  1. Similar experience today... trains double packed, with room enough for only one or two passengers when it gets to a station... large crowd of hot/stressed people waiting on the platform...

The trains are defiantly more busy than they were prior to these new stations opening... Friend of mine who normally gets the train at On Nut says that station is pretty quiet now, but when the train pulls into On Nut its already full and difficult to get in...

Perhaps they just need to add another carriage or two to the trains (make them longer) to help offset the increase in passengers... quite a simplistic idea but could work!

  2. This is the same government that said they had nothing to do with his Japan visa application... then the Japanese government turn around and said "The Thai government requested it"

Oops, looks like they got caught, red handed, lying through their teeth...

... not bad for their first (official) week in office...

I wonder what else they have lied about? 300b Minimum wage? Free tablets computers for children? Fixed Rice Prices? Corporate tax cuts? Political party for the rural poor?

  3. But they won the election, so they can do whatever they god-d*mn please, right... regardless of laws of the land or the spirit of democracy, they are in power and therefore are totally unaccountable for any of their actions, past, present or future.

And god forbid anyone stands in their way whilst they consolidate their power base and reverse all the decisions made during their time in opposition, for these are truly the enemies of Democracy and should be stacked up in big trucks until they be dead dead dead... <_<

  4. On Nut station itself was considerably quieter, but the trains are coming in with a lot of people on so it's a bit of a squeeze to get into the train. Not ridiculously packed though, nearly everyone who was waiting got on OK.

As someone metnioned earlier, it's probably the same amount of people overall, but now a lot of the people who used to cram into On Nut before are now getting on at the new stations. You also see a lot more people getting off at Phra Khanong now - presumably there are a number of people who work near On Nut or Phra Khanong who would have bussed / taxied to work before, but are now getting on at the new stations instead and BTSing in. This probably adds to the overall volume of passengers a bit.

I've used the BTS twice a day for the last 2-3 years... the amount of passengers on the train is significantly higher than before the new stations opened... I get on at Thong Lor, at around 8am and never have had to wait more than one train to get on, and whilst its busy i was always able to get on with relative comfort. This morning i waited for 3 trains and had to be fairly aggressive in my pushing to get on the train... and it was very uncomfortable and everyone was squeezed in might tighter... I hope they add extra carriages soon, whilst i applaud the new stations, If it means i cant get to work anymore on the train, they can bloody well close them again :D

  5. Pretty packed, had to wait for a couple of trains before i could get on, and when i did manage to squeeze my way into the train (much to the annoyance of some of the other passengers as i squeeze them in) i was getting up close and personal with the passengers around me... And it stayed that packed until i managed to squeeze out at Chit Lom. They need to fix this!

If they don't sort this out soon, its going to render the BTS useless at Rush-hour for anyone whos not getting on the train at the new stations...

  6. What does revenge have to do with TRYING to eliminate corrupt and incompetent officials. I would hope that MANY heads are on the chopping block. Just how many heads are lopped off will be a good indication whether Yingluck has the fortitude and courage to do the job. I do hope her personal security people are capable of protecting her.

Looks like they are trying to install corrupt officials, not eliminate them...

  7. I think.

Time Thai security forces track IP address of foreigner 'anti' government posters and remove from country with red stamp in passport.

    Now THAT is Thai democracy.

No problem, i will take my tax dollars and investments somewhere else, I'm not emotionally tied to this country i'm here only for business and work. And lets be honest, if the government gets to the point they are doing this, its probably a good time to pack up and leave anyway... starts to sound more like comunist China or North Korea if they deport anyone who disagrees with them :)

  8. Most office supply shops have either the original or the copy stuff... so anywhere that sells stationary (B2S, Office World etc) - i have also seen this for sale in some supermarkets, i bought a couple of rolls in Tesco next to Fortune about 3-4months ago.

  9. I've never had any (significant) problems with my True connection, the few times i've had minor issues a quick phone call or a quick engineer visit and its all sorted out... helps if you can speak Thai as their English language support is a bit dodgy, get the girlfriend/wife/friend to call them if you cant speak the lingo.

I've recently moved to the cable modem and i'm really pleased with it, its reliable and always on, always at the right speeds, and quite inexpensive. It went down once (to my knowledge) for about an hour... not bad in 6 months really.

  10. Even though it would seem to be political suicide for PM to contact Thaksin or take advice from him, this is Thailand and in current situation I do not think anything much would happen to her if she contacts Thaksin openly. The majority voted for her and therefore are obviously pro-Thaksin and would love it if he returned to Thailand. Democrats would make a big fuss if govt. has involvement with Thaksin, but I believe nothing much will happen to PM if she does this, which personally I believe someday this will happen.

The supreme court may take a different view, they are the second highest authority in the land and have the power to destroy both of them, I'm sure they will be fed plenty of information and have cases raised on a regular basis, sooner or later they will have enough evidence to bring the hammer down on them...

And that's nothing to do with Pro/anti Thaksin, PTP, Democrats, Red or Yellow shirts...

  11. I had an early dinner there once quite recently (within the last 6 weeks) and i must say i will never go there again, the food was very poor quality, the bill was above-average for a hotel buffet dinner.

I felt the selection of food was poor, at best, the service mediocre at best. The chefs working the carvery coutner were disinterested in serving anyone and when i finally got their attention and asked for a slice of meat, the resulting slice was practically thrown at me.

The food in the warmers was dry and shriveled, it looked like it was still there from lunchtime.

If i am in that area and i want a buffet dinner again, i will walk the extra 500mtrs and goto the Novotel, which is cheaper, has a better selection of food and the staff at least give the appearance of wanting to serve.

  12. Nattawut also urged outgoing Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban to accept the poll results and start focusing on his new duty in the Opposition in order to ensure the government's good performance.

The red-shirt leader said that Suthep should stop making negative comments about the Pheu Thai Party because despite being in power for more than two years, the Democrat Party still lost the election.

Wasnt that the Red Shirt's entire tactic against Suthep and Abhisit during the protests/riots?

Do as we say, not as we do...
