You do not advance demcoracy by denying the democratic rights of others.
You do not advance demcoracy by denying the civil rights of others.

So there is no doubt that Thaksin is running the PTP party now... always has been, always will be

MunterHunter, are you a Red Shirt? Just asking because, if you weren't, how on earth did you sit through 10 hours a day of that bile?!
2 hours was far too much for me, moreso because I understand Thai language I think.
Not a red shirt, not a yellow shirt... but my place of work was within hearing range of the stage and my journey to work each day took me through the red camp.

This is not my point - and as you clearly demonstrate few people CAN grasp the wide cultural sweep that is happening nor understand that many of the 'personalities' are just pawns in the sweep of history - this is not condesending nor patronising it's a fact but, you may not like this sorry, it does take a degree of education and understanding to 'get it' if you don't understand the science of cultural and sociological 'shift' you won't understand what I am very poorly trying to convey.
Try explaining it then, instead of just saying "if you dont get it, then you wont understand it"
As i see it, your getting your 'points' and 'arguments' torn to shreds and you can only come back with some mumbo-jumbo about education and understanding... so stop hiding behind cr@p and answer the bloody question!
And for the record, i was right slap bang in the middle of the red protest back in Songkran, right up until about a week before the Army moved in and cleared them out. I could hear the stage from where i sat for 10 hours a day, the entire bloody rally was all about Thaksin and i challenge you to prove me wrong.

I'm trying to buy a gift certificate online for my girlfriend so she can buy some apps for her iPad, but being based in Thailand this is very difficult.
So i went down to the iStudio store in Central World and asked them if i can buy a gift card. They told me they stock them and i could buy in denominations of $25.
When i came to pay, they wanted 1200b for a $25 gift card which should be aroiund the 750b region (give or take 50b to cover their costs etc) - so this markup is insane!
As its an official iStudio and not some mickey-mouse store, are they allowed to do this?
Either way i want to file a complaint with Apple over this, as its daylight robbery! I've looked around the apple website but cannot find any way to file a complaint or feedback about a physical apple store.
Anyone know where i can do this?

Thailand is usually every year in the top 3 with South Africa being number one.
Please quote your source, my limited googleing skills show a different story to the one you speak of

Thailand doesnt even make it into the Top 10

I went on Sunday, no problem getting the Thai price for the tickets (300b) - they didnt even ask me for any Thai ID - so i wouldnt worry about it at the moment.
Not a massive amount there at the moment, and some of them look very plastic, but worth a visit if you havent been to any of the other ones.

I've got the kinect and about 12 games right now.. i think there were 25 titles available at release - not sure if the modded xbox will be able to use/play kinect games as it requires a software update when you install it and every game so far has had at least one download update as well...

Power: get a step-down transformer... any of the shops selling consoles will have them.
Games: Import from either play-asia.com or from an e-bay store, check out nadzproject.com who also get games for all regions and consoles
SUpport: You are screwed there, you will have to send it back to the US

How's the iPad?

Victor Bout never ran a country nor was he over thrown by the military. Neither does he have a government that keeps blaming him for every little thing that goes wrong, from the increasing price of sugar to the latest floods. The other difference is that was interpol and other countries who deemed the charges against Taksin as being politically motivated. Victor's political song was sung solo.
I don't know, lets wait and see how this plays out. It will be interesting.
Please provide links as to when the government blamed Thaksin for the flood and the rising price of sugar... links to articles in Thai or English will be acceptable.

Why are the thai government so paranoid about Thaksin....let him speaks if the Democrat government has nothing to hide...
the problem is " the truth always hurt "...
When was the last time Thaksin spoke the truth?
Plus i dont think the government are trying to stop him speaking

You can expect to pay anything up to 40% on any 'Luxury' item imported into Thailand. It's down to how the customs officer on the day is feeling, but thats the maximum you should ever be charged.
In the past when i have imported software, i have been stung for approximately 20% import duty, sometimes the package gets in without tax, sometimes it doesn't... pay your money and take your chance.

Poor dear. I hope his expensive suit didn't sustain any damage.
As the beloved dear leader escaped unscathed, alls well that ends well.
I believe the TVF fan club wishes that he live long and prosper.
Not that I wish any harm to befall the fellow, especially since there is no one around to do any better.
PM Abhisit is the captain of a ship with a jammed rudder making a slow circle. Considering the crew under his command, he's doing the best he can.
I guess its perfectly acceptable to attempt murder, providing you don't succeed, right?

For me, its an excellent replacement for a Laptop, i can deal with emails, browse the net and deal with most Office Documents (docs, power point presentations and spreadsheets)
Yes you can do that (and more) with a laptop, but the tab is small enough for your pocket and does it just as well. Battery life is great, i get around 2.5-3days use before i have to charge it.
It wont fit for some peoples needs, and some people will just find a reason not to use a tablet (any of them) - its horses for courses, I originally bought mine as a toy, but now after a month or so its a valuable work tool. It is a touch expensive, yes, but then i've never shy'ed away from techy toys, regardless of their cost. A few thousand baht doesnt matter to me. I might even buy an iPad to try out and see if i prefer it to the Galaxy Tab.
In fact i just bought the Xbox Kinect and about 12 games for it, and i'm not really much of a gamer, just wanted to give it a try... and so far very impressed - but thats off-topic.

You are likely to get hit for between 25-40% on importing a laptop.
Whats so special about the one that you want that you cant find it in Pantip/Fortune? They have everything from low end to high spec laptops there. The Thai keyboard thing is just the lettering printed on the keys, if you set the regional setting to English (US) it will be an english keyboard anyway.

Imported from the US. They are not available over this side just yet, i think Australia is the first offical country on this side of the globe to get it... although i am not sure when

I took delivery of my xbox kinect yesterday and had a few hours play around last night.
My short summary
The Hand guesture controls for selecting things is a little cumbersome and not that great - so far its my least favorite aspect of the system
Voice recognition stuff is great, its a bit limited right now and you cant really control the xbox with it, just a few aspects, but its pretty good, lets hope they extend this
You need a lot of space, my living room is quite large but i still need to move a few things around to give me optimal space for two player.
The games are pretty fun, lots of jumping around, dancing and ducking... great fun
Very easy and quick to set up
Limited games at the moment. I think theres only 15 titles but i expect to get more over the coming months
Overall 9/10

It was still available last time i looked, ask them for their iPhone 599 package
