A post promoting a conspiracy theory documentary full of COVID misinformation has been removed.

@david_je"only available to Thais" has never been an official  government policy. Sounds like something the hospital decided on its own. Tends to happen with things in short supply, and Paxlovid supplies remain more limited than those of other drugs.

No guarantee, but your odds of getting Paxlovid would be greater at the private "international" hospitals. Of course so would the cost.

Having already had COVID infection once, and presumably also having been vaccinated, you will already have considerable immunity if re-infected. Do not be put off by accounts of declining antibodies, you will still have cellular immunity.

COVID reinfection is significantly less likely than first COVID infection to cause severe disease

Are you still doing boosters every sixth months, wearing masks, avoiding crowded places, etc., Sheryl? Where would you recommend for reliable info on current infection, hospitalization, rates in Bangkok/Thailand? I'm wondering to what extent I should continue to take previous precautions.

You will not receive a reply that explains why.

Many folk have had this experience (myself included) when using online reporting.

    You could try doing another.

Some folk suggest that after an overseas trip you must do first report in person however there are reports of doing it online after travel out of Thailand

I have resubmitted notification application and will see what happens. If you have to do in person after overseas trip, then will have to do that, I guess. What would be rationale for requiring that?

Are you sure you didn't get the 90 day when you did your extension? Imm always puts in a 90 day receipt in my passport when I pick up the extension.

No, they did not, I just rechecked. Actually, in my post I mistakenly said I did the renewal of extension application on March 6. Actually it was in February; I applied early. So it would have been way to early to do a 90-day notification (I re-entered Thailand Dec. 21), as I understand it. Thanks.

  4. I re-entered Thailand on 21 Dec. 2023 so was due for 90-day notify by around March 21. I did annual renewal of Non-O retirement stay on March 6, if that makes any difference. Yesterday, March 9, I did online notification but today received email that it has been rejected with no reason stated, only "Please contact the nearest Immigration Office in person immediately."

What did I do wrong? This means I must now go to CW? How do I know what documents, if any, they need?

    Thanks.

  5. When I got COVID in April 2023, Hospital for Tropical Diseases where I sought treatment told me it was only available to Thais. Was given  molnupiravir, which is not recommended as first-line treatment in U.S.

Has anyone here recently gotten access to Paxlovid?

I am of demographic that needs it, and would like to be prepared in case I am re-infected.

Also, anyone with personal experience can recommend where to go for COVID treatment in Bangkok?

    Thanks.

Thanks for the reference to this Dr. I had the procedure done Thursday. Checked out of Bumrungrad Friday.

Got an appointment to see him on a Wednesday, after discussing the situation we decided I was a good candidate for his procedure and could have done the surgery the next day. It took a few days to accumulate the required funds and get them to Thailand so we moved the operation to the following week. Bumrungrad insists on full payment pre-surgery.

Atrial fibrillation now gone as far as I can tell. I'll be back in the gym Tuesday or Wednesday.

All in, a bit over 1.3 million baht. Best money I've spent in a long time.

What criteria did he use to judge you are a good candidate for the procedure?

Assume your insurance did not cover?

What medicines and regimen did doc give you post-op? What tests or other follow-up in months ahead to determine if it was a success?

Thank you for any additional info.

    It is correct that if you withdraw you lose the interest which is why IO allow this for visa extensions as it is instant access.  You are wrong however to say that you cannot add to it;

    Fixed Deposit Account (bangkokbank.com)

Note: Deposits into a Fixed Deposit account or Sinmathaya Subthawee account via Bualuang ATMs, Cash Deposit Machines, Bualuang Phone, Bualuang iBanking and Bualuang mBanking can be made between 6:00a.m.-11:00p.m.

A year ago I tried to add to my FD at Bkk Bank and was told at two branches that I could not because I did not have work permit or notarized statement from the embassy (I am on retirement extension).

Try if possible to see Dr. Nithi Tokavanich there.

I am not sure if possible through the after hours clinic or not given that it is a specialized center.

I did not find Dr. Nithi among the doctors listed in the cardiac centre website. Where did you see pls? Thank you.

-Bankbook (updated the same morning and 100 B withdrawal) with copies of front page and last 13 months of transactions

-Bank letter (which included a separate statement of previous 3 months)

The 100b withdrawal is just the fee bank deducts for the bank statement, correct?

Why 13 months of transactions and not 12?

Is separate statement of previous 3 months a new requirement? I don't recall that when I renewed a year ago. What does that statement say, and how do we ask that bank for it? It's a separate document (piece of paper)?

    Thanks.

It certainly is walkable, for someone in decent physical condition without any impairments... But probably would be a 15-20 minute walk depending on one's pace. But I'd still opt for the local tram service from the top of Soi 7 at the main CW Road, assuming it's still running.

By tram you mean a dedicated gov't-organized bus shuttle that non-employees can use? Is there cost? To catch it, do I get off at GC station and walk to Soi 7? And what about getting back to the station? Thanks.

    I suggest

    https://rsuhealth.com/product/ตรวจสุขภาพ-24-รายการ-standard-check-up-package-สำ/

    And add on to it:

    1. HB1Ac

    2. Exercise Stress Test (will give an indication of your overall cardiac fitness as well as detect about 80% of coronary artery disease. Fitness aspect especially pertinent given obesity and lifestyle.)

    3. PSA (mainly just as a baseline for future reference)

May I ask why you recommend RSU? You have yours done there? Also see on link only checkup for under 30s.

When I consulted cardiologist at Chula about afib last year, he said no need for stress test as it would not turn up anything useful -- but perhaps that is only in context of afib? He did order an echocardiogram (normal).

Since I live in the area (Saphanmai since 2006), I took the pink line two days ago all the way to Minburi and Nonthaburi, I can confirm that at the government Complex station they are building a sky walk all the way to the entrance of it but it hasn't been completed yet. At the moment the shuttle bus or a motorcycle driver 20 Baht, are the alternatives......

I have not been there since Pink Line opened, but is it easy enough to just walk from the Government Complex station to the immigration building? Thanks.

There is also a step to enter your email so they can send you OTP.

I managed to make booking, but unlike in past, the email they sent me with queue ticket did not contain a link where you can cancel or change the booking. On the booking site, I did not readily see way to do this either.

Pls excuse if these are very basic questions. Thanks.

I am due for annual renewal in March. I have a TM30 Receipt of Notification from May 2023. This is what I show if asked by IO, correct? Does it need to be updated or otherwise acted upon before March renewal?

    Thank you.

I forgot to add that after the May 2023 receipt, I left Thailand from August to December 2023, but returned to the same address as on the May 2023 receipt. If that makes any difference.
