.th/download/

I can't get site to list documents in English; and see the page has Immigration address as Soi Suan Phlu -- that's the old location, right? I'm not good navigating these things, pls.

Also, the blue book -- a copy of which is required for retirement stay extension at CW -- is that the same as the "tabian baan"?

    Thank you for your help.

  8. I live in one unit of a small privately owned compound/building. I had never heard of TM30 before, and the owner has never filed for me. I have copies of the apartment contract, the owner's tabian baan and Thai ID card. Can someone with recent experience tell me if that Is sufficient documentation for the TM30 filing in advance of extension of retirement at CW? Should I ask her to fill out the TM30 and I bring it with me? Since it is for notification within 24 hours and my last arrival in Thailand was two weeks ago, what do we fill in as the date at the top?

Also, should we mail it in and then do retirement extension after getting the receipt? Or just do both at same time at CW?

Can someone post the link to download the current TM30? I am not sure I have the updated form.

And the link for online filing of TM30.

Thanks for your patience with naive questions.

  9. Next month I’ll be doing my third retirement extension at CW and I’m worried about the new TM30 requirement; I’d never even heard of the form before reading this topic.

Is it correct that some officers at CW will ask for it and some will not?

If landlord of my apartment in of my private compound has never filled it in, and it requires notification 24 hrs after arrival, isn’t it already too late? In that case, what should I prepare for my extension visit? If I have her fill in the form and bring it with me, what should be written as the date of my arrival at the residence?

And please advise where to download the current form from. I’m not sure I have the up-to-date form.

    Thanks for your help.

  10. I'm middle-aged, male, and want to perk up aging face. Would appreciate hearing if anyone has recently had good experience getting dermal filler in Bangkok, and could recommend specific specialists and clinics. My prime concerns are quality of work, avoiding complications of any procedure, and that it's not hugely expensive compared to standard. If the place has a free initial consultation, that would be a good start, I suppose.

Well, I got past the 2nd screen tonight with a variation of my address.  Got to the screen where they ask to verify your name via your mobile number which means you need to have a post paid/fully registered mobile account.  Said up front a Google Voice number wouldn't work but that's what I tried....and it wouldn't work....their system said they can't verify my name against that number.

So, they are mailing me an activation code to my APO address which they said is suppose to arrive within 5 to 10 calendar days and if you don't get it within 15 days you have to request another one.  Nice way of saying the activation code should arrive your mail box within 10 calendar days and you need to use it by then....maybe they will give you up to 15 days to use the activation code.  But after 15 days it's probably expired....start over.  Typically it takes about 12 days for mail to get from the US to my APO address.

Will give an update in a couple of weeks....did I receive the code via mail in time...did it work...etc?

Hi, how did you vary your address such that you were able to proceed? Address must be same as on tax return, no? Good to know there's option to get the code by mail. Do they require that it be mailed only to the address used in tax return? In my case that would be Bangkok, and it often takes more than 15 days for letters to arrive.

Thank you for your update, and please let us know when you get the code.

i have both an IRS.gov and a SSA.gov. accounts that i set while living here in Thailand. I also have a US Skype number that i use for all such purposes such as call backs and sms's. I do have VPN but don't have to use it to get thru. I think the problem you and others are having is not a valid us phone number. I use a US postal address and my US skype number and have enrolled in both programs with no problem.

For your info the skype number costs $ 52.00 per year and is renewable every year. Hope this helps

Thanks for that. But problem is I and at least one other poster here could not get past the second screen on the online application for IRS.gov account, before they ask for any phone number. It just says our inputted info is in error, which it isn't. When did you register for your IRS.gov account while in Thailand, and was the registration application same as it is now? By the way, does the account show all transactions made with IRS, notices send to you, receipt of mailed payments, etc.? What is scope of info? I registered to pay by EFTPS, but I believe that only shows payments made by EFTPS, nothing else. Thanks.

I just tried...and used a VPN in order to get a US IP address just in case.

I couldn't get past the 2nd screen/point where it asks for your name, SSAN, your filing status last year (i.e, joint return, single, etc), and address used on your return.   I keep coming back saying the info does not match their records.  I did get past their first screen where it just wants to verify your email address by first emailing you a security code....not to be confused with the mobile phone verification that would have probably occurred if I could have gotten farther thru the process.

After three tries of trying to get past the 2nd screen it locked me out from further attempts....said I can try again in 24 hours.  And if it's like getting a Social Security mySSA online account that does the same thing...that is, gives you three tries before locking your out for 24 hours.....if you try again after 24 hours and get locked out again after three attempts, then your are locked out from any further attempts....must call them to try to work out the problem.

Edit: can't answer the part about the "overseas address question" as I use a US APO military address when filing and forget to look if an non-US address was allowed...and their pull down menus used for part of the address entry did have APO entries to select from....I just forgot to look if it allowed non-US addresses....just FYI for you folks using APO/FPO addresses.

Thanks for replying. I also couldn't get past the 2nd screen, saying my info does not match records and then locking me out. If you ever succeed, pls let me know.

  14. Are there any U.S. nationals on this forum who successfully created an IRS online account? Seems would be useful for keeping track of balances, payment history, etc. However, the instructions say you need a US-based mobile phone registered in your name to complete the online registration. (I guess they would send some kind of verification code there.) Does that mean we can't register if overseas?

  15. Will soon be doing online for first time. I see there are 4 steps on site. The first step (page) asks Personal Info, Travel Info, then there's a CAPTCHA box. What do the other 3 steps require? Do I need to gather additional info, or send document attachments, etc.? So I can prepare before filing. Please excuse the bother if this has already been answered. There's lots of posts here. Thanks.

She is not an ENT but rather a pulmonologiost. US board certfied in sleep medicine.

If you prefer to see her at Chula can try through their after hours clinic.

You are likey going to need CPAP.

    Dear Sheryl,

If the sleep apnea is caused by structural nasal-throat breathing problem, is it more appropriate to see a pulmonologist like Dr. Naricha or an ENT specialist? Two ENT docs said my breathing difficulty at night was caused by my enlarged turbinates and they recommended tubinoplasty. Should I go ahead with this, or consult Dr. Naricha first? In such a case, would a pulmonologist just send the patient to an ENT specialist? Thank you.

  17. I make my own mix for daily nasal irrigation, and am supposed to use Kosher salt and distilled water. However, I can't find either in Bangkok. I only see distilled water for car batteries, and the bottle says it is not for drinking, so probably not good to use that. I'm wondering what other people on this forum do. Also, which brand of nasal rinse bottle have you found to be the best? Thanks for your advice.

Did my 7th extension ysesterday. Hand drawn map was required for the first time. Immigration was almost deserted, my number was called as soon as I got the slip. When I finished and was waiting for the boss to sign the extension, the IO on retirement desk was sat the whole time with nothing to do. Maybe this does show that ex-pats are leaving.

Was a rental agreement or some such also required this time? If so, did it need to be in any certain format, etc.? Thanks.

They have been asking for a map recently.

The letter from the bank can be no older than the day before you apply and the bank book must be updated on the day you apply, There are bank branches on the ground floor of the building immigration is in.

    1. No need for the other bank book.

    2. Yes for the rental agreement. They will want a copy of your 90 day report slip.

    3. Yes they are open (not a holiday here). It should be about the same as any other day.

Are the map and rental agreement new requirements? They did not ask for that last July when I did extension. Map is a regular tourist map and I point to my street? Any requirements like certification on rental agreement? Thank you.

  20. I'm thinking of getting non-surgical procedure to make upper-middle-aged face a bit younger-looking, but not sure where to begin. Maybe dermal filler or some such? What kind of place/specialist should I look for, in terms of integrity, skill, safety and affordability? Is there a reputable place that offers complementary first-time consultation? Would appreciate hearing your advice and of your experience. Thanks.
