  1. I went in BigC 2 days ago and bought the mainland tasty brand with the red label same price 179 baht, the other one which says 24 months ripening is 5 baht more. I was back in New Zealand 2 months ago and the Thai price is around the same price as NZ. Call into Tesco they have the same cheese  but always 5-7 baht more than the mainland.

it is surposed to be a very low duty because they are in APEC BUT CUSTOMS COULD HAVE GOT DIFFICULT, you never know.

  2. I do this drive many times in the year. I head for Cabin Buri. I have the Mazda BT50, 2.5turbo I normally top up 3 times with 1,000 baht in total for there and back. Quite a few police check points and speed cameras.Have learned and no fines over the last 6 years. Make sure  you have Thai drive license or international and your road tax up to date.

Normally I find towards the week end when more police stops. I have 3-4 stops for a drink and little walk around. Takes on average 7 hours at 100-120  speed. Try get there and back with no night time driving. Watch the road many speedsters on the road overtaking at very fast speeds all the busses stay over in the right lanes, will not pull over to the left.

  3. The smoking laws in Thailand do nothing really to stop young kids from smoking. No cigarette advertising, hide the cigarets in the stores.

If the Thai authorities really want to make it hard for young people not to smoke, Thailand could hold their heads up to a NEW LAW.

Make it illegal for anyone under the age of, (say 18) to smoke, even tourists, on the penalty of a big fine that the parents, if here in Thailand be liable to pay.

Other countries around the world will look at this law and praise the Thai Government for implementing it.

I do not think any other country in the world have this law.

Last month we had a drop in cool temp from one ac

After the clean it came good but it then started to get warm about 26c even though the click click was set at 23c

It was eventually discovered the cooling fan had blown causing the system to shut down on over temp

You definitely have a problem with your unit. Surely the aircon service people should have had it working right after they cleaned it, or replaced parts not working. They should have also checked the gas pressure. Your compressor could be working overtime or faulty. Is your outdoor unit sucking hot air or too close to the wall and suffocating? Touch the outdoor unit. Even if the compressor is working hard, the unit should only be warm. I had units positioned incorrectly and they were getting hot due to hot air blowback from a wall. I had to have them repositioned. One unit was too close to a wall. They don't seem to have a clue here how to correctly position these units.

My main Dakin in the lounge 26btu was not cooling. The guy came and replaced the Capasitor in the outdoor unit, and it worked great. It cost 1,000. Our business in New Zealand is Dehumidifiers and portable air cons. I looked at a few things on the unit but you cannot tell if the capacitor is faulty unless you connect another one to test if the unit cools again. So I brought a couple of capacitors back with me from our stock.

  5. It certainly can. My wife was going to call the local guy because her daughters air con was not cooling very good. I pulled open the front of the wall unit and the filters were blocked with a buildup of dust ect. I lifted them out and cleaned them. The air con performed 100% better..

if it is short of gas you will normally get a leak out of the wall unit. You can also open the front take the filters out and see if there is any ice on the pipes, if so that is a sure sign of gas shortage.

Cheater and liar in her 20s what do you think she'll be by the time she's 35. ?

Answer: an older cheater and liar.

And BTW how are you to maintain a relationship  ? You are wealthy enough to retire here and be with her?  Or you expect her not to see other guys while you spend 25 years saving for retirement. ?

If it were me I would take the perminent walk and stick with your Spanish Lady. They all have something in the skeleton cupboard waiting to come out. You must have really nice places in the Meddy for holidays why bother with Thailand.

When i am at home i never wear a shirt ( unless its cold) that is due to the fact that on my upper body shirts irritate me.

This is because my upper body is very sensitive ( since my accident).

I never go out the gate without a shirt on, if i did my wife would have a hissy fit, as she says it is not polite.

I go for a walk every morning around my village in only shorts. I pass the locals sitting outside and they all greet me with the words RON RON  or HON HON (Khon Kaen)

  8. I have not found Montclare increase in price. Check the price of the normal size bottle and the half size bottle. See how much the 700ml is and multiply by 3 this works sometimes. Many times I have bought 2 small for the equivalen large one in weight & size and the smaller ones have worked out cheaper.

Thanks for bringing this subject up again.

It is one of my pet hates to see people bringing on hand luggage bags on wheels that

must be 15/20 kilos at least to avoid paying for luggage with the cheap airlines.

It is also VERY DANGEROUS as I have witnessed on a flight where this luggage was flying around the cabin in very turbulent weather. They became like missiles & one man was hospitalized as a result.

Ask any experienced captain or purser what he thinks about this lack of enforcement.

Luckily these days aircraft take off weight tolerances with more lift mechanisms on the wing

take away that safety factor at least.

I would encourage any airline to strictly enforce 7 kilos & a return to the size checking device.

My greatest pet hate is the back packers getting on board with their backpacks, huge. Must be around 20kg+. I fly Smile a lot and find them the best.

i was coming back out of Manchester flying Emirats my case was 34kg they made me open my case and take 4kg out. Most of it was pack/tin food and I tried to put it into a carrier bag and they weighed it with my carry on which was 9.5kg so I was 3.5kg over and they were charging me something like £50 kg. I ended giving it to my nephew who took me to the airport. I have noticed that it depends on the individual person on the check in desk.
